Absolutely fantastic artstyle, would love to play a bigger game outside.the jam
Nice game. I really like the graphics and the sound. Great game!!
Speaking of which, will you be making a bigger version of the game?
Very cool. The breathing noise while wearing the oxygen suit is distracting as hell, but it adds to the immersion. I liked the sprites and the secretive backstory. Well done!
We actually planned a more content for the jam, but could not get everything in there... So no bigger version is currently planned. But thanks for the nice comment, that might make us reconsider ;)
I liked the way you created the story and the way you put in little jokes here and there. An initial hint to use a key to interact with things would have been helpful but once found out it is pretty straight forward. I must say that I was a bit disappointed when the plot suddenly ended by going to sleep again. I thought that the story would develop a bit more but who am I blaming. 72h... Well Done!
As a web developer, I realy liked the web-based approach and I'm hoping that more devs will go this path in the future!
The game itself was surprisingly lengthy and detailed, it really nailed the atmosphere and I liked the story driven nature. My only technical complaint is that the game's UI is not responsive, which means that I had a scroll bar on my screen resolution and had to scroll to see the dialogue boxes.
Felt polished and nice pixel graphics. It had good atmosphere going on and i really got curious what that little creature was. Good job!
Great storytelling ! I love the way develops from a standard point and click to something more interesting, story-wise.
Pluses : - Excellent storytelling, with a bigger plot teased during the first part, and for the backstory to be revealed afterwards. - Nice graphics - A ton of care went into prevent the player from getting lost, so kudos for that.
Possible improvements : - Although it contributes to the mood, the slow movement linked to the space suit tends to get old
Overall, great little game !
That was an awesome story. Really atmospheric and spooky and weird and funny all at the same time. Only feedback I would give is to clean up loose text triggers like after you go to the first terminal and do the task you shouldn't get the same text to tell you to do it again after its complete, but other than that great entry.
Uhm. It feels incomplete, just as I was getting deeper into its lore and went to bed mistakenly, it ended. Nice mystery in only 3 days though. The graphics are nice and I love the details to the sound effects. Nice game!
Whow, that was the first game I played to put ratings on this jam45, and it was a very cool experience! The ambiance is very cool. The computer is explaining to you what you have to do when you're stuck, and it's a very good idea. I liked my suit and the fact that my speed was very low, with this nice breath sound. I think I finish the game when I put VHS on the computer, but there was no "real end" (or I missed it!) Congrats! Nice game!
I really like the art and the sound in this game and when you put on the suit it really feels like there is a weight to it. Good job.
Thanks for all the kind feedback! @zsombro, yes, we did not get that one. We might put in a bugfix next couple of days. Thanks for reporting :D @appoxgames Sorry, but no clue. I didn't give the creature much thought when doodling it ;) @tomfu, @itsdanidre true, it is unfortunately incomplete ;) We planned several endings and did not find the time in the end
I liked the setting, and the mood. I have a little bit of criticism, though. When you wear the special suit, the character moves just too slowly. Fortunately, we don't have to walk too much in that suit. I also did some resizing in the browser window, and the game doesn't seem to adjust very well to the different scales and aspect ratios. However, playing the game with the window maximized works fine, with the exception of a few times when the text overlapped with the avatar shown in the dialog box. All of these are minor issues. Nice work.
On the abrupt ending: While that's definitely correct, it's still worth to explore the ship a bit before you go to bed ;) @tomfu @itsdanidre
@adam-konig Very fair point with the text triggers. We started a little to late rounding out these little edges :D
@pierallard I think you've reached all the content we've managed to implement. In the end we needed to curtail the story a bit because of time pressure. Thanks for the feedback :)
And sorry for the maybe a bit too slow space-suit movement. I guess that's my fault :D
Thanks a lot for all the critiques so far!
Nice game ! I liked the atmosphere. Here are some elements suggestion and bugs :
- The player hitbox could be smaller. - You can read the newspaper when looking in any direction as long as your are in front of it. - The fact that things are forbidden for use with the message "I don't have time for that" get a bit disappointing with time.
Thanks for the game :)
I feel a bit stupid since i didn't really figure out what was the nothing in this game (was it the dark at the beggining?). But I don't mind that, this game was really creative and I love this type of games! Super congrats to art and mood you managed to left on me so I'll leave the suitable grade (5S!).
@sver clearly your brain IS the brain of galaxies, this was great! Graphics were very polished, although there were a few instances where things didn't read that clearly as top-down objects, the generator room console comes to mind as it kind of looked like other objects that hadn't been interactable. The little console puzzle to bypass the broken generator was a nice touch.
@hellper thanks for the feedback, we'll look into these as soon as we find some time (most of them were shortcuts, due to the narrow timeframe) ;)
@lukvasando, sorry if the game made you feel that way, that was not the intention :) You did not miss anything. So no worries, you're certainly not stupid: We could not cramp the whole story in there... If you explore a bit after Lisa announces your jobs to be done, you still might get some idea where we were going.
@smitto Thanks :) Since you give feedback here, I think it's possible to ask a question here to your game... In case anyone reads this and wants go over to check smittos excellent game out: Spoiler alert! When I get to the computer-room there is a person standing around who I cannot interact with even after clearing the room. I noticed something was floating above the room (a green teddy-bear?) but could not turn in any way that I could get it into view or interact with it
Really good game with some polished graphics :) The game itself is pretty good :) There was done a good job on this game. Good luck with your entry. :)
@sver thanks for the kind words! Yeah, in the build we threw up to make time the alien model is floating above the scene, and it seems there's a collider on the ground you can get stuck on. Your teammate @simonl left some great suggestions that I'll be responding to, we're currently working on a post-ludum patch to add sounds/fix bugs and he hit all the main changes we'd planned!
Really cool art style and environment! Fun puzzles as well. Great work!
@smitto great! I'll try to finish it then ;) Our own bug-fixes will take some time, since every day in the working week in the day-job after a Ludum Dare seems to be a Monday...
@lanalux Thank you. And thanks again for playing it live. I really enjoyed your stream, and subscribed to watch the other test-plays :)
Nice work! The only real complaint I have is that it wasn't always clear what could be interacted with... oh and the walking was painfully slow with the suit on. That said, I played it all the way through and enjoyed it, so nitpicks aside, well done!
I really like this game! I know that the visual style is not for everyone (but personally I love that), but there're so many details, for example - a different description for each object. There's a full story (despite the fact that the game is short) and home-made sounds.
This was very fun to play! The artwork was amazing and gameplay was really logical, but the story felt a bit incomplete. Overall, this is an amazing Ludum Dare entry!
This was a cool puzzler. I liked the settings and the visuals, and the puzzles themselves where reasonable easy to solve for an ldjam playthrough, but maybe a bit too easy for a larger game.
Amazing game with great writing. Reminds me of that movie "Moon".
This is among the best and probably the most interesting entry I have tried so far. I really appreciated the clever use of sound and the animation of putting the space suit on. There is a level of polish here that deserves to be commended.
Well done ! The game really looks polished. Good story telling too. I don't know if we can escape in the current version. I find the secret story but I didn't find a way to escape my destiny
Overall: An interesting story told in a neat interactive way. An enjoyable and memorable experience.
Fun: The fun in this game comes from discovering the story. And I think it's a really great story. Short, of course, but I really like the idea. Well done. (Have I really seen everything - I watched the VHS but I don't know if I can do anything with the username found on the sticky note? And there's a line along the lines of "don't go to the cryo chambers" - that strongly suggests that I can and should go to the cryo chambers - but I found no way.)
Innovation: Yeah - innovative storytelling!
Theme: Sure, it's there quite nicely in the plot reveal.
Graphics: Nice! All the graphics look good and consistent. I like the way Dave looks. (And of course they would make him look that way!) Animating Dave putting on his spacesuit - that really goes above and beyond expectations.
Audio: Nice!
Humor: Yeah, I enjoyed exploring all the terminals and reading the quirky messages.
Mood: Good, thanks to the memorable story and accentuated by appropriate graphics and music.
Thanks :)
@r2d48 Yep, sorry, we planned several endings and did not get to it. In the end it was a trade-off between polishing and contents. @reheated Same there... the sticky note and newspaper were part of our story-script but did not make it in the end. Same holds true for the cryo chambers :(
A short & sweet game with a nice story. The only thing that I didn't like was the font used - it doesn't fit the pixelated artwork.
^Thanks for submitting this game to our P&R-Stream! Just played it through (as you already know) - The stroy was quite short but after all it's just been 72 hours or even less... The game was funny and I love playing it. You got all the comments in the stream though.
This game is so much fun! Would love to play a longer version:)
A nice little adventure. Felt like steam-punk meets Red Dwarf. A little bit buggy but that can be overlooked due to the time constraints.
There isn't much gameplay here, although I still had fun playing through this adventure. I think you really built a good atmospheric feel with this game. The graphics, sound and story all blend well together.
Nice game! I finished and I saw your names very weird or flickerds, in overall good job!
I wish the space suit didn't slow me down so much (or always whistle as I breathe), but it played well and looked pretty good.
Fun game! Such a big scope for a jam and you guys still managed to deliver a game like this. Nice story telling, a stylized theme, good controls.
The font felt a bit out of place though and the gameplay is kind of lacking, but hey it's a jam.
I actually really liked the space suit effect in a way, though I put it on as soon as I came out of the room
Really amazing effort with this one, very atmospheric and engaging. It would be amazing if you were to continue this and to develop this into a full game with a larger story, as it already feels like Lisa is slightly evil. Truly amazing job, well done!
That was really nice! I was expecting more lore like, finding out where I am and who put me there. the ambiance was top notch, I was pretty immersed. I could see this being a polished little game if you refined it! Great work.
This had such a nice look that stood out, and you could see a full game being born from this project. Loved the mood and having a nice little story experience from a jam game was a fun surprise.
Very cool game! I really like such handcrafted stories. A lot of surprises and references and details and jokes and little twists here. Well done. :)
