LD39 — Running out of Power

Wow, that's one very innovative idea (though I can see a GameBoy reference out there ;p), nice! Also, pretty good at other aspects, but I can see some improvements that could be done (I'll refer GBA to in-game console): 1. Graphics outside the game - I think more detailed 3d/smooth world around would look really neat. 2. Also, this game can be a part of a larger meta-game with coolecting those batteries in "real" world. 3. Other genres - puzzles, like match-3 (huehuehue) or some slow-paced actions like Space Invaders. 3. I can see that some part of GBA screen is actually moving along with hands (UI part), while game elements stay at the same place - looks kinda weird. 4. Saved games doesn't persist between restarts. 5. Input can be done in such way that GBA receives input AFTER hand animation finishes - I guess it will look more natural but I'm not sure if usability will improve.

Anyway, Mishanya, eto top.

So, I'll be honest - there's not much in this game, but I'll try to give some technical advice: - I haven't seen a source of your project (also, it's a good practice to share it) but I believe that you haven't adjusted asset settings (like compression and quality) and looking at the size your game (which is whopping 160 MB for such a small game) I can say that you really want to do that. You see, no matter how small your game already is, it's always worth to reduce its size even more, so players won't wait long to start game (hence raising the overall enjoyment of game). - Currently enemies are chasing player by a straight line, which is not that good approach for a top-down shooter. I suggest you look at other top-down shooters for inspiration. In Crimsonland, for example, enemies try to surround the player, thus giving more challenge in maneuvering in battlefield - RAR files in 2018?

Well, Unity provides a lot of ways to optimize your assets. Just look at https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/HOWTO-ArtAssetBestPracticeGuide.html . Apart from this article you can find a lot of stuff in Internet, just google it.

Welp, apparently, the goal of the game (pun intended) is to score 3 goals, and not to kill entire opponent team ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I don't read descriptions, sorry). I think that some tutorial would help a lot to figure out what's happening and what should you do.

Roundabout: ~ Roguelike & Rythm ~ Trading Bard Game by Gustavo Manchae 2018-05-02T23:37:54Z

IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE???

But anyway, my thoughts on this:

Really strong gameplay, really poor empty sound space between actions. Idbecoolif you made some background music that is always playing, and all attacks actually strike in the rhythm of that bg music. And some team combo (2/2/2/2) would be great too.

Holy cow, I'm just blown away by this deepness.

Haha, I actually found myself hooked into this mindless shooting-over-the-table after a couple of points. I think that's a good sign - this game is pretty captivating :v:
