This is a pretty fun game IMO. The weapon feels very powerful and satisfying to use.

wispeh 2017-07-31 18:05

Solid :D

mennchen22 2017-07-31 18:08

Nice game, like that type of gamestyle :)

red-fan-games 2017-07-31 18:11

Would play if you had a linux or web version.

trasheur 2017-07-31 18:14

Very Funny !! And DON'T Push M ! Awesome song !

dene 2017-07-31 18:15

Nice game! Love it!

gmfk07 2017-07-31 18:22

I'd probably pay money for a full version of this game.

kabalatrance 2017-07-31 18:23

Great rougelike game. I'm amazed by the amount of content, and I had fun. Nuclear throne is obvious inspiration, and you are on the way to achieve that special juice Vlambeer games have. Congrats!

mr-elektro 2017-07-31 18:27

Wow so much fun man. 5 stars for how fun the game is.

mr-elektro 2017-07-31 18:30

I have a 92.53% certainty this will win :)

everythingwasbees 2017-07-31 18:33

Some serious Nuclear Throne vibes, which are good.

First, the art style is absolutely fantastic. Gorgeous game, good animations, just a pleasure to look at. Screenshake is much appreciated, sound effects are all solid, and the music is really nice as well. It's pretty apparent that you spent a good chunk of your time making the game as gorgeous as possible, and it really shows! The fact that your shots get less powerful the more your power decreases is a wonderful implementation of the theme as well.

However, on the gameplay side, I do have a few suggestions. The camera is kinda unwieldy and unpleasant. It moves far too much, far too quickly. Coin drops could also be increased or item cost lowered, as it really isn't all that fun to endlessly farm enemies for powerups. Enemy count could also probably be reduced a bit as well. Finally, a way to quit the game beyond ALT-F4 would be appreciated, as it automatically starts in full screen.

Still, probably one of the prettiest games I'm going to play from LD39. A few tweaks, some expanded content, and I'd purchase this in the future.

zyzzyzzyz 2017-07-31 18:49

Design all round here is great. Good music, attractive visuals, satisfying gameplay. I really liked the game feel. Many LD games don't get time to nail down the feel, but here there was a nice impact to the gunplay. Certainly doesn't feel like it was made in just 48 hours. I did have one issue: when running the game fullscreen, I got music but the screen was black. It was fine in windowed mode.

xedithdev 2017-07-31 20:17

I had A LOT of fun playing this game, it was a lot of fun getting to learn the enemies and the shooting. The graphics were REALLY good too. I really enjoyed the way the game played. I really think you could turn this into a commercial game with a little more work! Very nice job!

peredom 2017-07-31 21:23

WAW. O.o Thanks a lot for all the positive and helpful coments you guys left!!! Glad you liked the game <3

belga54 2017-08-01 01:38

Man this game is so fun !!! The pixel art is great and the audio is perfecto !!!

drewg8 2017-08-01 01:46

Very well crafted game, the loss of shooting ability as your power runs out it very creative. It seems to take a lot of inspiration from Vlambeer games, especially Nuclear Throne. If I had any criticism, it would be to have the camera follow the player instead of the reticle to increase control.

brickkid512 2017-08-01 01:46

I couldn't stop playing. Good job

pbg 2017-08-01 01:50

Nice game! It sits on the border between Nuclear Throne-inspired and Nuclear Throne fangame :). Very well put together.

I think it plays great, but having your gun degrade with time is difficult. The game is sooo much easier with your big gun, and the dropoff means you want your power to always be maxed out. Also, the sounds are a biiit loud. That being said, it's the most playable game ive played in the jam yet, and i plan on coming back. Nice job!

red-fan-games 2017-08-01 03:02

Tried the game out on a windows machine. Definitely worth the weight! It plays beautifully and seems to have that "Just right" feeling that your inspiration had. Shots are satisfying and loud making the game a joy to play.

P.S I made a windows version for my game so you can play it.

maxthecat 2017-08-01 03:03

Fun game! It feels awesome to fire at enemies at later battery levels, just mowing them down by the hordes. Though it does get harder pretty quickly, which isn't too bad until you start running out of power, then it gets almost impossible to survive amidst a huge crowd of enemies. But anyway, I had a lot of fun playing and probably will keep on playing to try to beat it!

miltonnh25 2017-08-01 05:57

Good job with the game. It felt very satisfying to play and made great use of the theme. The guns felt very nice to use. I would love to see this game continued in the future.

As far as things to improve the game for the future, i feel making the enemies more threatening would help since they didn't pose much of a threat, especially with how absurd your shoots become later :).

ryte2byte 2017-08-01 07:24

Well, you've never heard of Nuclear Throne .

Something about your screen shake implementation gives me a headache. Can't really put my finger on what it is, tho. Never had a problem like that before. Would have like to see some more threatening enemies thrown into the mix on the early levels.

Looks and sounds great! A real class act!

digitaldude555 2017-08-01 09:35

The screen is just black for me. I got 1060....I don't know why it's black.

romain1151 2017-08-01 10:37

Hi, this game is a real good game, congratulation, I like that

huvaakoodia 2017-08-01 10:59

The inspiration is clear, the graphics and audio are fine, but unfortunately you miss the mark in a few areas.

There's no challenge, ever. The level 3 spread shot you start with is more than enough to dispatch all and any enemies. There are batteries everywhere so I never had to use the level 1 blaster after trying it out. The lack of challenge only intensifies with every battery upgrade you find. The purple death lasers are so over powered that I genuinely zoned out of boredom and nearly died as a result. That should not happen!

On top of this the screenshake gives me a headache, seems I'm not the only one either.

Without challenge there is no fun, simply grind. Here are a few suggestions.

Power should be rare to come by. This creates a sense of urgency: find the next battery at any cost. To mitigate the frustration of not finding a battery the player could have refillable (costs money!) reserve tank which is automatically used should they run out of energy.

The super weapons should drain a lot of power, choosing to switch to a lower powered weapon conserves energy. Fighting enemies is a choice, avoiding them might save energy after all.

One excellent example of urgency and challenge from LD 38 is [Quantum Catburetor](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/quantum-catburetor). It has a shrinking level mechanic, which is fitting to the theme and more importantly works like a charm. Do give it a spin if you missed it last time.

In conclusion: Quality workmanship, yet the design is a bit lacking. Good work for 48 hours, don't get me wrong.

shell-pirate 2017-08-01 13:21

This one was pretty impressive for a 48 hour game. It's more than obvious that this is essentially 'Totally Not Nuclear Throne: The Entry', but that's not really a bad thing. Nuclear Throne is a ton of fun, thus, this game is fun as well. The weapons feel good, and it's a joy mindlessly blasting enemies to hell and back. The music is swell and while the graphical assets are nice I will say that I have some slight issues with them. They mainly have to do with the color palette, as enemies and even the player sometimes easily blend with the environment (such is the case on the second level where you have a red background with red enemies on it). A better use of complimentary colors would have made the game look a lot better. A thing I liked a lot though is the decreasing of the player's firepower with the decrease of their energy - it made energy more than just health and it also added another subtle layer of player feedback when it comes to informing them how their energy levels are doing. Overall - very good work!

daydreamerstudios 2017-08-01 19:37

Amazing game! I could play it for hours. Keep up the good work.

isubka 2017-08-01 19:37

Saw this on twitter. I admire you acomplish to do this on your own in only 48h! Congrats :)

designernap 2017-08-01 21:20

Very nice game. Good juice and feel here. Great use of sound and screen shake. All round solid entry. Well done!

player2point0 2017-08-01 22:58

Really fun to play and beautifully made. I really like the joint shooting and health mechanic and how it made me really focus when on the last bar of health.

rombus 2017-08-01 23:53

Really cool game here man! The screen shake was an awesome touch.

Love the graphics too and works great on linux via wine :D

Congrats on the entry!

kappalite 2017-08-02 05:30

COOL !!!

anatei 2017-08-02 15:23

Amazing! It's very cool game) Good luck)

thebmxeur 2017-08-02 16:22

Too much screen shake (it's bad for your brain), tearing (bad for you eyes) and the frame rate drops (bad for your brain and your eyes) if there are too much enemies and shots.

pio 2017-08-03 02:18

All of the elements fit really well together in this game. There are places where it's hard to get more power which makes it harder, but because some enemies drop power too, the game is not impossible to beat. Perfect balance! The powerups and the store for buying equipment make this game really fun to play. On your game's itch.io page there is no version for GNU/Linux, but it works well through WINE. I also like the infinite charger that you get after you finish the last level.

Now there is a really huge problem with this game that I have. After the last level it brings me back to the first level and when I do it again it brings me back again and again... I'm stuck in a loop! Help! How do I get out?

dgollahon 2017-08-03 05:30

Nice job! The graphics are *excellent*. Gameplay is pretty solid too--i like the health/firepower tie in (vaguely reminds me of playing starfox 64). As others have mentioned, it has a clear Nuclear Throne feel.

I think the recoil effect might be *slightly* too strong / felt a little jarring, and I kind of wish I had a compass or minimap from the start. I also wanted to go down the ladders and get more money to buy things, but that didn't seem to be an option.

All very minor things though, great overall!

peredom 2017-08-03 12:03

@pio after you beat it there's no more levels, you keep looping in the same levels. to get out there's an old school trick called alt+f4 ;)

brorawr 2017-08-03 22:29

Very Vlambeery, I like it!

Not much more to say, polish it more, give it a good backstory and some cutscenes and you have a good arcade game for release :)

Great work!

ledez 2017-08-04 04:03

Excellent game. Very fun and addictive.
