Power Down by harark 2017-08-01T17:29:20Z
It was hard alright! :D Maybe add a small tutorial or some instructions for new players? :) Great work still! :)

Thanks Esokishi! We didnt have time to balance it further, we initially wanted each pipe to have certain pressure levels. It would mean that once in a while you would have to open the valves and release some plasma, goo or water to stabilize it. We want it to be really hectic and fast paced! :D Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback! <3
@rongo-matane thanks a bunch, glad you like it! We plan on adding a tutorial post jam to clarify the mechanics. Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it alot! /Bejk
@p-dude Thanks for playing and thank you for your kind words! Thanks for your feedback, I know exactly what you mean regarding the water pipe.. we have alot of balancing to do :) And you are on point with the yawn as well, its too low :) Again, thanks a bunch for playing and thanks for the feedback! /Bejk
@boxfort thank you for playing and leaving feedback!
@ReboundGames Thanks for playing! I agree with you and @boxfort! @granlord did an amazing job with the particles that make up for the liquids! Thank you for your kind words! Glad you liked it! /Bejk
@royoyo thanks for playing, glad you liked it! <3
@alien thanks man, it means alot! <3
@robber I am sorry I missed when you streamed our game, I have watched the vod and am glad you liked it! Thanks for playing, rating and leaving feedback! /Bejk (KoltrastenTV @ Twitch)
@binaryspark Hey man! Glad you liked it! thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing! <3
I have been rating so many games today and I did not expect this many responses and feedback! You guys are awesome!
Thanks.gif
@simon-rahnasto Thanks for the feedback I'm glad you liked it! And for coffee.. @granlord, our programmer, drank so much of my coffee while developing this game that he suprised me the day after submissions with a new bag of coffee beans!
Im really stoked that you like the visuals, audio and our crazy doctor! As for him, I had nothing in mind when I created him.. I later discovered that he looks like the grandpa from Rugrats fused with the doctor from Futurama!
@connor-hagan Great way to structure your feedback! I think I'll adopt it myself
Thank you for everything mentioned in the pros! Glad you liked it!
As for the cons, I completely agree with you, we didnt have time to add more elements to further increase the difficulty. We will add more in the future though, as we plan on completing this game.
Also! Thanks for pointing out the bug, I will inform @granlord about it and we will make sure we iron it out!
@assonasimpossible Thank you! glad you liked it! :)
@damdoshi Glad you liked it! We will add objectives and obstacles after the jam  thanks for the feedback!
@funkyhippo
omg thank you for the praise!
As for the music, its 100% made from scratch to fit this game, glad it worked!
@designernap Haha the meters/levels and coffe pot are strategically placed for that reason alone, as you guessed! :D Thanks for the feedback!
@amarcu Glad you liked it! The liquids are actually particles within Unity that @granlord infused with some shader voodoo magic! As a designer.. I have no idea how he did it.. but I like it as well! :sunglasses:
@estebe Haha yay! thats exactly what we were going for!
As for the coffee cue, it is there and it is instant.. the only issue is that its: "Sluuurp.....Aaaahh!" and sometimes the slurp is lost in the alarms and/or music. Im going to replace that audio cue with something more noticable (plus visual feedback). Thanks for playing, rating and commenting!
@gimbalock Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! (ps.. I managed 4 years in the purple house ;) )
@flaterectomy haha oh no! sorry about the stress levels! :joy:
The text on that screen is actually a bad font I had to put in at the last minute to make it somewhat easier on the player. When we first were to publish the game we had no information and/or start screen.
Needless to say, it will be changed post jam and I will most likely create a custom font for this game
All in all, thank you so much for playing and taking your time giving us your feedback!
And again, sorry about the stress/blood pressure! :joy:
@a333 Thanks man! glad you enjoyed it! :D As for your knowledge on realistic reactor warning sounds... no comments! :joy:
PS: Drink some coffee for me and Dr. Wattson, will you? :coffee:
@nyri0 Thanks for playing and thank you for your feedback! :) We will work on better feedback on audio cues and we have been talking about a visual cue when you drink and/or need coffee as well. Alot of times the yawning drowns in the alarm sfx at the moment.
@ddrkirbyisq The file for Windows works for me with winrar and 7zip D: try it again maybe? (I did update the build yesterday, but that should not affect this download)
The checksum is correct: 7d9187082c776a5995cabc26e2c4c0dd
@sinclairstrange The zip file works for me (although I cant verify the mac build)
@tolmera
Thanks for playing our game and leaving your feedback!
Unfortunately your voice was kinda drowned in the youtube clip when I tried to watch it during your playthrough so I didnt get all of your feedback while playing.
One thing I have to mention, I noticed that one key component of the game goes missing when playing in window mode, there is usually a "coffee meter" at the top left corner.
We are still working on a perfect mixture of difficulty and adding end game mechanics to make it harder the longer you play :)
Again, thank you for playing and linking your playthrough (with the correct timing  )
/Bejk
@thygrrr
haha glad you thought it was frantic! that is what we were aiming for
Im gonna leave out the things you liked, and just say, I am glad you liked it!
The things we can improve, I completely agree, we wanted to create a tutorial, intro screen but we ran out of time.
As for the liquids, we will have to look into a more clear way to display what is going on based on alot of the feedback we have been receiving.
Thanks alot for playing and leaving feedback, your feedback is what helps us improve the game post jam!
@tolmera We added the audio cue because it was so easy to forget to watch the coffee meter :D the yawn is easily drowned by the alarms and other sounds in game so they both complete eachother fairly well :)
btw I laughed in the beginning when you managed to get as many cups of coffee as gigawatts
Thanks for playing @badly-drawn-rod and @ddrkirbyisq! I hope ALL power plants are managed better than this! :joy:
you are on point @ddrkirbyisq, we had initially intended to have more mechanics implemented, we wanted the player to never have a moment to stand still. We toyed a little with objects to avoid, platforms to reach certain pressure valves etc etc.. but we didnt have enough time to actually make it work.
I really appreciate the honest feedback, we already have a whole list of things we want to redo completely when we get back to working on it :)
I agree with the people above me, its a cool concept and it does its job as a innovative puzzler.
the only critique I have is that it felt a bit slow at times.
Great entry!
This was super fun! and it made me feel like a super hero
* Really interesting take on the theme * Smart use of VR, felt fresh * Clear instructions * Smooth animations and clean graphics * Didnt feel repetetive
* Sound effects were not on the same level as the visuals, felt off and could use some more work. They got repetetive and "stung" a little in my ears with headphones on. (Especially the lightning/charge sounds) * Some of the death sounds on the robots sounded a bit off, Im guessing you went for a Portal feel?
* More feedback when punching enemies, have them blow up or fall apart in a million pieces and/or have insane knockback on them. * Soundtrack * Robots speech sounds, run them through a bit crusher to give them a more robotic feel.
Note that my cons are small things, the entry is solid and I enjoyed playing it!
Loved the voiceover and the little intro!
Polish the graphics and throw in some animations, work over the music and sound effects and make the attacks and kills more rewarding and this game will be very fun!:)
As you see, the only thing I have to say about it what you should do if you want to continue develop it after the Ludum Dare :)
This is a good second entry, thanks for suggesting it to me!
hectic and fast paced! all the things I like! :) Had a good time with this entry, great work!
This game feels like a mix of:
* Castlevania Symphony of the night * Jazz Jackrabbit * Contra * Sonic * Maybe some metal slug
All of the above are good things! I liked the gameplay and the graphics, its hard to grasp that this was made in 72h!!
Haha this is the weirdest game I have played so far! I absolutely love it!!
The art style is fantastic!
I cant stress how much I enjoyed it
This game was really pretty! Great work!
pixel.PNG
This is one of my favorites so far, the mood and the use of the theme is superb!
Did anyone get more points?
This had some vlambeer esque "art of screen shake" applied to it, it felt like the start of a great mix between super meat boy and any game made by vlambeer.
My only critique would be the audio and the controls.
Add some variation to the sound effects and lower them a tad. As for controls they mapping were good, I would have liked it a little bit "tighter" with better response (mainly on the roll/dash).
The game was really fun and I LOVE the simplistic art style and the hectic gameplay!
Great LD entry!
Really pretty game, talked to the developer in a twitch stream. Chill dude and the game turned out great, really love the PSX-esque feel of it! Only high remarks here!
Really nice game! I love how it starts with a leap of faith! :scream:
The graphics and sound are on point and sets the mood really well.
The only critique I have is that jumping up on "stairs" seems to glitch a little (the character jerks a bit downwards). and I managed to fall off the map two times.. then spent 20 minutes trying to gif it :D

Great job for you first entry! :)
Great game and entry! I would have liked to have more control mid air but then again I guess that is what makes this game hard :)
this was kinda hard, but I liked it alot! great entry!
I was in ZedKrazes stream when he tried this game and had a chat with the developer of this game. Seems like a really nice dude and this game turned out great! I think I have seen a game like this back in the day on newgrounds, but it was fresh to see something like this amongst the entries. A+!
I like this game alot, reminds me of dig dug.. and thats a good thing! :) Really good work, nice graphics and fun mechanics! Sometimes I have a hard time digging to the left.. not sure why. Anyway, great entry!
Really pretty! Works great for a PoC and fits the theme well! A+
Liked this entry, it was easy to grasp and very straight forward! Having it change for each "mini game" was a smart choice.
The only thing I would change is add some background music and lower the sound effects, they are a bit too sharp.
Other than that, great entry! :)
Love the concept and the art, only complaint is the steep learning curve.
I hope you polish this and "complete" it post jam :)
Great entry!
Simple concept yet addicting enough :) Liked it! Great job!
ERROR — This project has been removed by the author. It may return later. would have loved to play it :(
The bots reminds me of one of the fighter bots in Big Hero 6 (a little bit at least) bot.PNG
Fun game and cool concept, artistically really impressive! I like the details put into this. (for instance the blurred background and bokeh effect).
This is a really solid game concept and take on the theme!
Kudos and great job guys!
Really impressed with this entry! Controls felt really responsive and the graphics is great!
Thank you for this suggestion!
I agree with the others, really solid first entry! (I only managed 132 seconds)
Im gonna add to @Tyranosaws comment with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U
This was a fun take on the theme and the music was great (although you didnt make it yourself) it fit right in! Great backstory and nicely balanced. Overall great entry, only thing I would change is custom cards.
Nice game, I agree with some of the previous comments.. movement felt a little bit off and I would have loved some more "feedback" when attacking.
Things I would love in a polished version:
* Smoother animations * Tighter movement * I would consider changing the sprint to a roll/evade manouver since there are enemies that are really fast and you dont really use the sprint so often * Some audio cues for the enemies so that you can distinct when there is an enemies around the corner (kinda like the clickers in the Last of Us)
I really liked this entry, thanks for suggesting it! :)
cute concept! I would have loved this a little more fast paced and intense.. But that might just be me. A+ for fun and mood :D
Great entry!
retrodecay.PNG yeah would have liked a little more levels :)
Solid entry nevertheless!
Oh man! this was really cool! I would have loved some easter eggs, like funny and interactive objects. The art was really cool and the concept was fresh!
It would be great if it had some end game or highscore or something added later :) 5/5 in graphics and innovation and humor from me :) Great entry!
Really good puzzler! I have nothing bad to say about this, it is what it is and does its job more than enough!
PowerlessMiner.PNG
The sound effects could use some mastering, you can use Audacity and try to manipulate the sounds so that they fit better with your game. For instance, I would try to lower the levels of the mechanic sounds, add som base to it and a slight reverb/echo since we are inside a big space ship :) For controls I agree with DemonQueen, using WSAD might help!
Great entry nevertheless, great job! :)
Really cute art! the music and sounds were spot on (I would personally bit crush it a tad to simulate the retro arcade feel). I really enjoyed this entry, great work!
I would really like to see this as a completed game with polished graphics! I had fun playing it, although hard was... hard xD superb entry!
@connor-hagan Im really interested in where this goes!
If you have a twitter I'd be happy to follow you and your progress :)
Nice idea, like the bloom/blur and overall design! The NCS song choice was good too, although Im not sure I understand where the "Running out of power" comes in. But I liket this entry alot, great work!
This is a really good first time entry! Just like most people I was a little bit confused in the beginning, but I got the hang of it :)
Great job!
Really cool concept!
The only con I have for this is: * Could have been a little faster * Mouse controlled camera would be nice
I think you can create a really cool game post LD and I would be very interested in seeing how it would turn out!
Nice little piece of work, I like how detailed you were in the description!
The game and its mechanics are nothing new, but you added your own touches to it and kept it intesting.
Kudos! :)
Visually stunning and the concept feels new, fresh and challenging! This would feel so much better if it had audio and a soundtrack to add to the mood and atmosphere of the game. Other than that.. add a menu, slap on some difficulties and a global leaderboard. Oh and one more thing, I think this game could be really really fun if it was sped up a bit.. but that might just be me :)
Great entry, I failed so hard in the beginning!
Im gonna keep playing for a while and try to increase my score!
PS: I think I gave you the last rating you needed to be in the rankings, congrats
Funny take on the theme!
I had a hard time a few levels in :D
Great entry!
