Haven't smiled at much in a long time, really great ideas put into one game. My only problem is lack of challenge and intro seemed too long and mundane but the mood, artstyle and music are worth it.

erkberg 2019-04-30 16:24

Pretty awesome, slightly hectic, really funny game! The visuals and audio are both top notch, the gameplay is varied but a little to repetitive, would've loved to see something other than "more of everything" in the other rounds. The cursor leaving the window was a little problematic at the hammering part. The flying track sounds a bit too noisy for my taste, but otherwise the music is just amazing (as usual from you!). Overall, this was great fun! PS: I felt really bad for those cute little turtles... :)

seconddimension 2019-04-30 19:52

I loved this, it was a perfect game jam entry. Loved the original Mario Kart vibe you had going on with the audio too.

t-bo 2019-05-01 13:06

Fun game with nice music, nice voice and nice gameplay ! I love the fish-hammer ! ( Poor turtles ! ).

shuu 2019-05-02 07:18

Interesting game, but the intro was way too long and drawn out. Cute art style and nice music.

mcovert 2019-05-02 07:20

Adorable! I'm not sure why we don't use turtle-coins already; they look amazing. Would like to see some more variation in the rounds, and the intro was a little long, but overall a really solid entry!

purrseus 2019-05-02 08:55

Super cute artsytyle, amaaazing sound design (reciting all those sources is quite genius to set the mood!), hectic and fun Wario-Ware-esk gameplay, a goofy and cute story - what not to love? Again, a really strong contender! :)

Sadly I encountered a bug where I could not start the fire in the final round. The fanning worked fine, but flame and temperature did not increase :( Apparently noone else has encountered this bug so far, so I'll propably try out again later to see the ending.

ddrkirbyisq 2019-05-02 09:06

@purrseus: Thanks so much for playing! Sorry about that -- the final round's fire requires quite a bit to get going (the stone is very large). Move your mouse REALLY FAST back and forth =X

purrseus 2019-05-02 09:25

This time it worked fine, I guess it really was some kind of bug.

And now I'm actually laughing because I played through mostly the whole game again to see THAT  Awesome. I'll keep the last song play for a while, I hope you'll put it on your website ;)

ddrkirbyisq 2019-05-02 10:54

@purrseus I hope to release the OST soon, thanks! =P

jjjjason 2019-05-03 02:10

This is the future that capitalists want!!

I came here knowing the music would be stellar but y'all really outdid yourselves this time. From the Mario-Kart esque startup tune, to the cheesy round 2 ending sax, to the oh my god they really did it cover at the end, it is a wonderful audio-visual experience that you have crafted. Let's not lie here: geese are abominable beings. You managed to make this one cute.

Feedback? Uhh...sure! The cut game is a little less fun than the other three! I wish the in-browser version captured my mouse cursor! That's all I got.

arcana 2019-05-03 03:12

That was rather beautiful. To be honest the gameplay wasn't that compelling, but the controls were super tight and really responsive and playing three rounds actually made me appreciate how good the response was overall. It felt like you were slamming coins.

I kept on playing as soon as I realized that the launch was the DuckTales Moon theme, because it was too fitting. All of the retro video game music references were great.

chriiis88 2019-05-04 10:20

As is somewhat of a tradition by now, playing one of your games is a highlight of the jam. The story is as funny as it is stupid and the (minimal) gameplay is really satisfying. Well done.

alexrose 2019-05-04 15:07

Easy 5 for audio. Love the Wario Ware vibes, and the song references. Looks beautiful. This is going to score very highly.

goomboo 2019-05-04 16:10

I was really surprised to see the name DDRKirbyISQ in the credits ! I'm already a fan of your music, but I didn't know you were making LD games too

The game is amazing by the way, the art and audio are both top-notch and the mini-games are really fun to play. Definitely one of the funniest games I've played yet !

kyavi 2019-05-04 18:28

what a beautiful, incredible, special experience! love every element of it!

peachtreeoath 2019-05-05 04:39

Totally great experience, even though it was linear it didn't matter, you crafted a super engaging game that kept pulling me along. This is one of the rare games, if not the ONLY jam game that has ever made me want to keep playing based on music alone, it's that good. I'm a huge fan of To the Moon and you evoked some of the same emotions from that game (along with every other music reference you had in there lol). Super polished experience and a little reminiscent of Gravity Bone in that it just leaves you with a smile on your face about the whole thing.

caranha 2019-05-05 06:01

Hah, this is so weird, I loved it! Loved the musical arrangements too :-)

cornettheory 2019-05-05 10:11

Good stuff, I dig everything about it.

lereveur 2019-05-05 15:56

Your entries are always unexpected, and I still find this specific poetic touch. There is no challenge at all, but it's fun to play, and let me smile. Thank you!

foolmoron 2019-05-05 23:48

I love this take on the theme where the duck's life is currency. The minigames really felt like warioware, and the graphics and audio were super Yoshi's Island which I haven't seen in a jam game before. The best was the hammer game where you really get into a flow with the mouse and spacebar. I wish the game wasn't so scripted into 3 games and instead had an upgrade system where you tried round after round to get to the moon. It would've worked really well, being able to upgrade all 3 minigames separately and trying to balance them to optimize inflation. Still, the current presentation works really well.

awesomealliterationalliance 2019-05-06 21:12

I am so confused... and yet so very intrigued! Sometimes you experience something that is so utterly incomprehensible and still, you just know it makes sense on every level.

You managed to pull off a hilarious and very entertaining game here. Very nice! The music, sounds and art style fit together really well. The voice acting was great and oh my, the story! I don't even know what to say about that, except, hats off to you!

Great entry, thank you very much for making it :D

pandan 2019-05-07 18:14

firefox_2019-05-07_11-12-14.png

Wooo!

I guess my only comments are the "compo version" isnt really in the spirit of the compo since it was more than 1 person involved..

But I will grade based on Jam entry guidelines as it was submitted as such~ Really really nice & polished experience! The Art & Audio were fantastic! The storytelling was wonderful. I love this entry!

paul59 2019-05-07 18:37

Well polished and fun with good graphics, sound etc but shouldn't there be a timer or something for each 'activity'?

webox 2019-05-07 18:53

haha beautiful music and art, also a great interpretation of the theme, crypto-currency like. Great job guys!

ddrkirbyisq 2019-05-07 18:54

@pandan: Whoops yeah I guess the semantics are confusing. "Compo version" really just means 72-hr jam entry. Thanks for playing!

myrmyxo 2019-05-07 20:07

Wonderful game ! Your use of the theme is very interesting and the graphics and the music are really amazing. The gameplay may be a little bit repetitive but it is still fun even on round 3, where you always need more money. In this phase, in the last part, my mouse was getting off screen which stopped the game and I had to click over it to make it work again. This really reminds me of WarioWare ! This was very fun, Congratulations !

miu 2019-05-07 21:10

This game is really cute, I enjoyed playing it also the art style and the music are great :)

ithildin 2019-05-08 00:24

This game is...just...beautiful

I had a dumb smile on my face from the intro to the "Thank you" screen. The concept is wonderfully absurd both in general and as a take on the theme (I love it!!), graphics are cute and crazy, and the music is just brilliant.

The full package feels super well rounded, the only weaker point I can find is the repetition on stages 2 and 3, more wacky microgames would have put the cherry on the cake, but for a jam game it's hard to imagine getting better than this.

One of my top 5 games so far for sure, impressive job!

pranjalbisht 2019-05-08 04:40

Okay, I have no idea what the f*#k I just played but...man, this was amazing on an emotional level, y'know. Insane job with the audio and overall art direction! Everything was just so filled with...feeling. I don't know what to say, I just feel so lost right after finishing it. Amazing job!

secretpocketcat 2019-05-08 09:59

Great visuals and amazing OST as always and a hillarious take on the theme. I was not really that enthralled by the game bit itself. The minigames were kinda charming the first time round, but by the final round it was getting on my nerves and just wanted to get to the story, which was definitely the highlight.

BTW. the *compo* version should probably be named the *jam* version its in the jam category, so who cares.

corbak 2019-05-08 16:51

Top notch little game as always. Amazing idea for the jam and a lot of fun. It's nice to see how you visit so many subjects with so many applicated ideas. Thank you for this cool entry! Well done!

zoneoutapps 2019-05-09 15:35

Love it! The story, the absurdity, the music...excellent work!

jeffrey-newton-evans 2019-05-09 15:58

This is it, this is my favourite game from this jam. I played and loved Colours of Your World last jam and was my favourite from that jam as well! Your games have so much charm and heart put into them, from the soundtracks to the art style. Ahhh... and the chiptune fly me to the moon at the end made me laugh out loud in public, so thanks for that  It reminds me of something Keita Takahashi would put together, but with a Sonic/FF6/Earthbound soundtrack. Perfection. :ok_hand: Can't wait for your next entry, great work! :sparkles: (Ps. played it on iOS and it was super smooth!)

tommyflower 2019-05-09 17:49

Ok you are MY winner. Loved the story that could sound like a last minute adaptation, but don't get me wrong, that would be only a plus, because it's so funny! I loved that (you added an intro scene with great voice acting!) The minigames are clearly presented and the controls perfectly balanced. The graphics is consistent, stylish but smartly simple. The animations are effective, what else can I say. Oh yes the music! I really liked the fact that minigames are connected and make sense inside of the story. This is going on my phone right now and oh..I have to learn soo much from this entry! Great great job!

monkeydvrus 2019-05-09 17:51

Absolutly awesome!Absolutely awesome! I love the graphics and the cinematics. I hope the goose is not really dead ^^

kuro 2019-05-09 19:37

Ahahaha  This was so idiotic, goofy and random, and I absolutely loved it! Perfect submission for me! Fun, great looking, great sounding, had a silly plot, the game length was ideal. I don't know what to criticize here. Perfect 5/7 Great job!!!

foodzilla 2019-05-10 06:55

Congrats on the rapid work for this! Mine this time didn't turn out, so I cleaned up bugs and left it up as a tech demo.

I'm guessing Unity really is the way to go for these jams!

kuro 2019-05-10 13:45

@foodzilla I think if you had your engine you're comfy and profficient working with, it could work as well. But yeah, it is definitely a way to go.

kuro 2019-05-10 13:46

Okay. Why did I feel the need to play this again? I'll drop by and leave the next comment at tenth playthrough, if it comes to it. I don't want to spam you.

dock-frankenstein 2019-05-10 18:00

It's so beautiful!

ddrkirbyisq 2019-05-10 19:08

@kuro No worries ^^; Glad you've enjoyed our game! :)

mika-la-grand 2019-05-11 16:17

Well polished game! As others have mentioned, the intro is a bit long and you could change up the gameplay in the later rounds (now it's just more of the same). The fail screen was also the same each time, maybe as the duck falls from a higher heigth in later rounds he breaks something. Then you also have gameplay variety as he needs to fix his broken body first.

jezzamon 2019-05-12 06:20

:sob: :sob: it's... perfect...

Incredible! Nice job making this in the jam!!

yngvarr 2019-05-12 10:19

This. Is. Freaking. Incredible! How do you, people, come up with such stuff? I mean, you must have a truly creative mind to imagine stories like this.

A little annoyance for me was inability to skip cutscenes, but everything else is just great! Especially graphics (oh, this consistent style!) and sound. @ddrkirbyisq, are you a professional composer? I've been sitting with a finished game playing music in background for the last half an hour. =)

Great game!

ddrkirbyisq 2019-05-12 11:17

@yngvarr: Thanks for playing! We added cutscene skip in the post-jam version since that was one of the first quality-of-life improvements we wanted to get in. Also, please see my complete music discography at https://ddrkirbyisq.bandcamp.com/ :)

puppetmaster 2019-05-14 17:45

Super creative and crazy game that made me laugh, especially in level 3.

Very well done, congratulations.

peterfonts 2019-05-15 10:28

Amazing game! Maybe create different gameplay variations in the different minigames (not only add more turtles or punch more times) something different than the previous gameplays can increse the challenge of the game. Cool intro and ending (there are a lot of work here)... this honiric universe is the best thing (for me) of the game! The gamefeel in the different minigames are awesome! It's a great game! Congrats!!

krammetje 2019-05-15 10:31

This is a really good entry. Enjoyed the story and the "minigames" style.

duke 2019-05-15 10:39

SUPER INFLATION! This was unbelievable. Very polished and in itself contained little experience. I was really invested in the whole story after the intro and the level progression was working very well, even though it was the same 4 minigames all over again. The audiovisuals were really the mvp of this game. The art was gorgeous and very well crafted. The style fit perfectly to the theme. And the sheer amount of different songs you had in there... wow! I really liked the nods to different games via the music. Every aspect of the game felt very professional.

One of the best things I've pleyed here so far. Just awesome!

gamefive 2019-05-15 12:24

fun fun fun ^^

jk5000 2019-05-15 12:24

A super funny and very well made game. Well done.

zanagi 2019-05-15 14:06

Great presentation, fun gameplay with nice visuals and music! Probably the most fun game I've played this jam. Great job!

yopox 2019-05-15 16:01

Everything was perfect, I especially loved the humoristic tone and the references in the music :heartbeat:

f1krazy 2019-05-15 16:08

This is such a wonderfully imaginative game. It's utterly bizarre, but that's what gives it its charm. The sort of WarioWare-eqsue, minigame-driven gameplay is something I don't think I've seen before in a Ludum Dare entry, and it fits the game perfectly. You managed to make it fit the theme in a pretty clever way, too.

Good job, well done!

dev-dennis 2019-05-16 15:23

This game was really awesome, thank you for making it and making my day way better :)

mgsx 2019-05-16 16:12

I liked the overall "WTF" :D this is brillant! very fun game! Ah ah ah!

Intro scene and all cut scenes are very impressive for a jam, graphics/animations are awesome too.

I had a bad feeling with the first music too close to mario kart original songs. I read what you've done : remixing with original instrument, that's cleaver but it would be a better derivated work if you've composed original theme with these instrument. Result is good though.

Congratulations!!

ransom 2019-05-16 19:54

This is really goofy, haha. I'm getting some Mario Kart and DuckTales vibes from the music, and I definitely recognize "Fly Me to the Moon" at the end. It'd be nice if there were some variety in the actions in day 2 and day 3, but I do like how they ramp up in intensity.

Very good job!

nnnikki 2019-05-17 19:46

Wow! Such a great game! You should work more on this, maybe make some more story and add different dialog when you fail the second time. It was laggy (escpecially when I flew past the leaves of the trees - it was ~4FPS), but that's for pretty much every single Unity game I play, so I can't complain. I loved it.

barret 2019-05-18 03:41

The game was short but polished. I had fun playing a wario ware style game. I honestly not sure how it related to the theme but I didn't care

hitchh1k3r 2019-05-18 05:04

I'm glad I waited for an iOS build (again ^_^), I imagine it woul dhave been much less fun with a keyboard and mouse. I got SNES vibes from this (and recognized the Mario Kart references, but there definitely could have been more -- I didn't have a SNES as a kid). I had a feeling it would be three rounds (and even guess the name of the last one), but am glad you put "Final Round" at the outset, I could see players falling off especial if they were using a mouse.

It would have been fun to see a new mechanic or two worked into the second and/or third days. Overall great job, I enjoyed playing this!

tshiif 2019-05-18 07:22

Flattening with the hammer - weirdly satisfying.

zubspace 2019-05-18 19:30

Wow, holy cow! What a marvelous entry! Wonderful intro, funny story, perfect sound & music, engaging mini games! Only the ending was a bit gross. Love it!

aeveis 2019-05-19 06:26

The turts got eaten :open_mouth: though I guess they are also coins. Really funny, though I'm not sure how the metaphor of inflation works hah, though I guess that's part of the funniness. Great art, I like how my expectations had to be adjusted (turt coins, birds powered by inflation, gooey moon..). nice job!

pkenney 2019-05-19 21:02

Haha, that was a zany journey! Both of my hands are aching slightly, and it was good to have breaks in between rounds.

This is super-charming, and I found a lot of little touches to enjoy, from the fish hammer to the way the flight music would shift and introduce new elements to mark the transition from one round's section to the next.

I like the way the art takes on a very different feel by having the couple of, umm, dirty specks on it, rather than being a straight color. That's a really effective small touch I might just have to experiment with stealing for my own programmer art.

This game was definitely weird, but it was a wild ride that I enjoyed, and it was just about the right length to feel substantial but not wear out its welcome.

Well done!

random-storykeeper 2019-05-21 00:47

I'm really curious how well this will play on mobile, so I might download the iOS version at some point. I did play the original Jam version, and it was giving a real workout on my wrists. Nothing too demanding, though.

The biggest issue for me was that the graphics didn't quite match up with what the rest of the game was going for. The gameplay, the silly references in the music, the narrator...these elements seem to match up with an over-the-top cartoon style rather than the pastel colours and cutesy art. I like the graphics and the visual references, but I don't think they were an appropriate style for this sort of game, especially going all out with the arcade sounds and the narrator. As a comparison, this game uses a similar art style to another of your titles, "Bath Time", and to me, that works because the rest of the game's elements and the humour are kept "cute". So all these elements work together and create a cohesive product. I didn't feel that way about Inflate Me to the Moon. There's too many over-the-top elements that make it feel very cartoonish and not cute. To see that similar art style being inserted into a game like this felt really off.

Actually, looking at the soundtrack, it seems like the game was going for 16-bit references in its audio; I'm wondering if referencing 16-bit graphics would have made it mesh a little better? If they were already referencing 16-bit graphics, I wish I could have seen a more clear connection.

The concept was interesting; I do like the play on the word "inflation" here. I thought the scene with the bird being launched into the sky was nice, and the progression of hearing more of the audio as the rounds progress leaves more sense of anticipation as I reach the final round. It was cool hearing references in that particular cutscene to "moon" related tracks. The combination between the Duck Tales moon theme and that motif from To the Moon was particularly satisfying. I couldn't quite catch all the references, but looking at them on the Bandcamp page confirmed some of the references I had suspicions of.

I wasn't super hot on this game, but I'm glad it appeals to other people. It just wasn't working for me in terms of cohesiveness, if I have to be honest.

strega 2019-05-21 06:36

Haha! Nice weird game. The art is lovely and the music is great as always. Good job with the voice over! Looks like you fixed most of the suggestions I was going to make in your post-jam version (mainly the hammer positioning issue).

pkenney 2019-05-21 23:53

Fishhammer Gold!! Congrats!

pandan 2019-05-22 01:59

grats on #1 humor!

sun-wukong 2019-05-25 15:29

Is there possible to lose in this game?

Well, disregard that, it is always fun to play a "what?" game. Also I appreciated and smiled at "Le voyage dans la lune" reference in the end.

kuro 2021-07-29 11:36

@ddrkirbyisq still playing this from time to time in 2021 :v:
