Very unique! It's a really short and sweet text-based game, tells a great narrative. The only thing I can think of to improve it is to make it longer! :P

Really interesting and original!

daanvanyperen 2020-10-06 14:02

Love it! The puzzle element works great and the ending was well executed.

Excellent text adventure. Great balance of mystery, humor, and scifi. The puzzle later on was simple but satisfying. Makes great use of the theme and solid conclusion! Very small detail but a slightly muted background could make the reading strain on the eyes a little easier (although I could see the brightness of the white being intentional since it does match the atmosphere).

This is really solid. Good storytelling, good gameplay, good adherence to the theme. Question: What is the ending where you let him open the chamber? I misclicked and really want to know

flaterectomy 2020-10-07 21:26

@tuatarian The term [spoiler warning](https://i.imgur.com/sIRgVcL.png) applies here.

I like the text narrative. Though I ran into an interesting issue where if I chose to restart the game, Firewall doesn't unlock when it should.

flaterectomy 2020-10-08 08:49

@epb9000 Thanks for letting me know,I must have forgotten to reset that variable on restart.

lereveur 2020-10-08 22:59

I confirm the bug, but I'm too curious so I reloaded the game just to know. This is a solid first entry all by yourself, I liked the mood, even if the end is horrible (the poor guy will probably die without even remember why he's trapped in by another guy, dead thousand years ago, who decided to let him alone - so the crime is probably terrible but he never will know again). Good job anyways, and keep doing the LD by youself, you proved you deserve it!

I'm generally not someone attracted to text/story adventures but I'm glad I stuck with it. The ending was !> chilling and very Black Mirror-like.

You did a good job with the pacing - keeping the playing in the dark and revealing what was needed. The gameplay felt like a wild goose chase dealing with incompetent people, kinda like a bad customer service call haha.

When I got to the main gameplay screen, I did get the impression I was going to have more of a power % puzzle to play with to move on. That wasn't the case. I suspect you wanted to do more of that but ran out of time, just a guess.

Cool game regardless, welcome to the world of solo LDs :P What made you opt out of a team this time?

flaterectomy 2020-10-09 15:55

@lereveur It's game breaking for a second playthrough, so I will have a look and fix it. And thanks for the kind words!

@peachtreeoath Thank you! I haven't written a story in ages that actually had an ending to it, so I am glad it wasn't a let-down.

Your remark about the bad customer service is exactly what I was going for. While there is a loop narratively, the constant redirects were meant to be the source of looping frustration.

I had such ambitions regarding the puzzle. It was going to be an order of magnitude more complex in my mind, but I had to very clearly file that into the *overscoped* column. I'm probably going to write more about it in a post-mortem this weekend, if you're interested at all.

I found out that LD47 was happening the day before it actually began. My usual teammate @daanvanyperen who does our programming also wasn't aware, and couldn't commit to it due to other things going on. So I decided to give it a go alone for the first time. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how it went.

strangeryann 2020-10-10 15:25

Very interesting in terms of structure and way to present this idea - fresh, nice one fellas :-D

craig-cordeiro 2020-10-10 17:55

Love it! I feel like making fun acronyms for all the different subsystems would have made it even better!

LoL Loved it!

Great narrative and nice implementation. Transitions between systems are a bit long though, it quicky becomes boring to wait 4 seconds every time.

aidanmarkham 2020-10-10 18:10

Really great writing in this one! Excellent work. The only thing that could improve this would be some background music to set the tone.

mcovert 2020-10-10 18:13

Interesting story; my math-brain would've liked the available power to matter a little more, but I recognize not everyone's as much of a math nerd.

humnyn 2020-10-10 18:20

Very nice and simple little web game :-) I wish there had been some audio feedback or music, it would've definitely helped with the ambience you were going for. But the narrative was great, and the script was very polished and easy to read. Good job!

hidjy 2020-10-10 19:19

Wow, may be the best LD47 game I played so far ! Great writing, game design and the theme is spot on :)

teinree 2020-10-11 09:58

This is amazing, i think the best game i have played on LD47 as for me. Does anything happen if you open the chamber at the end? Because i chose to take more time, but the game ended. Great job!!

acaral 2020-10-11 14:09

Not fan of the textual games. But I must admit I had a good laugh, and the text are well written.
