Very good the dust when jumping, the simple animation also liked, this gives a good feeling when jumping. XD

Brilliant! Would love to see a full game
Interesting, and hard
@xavierseal To quote JW, one of my favourite game devs of all time, there is a difference between hard and short games :)
Really like the letter shaped platforms. Made for some really nice puzzles.
Wow, best one for now! I think you could work with this concept little further and do a "real" game from it in future :)
Really great job!
Is there any way to get out of the room with the six computers? I cannot jump up through the roof, am I missing something here? Maybe a special letter combination or something?
That is all for my stupidity :-)
This game is just great! Aside from great music, sounds and graphics, it is very innovative. What a cool game mechanic, changing the letters. Also it is very well paced, it felt great when I found out that you could change the letter in the middle while jumping!
Really, my greatest respect to you, this is awesome, great game design, I would buy the full version immediately :-D
@gonutz Thanks for the kind words! There is no way out really but you were on the right track with the letter combination idea. It even looks/sounds different when you put a letter in the right spot. Maybe it was too cryptic and vague. Some people seem to figure it out pretty much instantly while others fail to grasp the idea and give up.
Really like the art style and sound effects. When he jumps it sounds like a fart with that smoke particle effect appearing below him. Got stuck after the letter T section and didn't know what to do. Good game though.
@flobar :O
Well that's a surprise. So you didn't realise you could use other letters besides T?
Had a load of fun with this one. It's such a creative mechanic! Great job.
First game I played and it really set an unfair precedent for the others. Seriously great work, it felt complete. I died about 3/4 through and immediately started over so I could finish. I'm proud to say I got to the end. Really cool how it felt like I was figuring out my own way through the puzzles and a good difficulty curve, starting off simple and then gradually introducing concepts and techniques like quickly pressing to change letters while you're "in" the shape.
This game is incredibly creative! Great job getting each letter to interact without any issues with the world, I can imagine there are many different solutions to each of the rooms, different from the ones I used. I kind of wish the full keyboard would be supported (so numbers and special characters could be used) but you can go through the game with just the letters just fine. Great job!
@gamepopper Many thanks! Haha yeah, I was thinking about adding all the characters but just adding full english alphabet was enough work. And most of the letters are pretty useless even as they are now. There are just a handful of really useful letters that will get you through the game just fine by themselves.
Very innovative concept. Gameplay is smooth as butter with subtle hints how to play.
I really like the fact that there are multiple solutions to solve the room.
I'm not sure what the character is supposed to be, a sysadmin with a voodoo mask? :p
Love the core mechanic of the game, I've never seen anything similar before. Can't even put my finger on anything in need of tweaking, really cool.
Really great game: great idea, glitchless, simple art/sound that fits really well all together.Good work!
I was in ZedKrazes stream when he tried this game and had a chat with the developer of this game. Seems like a really nice dude and this game turned out great! I think I have seen a game like this back in the day on newgrounds, but it was fresh to see something like this amongst the entries. A+!
Amazing, I really like the idea. The design is brilliant, and the game gives a lot of fun. Very well done :D
Great game.
Awesome graphics, I really liked the player animation. The letters idea is brilliant and original.
I'm sure you're really proud.
Congratulations!
@brorawr Yeah I think it is pretty much inevitable nowadays that each idea has been already done to some extent already. I wouldn't be surprised it something similar has been already done but didn't really research it because wanted to keep my idea of it fresh and unbiased.
And yes, I am a really nice dude :)
Great gameplay mechanic. I found it surprisingly hard to think of right letter shapes to pick!
@daniel Oh yes, it's so funny to see people start staring at their keyboards looking for the correctly shaped letter. Something so mundane and familiar to us as letters are, you don't usually think of them that way.
I loved this concept, it got really interesting once you had to use multiple letters.
A really fun and interesting idea with a lot of potential. But i'm missing the connection to the theme.
Very cool ! like to choose between 26 pattern that we all knew, so the "learning" is quite easy ! a good idea ! and a good game too !
The concept for this game is so freakin cool. Amazing job!
@player2point0 It's not easily noticed if you play it well but the terminals have limited amounts of respawns. So pretty much the same as most of the games on this LD, a power/enegry that is running out. That's exactly why I wasn't really a big fan of this theme.
Really good idea and great implementation too along with nice stylish graphics and good music. Got stuck at the 6 terminal room.
I figured out the 6 computer room... eventually, after managing to bonk my head on the top of the screen. ^_^
:star: You have a neat puzzle-esque platforming mechanic here, I liked it, and enjoyed playing this game a lot. The graphics were very clean and consistent! Good work! :point_right: The music, and graphics didn't really signal abandoned ancient ruins to me. The limited respawn per checkpoint definitely felt like running out of lives, but not power... even just juice up the respawn a bit could make it fit better with the theme.
Overall good job on this game. Thanks for making it!
@hitchh1k3r Thanks! The "story" was pretty much an afterthought. Had to come up with something for the description field ;)
Great gimmick. Not sure how I got a game over.
@ganbaregameskyle Thanks. Although I'd like to call it a mechanic and not a gimmick :)
You died too many times. The terminals have limited number of respawns each. It displays the amount still left each time you die.
I love this game!!..very good idea and nice designe
Great Job
Very nice entry. Using the physical shapes of letters is very awkward and made for an interesting mechanic. I wished there was a way to clear letter slots; I felt like i had guessed wrong and blown my chance once (with the three balls)
Very cool and unique mechanic! A lot of fun!
@elliottd I intentionally did not include clearing of the letters because of the rooms where you need to get past the letters vertically/horizontally with correct shapes. And I wanted to keep their rules the same for each room. I did notice that the triple ball room gives you pretty much just a one good chance to do it but I kinda liked it that forces you to think differently on your second try. Almost like a hidden bonus puzzle. There are plenty of ways you can still do it even after failing the first time.
Really Cool idea solving puzzles with Letter! Also, good audio and it feel complete!
However, in the stage that have three ball, at first there is no letter, letter appear after I type. Then, I want to let the letter disappear and use O to trap the ball but I can't find anyway to make the letter disappear!. You have already drawn a ">[]" on computer scene, why don't you just make the backspace button work?
Here is other opinion, at first I want to say why there is no any hints for player at last scene but that's fine when I know it's the last scene. However, I think you should still put some object with hints so there are more player can finish the game haha(I know you already give feedback when player type right letter but may be more, I saw some comment said that they can't figure out)
Last one, it may not help but I still want to try. 11.jpg I don't know are you setting the collider in this way, if yes, I think you can just make one big collider for the whole wall so the player will not stuck on wall! That's a problem when I want to make a game which each wall box is able to be break faced long time ago. I think your game are not going to break any block(at least now). if you want to make some block breakable, you only make individual collider for them.
Interesting puzzles and cool concept, nice entry!
@goldranger Thanks! I already explained the ideology of not allowing removing letters and the triple ball room on the post above yours. You're right on the collider bit, they wouldn't all need to be individual colliders. But this problem is present only on few places where there are bricks which aren't aligned properly.
@goldranger Oh yeah, the final screen puzzle. I know it super vague and introduces a new puzzle style right out of nowhere but that is just my style. I don't like being too hand-holdy with tips in my games. I'm fully aware of it being a problem and rage-quit moment for some players but on the other hand, it gives a better feeling of accomplishment for the ones who manage to solve it on their own.
Actually, in my opinion, I like the way you did. It's because you have already do some reply when player get the right letter. When I arrived that room, the first thing I did is type a "L" and jump to the second floor, then I found that there is no way out but only six computer there! Therefore, I start to type in random letter and I get the reply! Then I figure out the answer after randomly found out the top three letter. The moment that I found out the answer just like the cartoons, a light turn on above my head! it is just awesome!
I point out just because I saw some comment said they can't figure out :P
One word - prefect!
What a great puzzle game and a new mechanic idea (at least for me)! I love the art style and the graphics too. The background music was okay but a bit annoying after a while. The sound effects were good. Didn't make it to the end but had a lot of fun trying to get there ;-) I didn't really get the feeling of power running down...
But nevertheless this is a really well done game, congrats!
I loved it! Has a couple of those "wow" moments when you figure something out, a mechanic or solution. Really nice polish, super fun. A+
Really interesting concept! I especially like how many different ways you can solve puzzles with the letter mechanic!
Great game! The mechanic of using letters to resolve the platform puzzles is awesome. Had a lot of fun playing it.
Really great game loved the concept of teh whole thing
Finally! I get in the secret room! Actually, I find the entry when I first try your game and I tried a few times but all got stuck on wall! Then I think that may not be a secret room and just keep going! However I try again today! After 4 tries, I finally get into it HAHAHAH!!! That's already cool to find a secret in a normal game and it's super awesome to find it in a compo!
Awesome job. Loved it. Could get past one area but will be trying again. Love the black/white. Mechanic is crazy cool. Thanks for a great game!
Super, SUPER creative game here. A key thing that stands out with this game is that you are already familiar w all the potential answers, so you sit there and analyze all the options in your head before you go in (assuming you're running out of enough lives). A great puzzle is one that makes you think and project your idea into the world before you do it. Other puzzle games only have a small language that the user can use so they don't necessarily think through as many options as this game. One of the best LD ideas I've ever seen.
@goldranger It's not really a secret room, it's in plain sight after all. Most people I've seen play it try to go for the room, fail and keep on moving forward forgetting that it was even there. Just wanted to create an illusion of the game not being so linear.
@peachtreeoath Thanks! This is exactly why I added in the letters crushing the player if it spawns on top of the character. I wanted to punish reckless brute forcing and make players think before the go. And as a happy side effect of that, I had to put in less death traps which then made it feel so that more of the deaths were players own fault.
Really cool and creative game. Excellent concept. Good job.
I uploaded my gameplay of this game on youtube, you can find it here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsqBPBihnpA
Thanks for being part of the stream :)
@togis Thanks again! Something pretty sad came into my mind right after your stream yesterday and just confirmed it from the video. You're so used to getting screwed by the default key bindings of games that you made the game harder for yourself by changing to less familiar keyboard layout. Not saying that I made the game with "alternative" key layouts in mind but just a happy accident that it would work with them.
@antti-haavikko Hey! Yes indeed this game would work perfectly on my AZERTY layout. But it's not that sad, even with an alternate layout the game doesn't require much dancing around the keyboard so it was not a big issue.
@togis Yeah but the sad bit is that you're so used to getting screwed that you change to QWERTY without even knowing if it's required.
Very innovative, excellent concept. Working only with QWERTY keyboards, but that's really ok. I enjoy a lot your game, I play more than I planned to do, so great job :)
@goloso-games What did you try it with? I'm guessing it should work fine with azerty and dvorak as well. Should work as long as you can input the english alphabet so probably not with cyrillic ones etc...
very original gameplay. Platforming with letters is genius.
Very cool idea! I assume that I solved puzzles in different way than they were designed. But it gives you feeling of being smart ass :sunglasses:
I like small details like the dead end with computer saying "Hi!". I'd rather remove the restriction on number of tries. And computer at the very beginning is a bit confusing: maybe it's better to replace its image with some arrow pointing off the cliff.
The ending is clever!
P.S. I made Mac OS build for my game, so if you still want to try it take a look at comments section. Thanks!
@n-feofentov Yeah I noticed the issue of the first tutorial terminal being kinda confusing pretty fast after the compo. It's supposed to be the right arrow of the arrow keys but people seem to think it's an icon for a video or something. Probably would have been the best way to include all the arrow keys or at least both left and right arrows on the image.
Interesting idea. Nice to play :ok_hand:
I have to confess, I got pretty frustrated at first to the point I almost stop playing....but I'm glad I didn't. Once I understood the mechanic I was hooked (this is because I did not read or looked at the gifs...my fault. lol). Very nice! That last room took a bit but once I had two letters right, I was like "OOooohhhhhhh! Clever" :D Great work
An excellent concept, and executed really well to boot. This could easily be expanded into something bigger than a jam game.
The art is solid and nicely stylized. The music got a little repetitive after a while, but the game isn't that long so it didn't bother me. Decent sound effects.
The only two things that got to me were that my character sort of got half-stuck against objects sometimes - though that also saved my life a few times - and the letter controls were a little awkward at times. But that's kind of the core concept and just something I as a player should learn, really.
Great effort, I hope you continue work on it.
@prodigalson Could you explain in more details what really frustrated you? I'm guessing the part was the one after the initial T section? Was the issue not finding a correct shaped letter or not realizing that you can use other letters besides T at all? My intention was to have player kinda accidentally figuring out the whole mechanic of the game by having the same T letter not work there. If I'd go tweak things on the game now, I would make that letter area smaller so that other easier options (like L) would work there as well. And maybe even adding the correct letter to the terminal after a longish delay (like 30 seconds). At that point even the people who refused to try out things they weren't instructed to would probably get the idea.
Very innovative idea. I really enjoyed it. I got stuck in the part with 6 computers, otherwise it was a very fun gameplay. Excellent job!
Very innovative mechanic. I thought it was very clever and challenging. I'm not really seeing how it fits the theme but I think it's a dope game.
Very nice, superb idea and well produced. I'm impressed
Very innovative idea, but was a very low replayability and nothing with the theme. I beat the game in around 15 minutes (5 for last puzzle) and have no reasons to play again.
The minimalist graphics are awesome, but the music was a little repetitive. The player was too many lives. I guess than 2 or 3 per room is enough.
@fl Thanks for playing and your feedback! Yes, my take on the theme was pretty cop out and obscure, probably would have been a bit better idea to represent the lives as a battery icon instead of numbers.
I wasn't really going for replayability. It's kinda hard to do that with a puzzle game. And I know it's short(ish) but I think it hits the sweet spot for a LD game. I wanted that majority of people playing it to be able to finish it (or at least reach the final puzzle). I'm also already working on **a post compo version of it and it currently has around 5 to 10 times the amount of content** of the original.
You are also correct on there being too many lives (at least for most of the rooms). I think the only room where anyone has ran out of lives is the room before the final puzzle. I'm actually most likely going to remove the whole limited lives mechanic for the post compo version...
Totally agree on the music bit. That is why I'm recruiting someone else to compose it for the future version of the game :)
A clever idea, well implemented. I liked that very much.
Excelent entry! the game is really clever and well polished. I really liked it. Everything work well i'm really impressed. the only point where the game is a bit off is the theme everything else is amazing!
WOW
The abundance of monitors and the gray tones of this game reminded me of what a pain it was to write an essay about monitors. God, it's so good that I came across this [statement of purpose writing service](http://essaylab.co.uk/) then. Without him, my life would be much more difficult. I advise you to try it at least once.
