LD45 — Start with nothing

Hungry Holly by Avon 2019-10-20T15:04:44Z

A fun little arcade game that I can see thriving on mobile platforms if controls were adapted a little to suit. The difficulty curve ramps up nicely and offers a good challenge. Graphics are cute, and sound matches that to complement the overall tone.

Unlock Everything by DDRKirbyISQ 2019-10-07T06:28:09Z

Can't believe you managed to cram this into 48 hours. Very well done!

Survival of the Fattest by loveapplegames 2019-10-19T20:42:49Z

The perfect time killer. Sumo Diet is my favourite. The sound effects gave it a real old skool arcade feel.

Nothing Matters by kazuo256 2019-10-18T16:58:14Z

A unique and clever concept. I feel that the controls are a little awkward as a keyboard/mouse combination, and that a gamepad would work better with this, but that's my only real criticism. Well done!

Big Tomato by Jakob Willforss 2019-10-19T21:04:41Z

A great little game that I hope you develop further post-jam. Reminds me of a game for the ZX Spectrum called 'Pedro', although this is much more fun.

Doors by N4tticus 2019-10-18T23:14:33Z

Fantastic idea, and I love the resemblance to FTL. But at the moment, for me, the difficulty is way too hard from the beginning.

Ghost Memories by 966623 2019-10-19T20:56:32Z

Very short, but I liked the premise. Controls of the player should be disabled when in the menu. The artwork is very nice.

Catzy by vlandemart 2019-10-20T18:37:34Z

This is a game I am going to come back to occasionally providing it's still being updated. I think the idea is great and I had fun playing it. I find petting the cats a little hard when they're over another area that can be interacted with, so perhaps have them avoid areas like that are use a different button to pet them.

...and to Nothingness Return by philomory 2019-10-20T14:33:38Z

A great little puzzle game that definitely deserves a 5* rating over every aspect. You've done yourself proud with this entry, and it fits the theme perfectly.

Dissociation: Shadow of oneself by mindtricks 2019-10-09T20:32:06Z

Interesting little game, any plans to do anything further with it?

Tower of Minos by Bernhard 2019-10-25T15:49:48Z

Simply put: Superb. My only criticism would be to maybe have options to turn the border off (distracting) and the screen shake, as that made me feel a bit ill after playing for awhile. I can also see this being fun as a 2 player game, where the other player plays traditional Tetris, trying to block in the first player, or possibly a co-op. 5*s all round. Well done!

The Only Way is Down by Roka Josh 2019-10-20T13:36:33Z

Just finished playing. I managed to reach the third cavern before meeting my ultimate demise, but definitely had fun along the way. There feels like a nod to HERO in this with the space man exploring the caverns and using dynamite to reach other areas - so a game like that as a roguelike will be great to see. I look forward to seeing if you take this any further.

Mole Bass by Rubel_NMB 2019-10-20T14:58:13Z

This is such a strange game concept, yet it works and it's obviously a innovative idea. Do you have any plans on doing anything further with this?

Mind Game(s) - Prologue by samboyer276 2019-10-22T16:48:54Z

An enjoyable text adventure without a horrid parser. You managed to squeeze a lot of content within the time limit, and it was entertaining to play, with a great sense of humour. Not sure if this is down to the engine or how you've designed it, but the interface was very intuitive, and I liked the way the display didn't have to refresh with each option taken. The background visuals were a nice touch too. Will definitely check back to see any more content you might make with this engine.

Start with Muffin by Sibi 2019-10-22T19:11:28Z

A game worthy of 5*s. Couldn't fault a thing. Graphics are cute, music is on a fairly short loop but rather than irritating it's quite catchy. Puzzles were challenging enough, although if I feel like if there's an element you should add, it's definitely baddies. All in all, a great effort!

Draw Your Own Adventure! by detectiveLosos 2019-10-09T20:57:20Z

Very nice. With some work this could make a great story creating tool.

Newborn AI by Lars-Erik 2019-10-18T15:01:02Z

I'd like to have rated this more but the game froze up on me when I clicked on the Email app, and then when it started up again I lost where I was. The GUI is great, though. Inspired by Another World, perhaps?

Newborn AI by Lars-Erik 2019-10-18T16:30:25Z

@lars-erik This is what I refer to :) https://i.imgur.com/JiUNNWr.gif

Naked Guy by kaeveris 2019-10-18T23:24:17Z

The game feels pretty buggy, managed to reach the exit but get caught at the same time so the level repeated with the extra piece of clothing I found regardless. Jumping doesn't feel right either, with getting stuck on the edge of platforms... or is this meant to happen?

Other than that, the game looks great and I'm sure with a bit of polish it can be better.

Dream Avatar by ynneblack 2019-10-22T16:13:48Z

Never been a fan of VNs but this one was at least unique in that it wasn't saturated by annoying characters. Also I'm quite interested in lucid dreaming, and you captured the essence of dreamlike states very well. It's understandably short, but I'd like to see more.

Living Forrest by Majadroid 2019-10-19T23:25:17Z

Quite a learning curve on this but once you get into it, it's a nice little sim. Graphics and sound fit the mood of the game.

VoidTech by loganthemanster 2019-10-18T16:47:04Z

A nice little adventure. Felt like steam-punk meets Red Dwarf. A little bit buggy but that can be overlooked due to the time constraints.

2D PLATFORMER EXE by GabrielGameDev 2019-10-18T23:38:03Z

Fun little game. I enjoyed seeing all the elements slowly come together.

Dreamscaping by Kirbloid 2019-10-22T17:02:23Z

First impressions: I didn't find there much of a game here to be honest other than messing around with the different combinations of dreams and nightmares, but the art is very nice, and the music helps to establish a mood that's both peaceful and unsettling at the same time. I may have totally missed out on something re: the game play, but interested to know if there'll be features added later because it's definitely memorable and unique.

GettingHome by Mowgli 2019-10-20T18:25:09Z

Short and sweet but I like the concept, although it appears you've opted to flip the theme (end with nothing). Graphics are very polished. A real shame there is no sound.

Nothing In The Way by JediNeeson 2019-10-11T23:34:30Z

A great example of a simple concept executed well. Look forward to seeing this grow and expanding on the idea. Hopefully having more than an 8 second sound loop as background music too ;)

Girl in a Dungeon by Phoenix Fireflower 2019-10-18T23:03:06Z

A nice ramp in difficulty. Graphics are simple but well polished, same with the gameplay. I can see this being a good little game once it has some music, more levels and variance in gameplay.

Tightrope Gauntlet by Jonno 2019-10-06T23:18:22Z

@twinturbodouche If you press down just before your feet hit the rope when falling from a jump you should be able to land safely. It may take a little practice. You can press down if your feet go beyond the rope a little bit so it doesn't have to be pixel perfect. If you still have trouble though, I'll make a note of it.

Tightrope Gauntlet by Jonno 2019-10-07T00:12:57Z

@lars-erik Thank you my friend :) I do plan to put an attract screen mode to show how the game is played.

Tightrope Gauntlet by Jonno 2019-10-08T22:36:07Z

@diaonic @brtek007 Thanks guys, I know what you mean about the game over screen, so I will tweak that. I understand that the controls can be frustrating too and have been thinking of having a play around with them (mainly the button used for landing), and add some instructions in game.

Who cares if it's buggy, just ship it! by ItsNotAGoodTime 2019-10-22T17:14:27Z

Has The Oregon Trail feel to it in the story mode, which I love. The arcade mode also has the germination of something that can be great when/if it's joined to story mode. So far so good, I hope you continue to work on this project post-jam.

Click-N-Move by TwinTurboDouche 2019-10-18T14:55:10Z

A good compo submission. Great memories of Smash TV to be found here. 4 second music loop a little annoying but other than that, well done!

LEGION by crunchykingcobra 2019-10-08T19:20:38Z

Nice execution of the theme. I especially liked how you used the time limitation to come up with a concept where you could use the same sprite.

Nun in the Chamber by BrokenMirrorMedia 2019-10-19T23:11:14Z

I agree with what most people are saying regarding the difficulty and the absence of sound. The game feels good, though, so I can see with a bit of polish this can turn out to be a great little game.

Caravana by Josh.Galecki 2019-10-18T15:27:58Z

Combat in this game is pretty frustrating but I can see where you're aiming at with this. The engine is sound, though you should be aware that any buttons being pressed during the end of combat skips a lot of the dialogue when it goes onto the next scene. I look forward to seeing what you will do with this in the future, as I think it definitely has potential.

Spit warior by BRTEK007 2019-10-18T15:11:42Z

I managed to reach to the end so the game definitely held my attention. Any further plans for it?

HOBO DAYS by FinnThePirate 2019-10-19T00:44:31Z

The game has a great mood and the music helps to create a sombre tone. A couple of bugs I noticed, at one point the money I had came to a strange decimal number like 0.2800000 dollars, and often the responses of people would be reversed if I changed direction. I noticed one person spawned on the left side of the screen and immediately walked off the left side of the screen too.

The game definitely has potential. All there is to do at the moment is beg people, but I can see the game becoming quite addictive if more features were added. Overall, a great submission for the short space of time it was made.

Empty Stomach, Empty Toilet by Idontknow 2019-10-09T20:37:58Z

Who knew that raisins were nature's speed?

Nocero by Empty Set 2019-10-20T15:15:49Z

A fun spin on turn-based JRPG battles, and Nocero is a true character that I'd love to see a full game built around. Got stuck in a battle with a balloon because I couldn't use the vault attack and couldn't escape the battle, but other than that I can't flaw the game.

Blank (Demo) by CatilianGames 2019-10-09T20:19:43Z

Great little concept. The art style reminded me of World of Goo. Would like to see how this progresses.

Defective by CafeLovai 2019-10-20T13:24:55Z

A fantastic entry. Art and sound fit the mood of the game perfectly, whereas the game play is solid considering the time constraints. I can see this evolving into a great little arcade game, reminiscent of Atic Atac. Given that comparison, my only criticism would be the speed of the game. I feel it would benefit greatly if the action were faster to get the old adrenaline pumping. Other than that, though, one of my favourite entries. Well done.
