Making a physical game is so cool!
Fun, cute, great mechanic, great job! First fishing game I actually like!
audio doesn't seem to work for me? I can't figure out what to do?
I don't quite understand how to tell which teeth are sick, but the art is beautiful!
Would be nice if more of the story was actually in the game, I was a bit confused what I supposed to do at first.
really cool mechanic! love it!
Love the character, gameplay reminds me of those old flash games I loved
Wow! This is a great experience! The wave effects are great, the physics are fun, hard but simple. Really cool!
The level design is evil, love it!
audio is quite annoying, but rapid fire triple shot feels amazing
Fun gameplay, good movement, genuinely funny, great entry! My one nitpick is the skateboard makes me want better ramp physics
cool simple concept! I also experienced the timing issue that @ausstein mentions btw. It would be cool to have the guy slide back and forth rather than teleport, might give a more concrete timing hint that way too!
Great mood, love the movement and game feel. Great use of 3D. I was disappointed there wasn't checkpoints each level though and sometimes I couldn't pick up crystals when it seemed like it should work? Overall awesome job!
I started to get bored at first, but I pushed a few more flights up and I'm glad I stuck with it! The game got a lot more interesting, and the end bits were funny!
Hmmm, I get a strange bug where my camera wont stop turning?
A noir detective game? And it's so cute?! Amazing job!!
very original concept!
Huh, what am I doing wrong? Even with everything on low, I keep losing power?
Love the lighting, the ship controls are a bit frustrating but pretty good. What bugs me is when I turn and the ship dips so much! Interesting also how the strategy is not just to fly into all rings, I found a lot of paths were not worth the detour to get the ring which added some more DEPTH (get it?! -sorry-) to the game play
@jag "itβs one of those things you donβt notice playing your own game a thousand times" - hahaha yeah I feel that!
The music gets very repetitive lol, but the theme is wonderful and the gameplay is suuuuper satisfying!
Great vibe!
very moody, great dramatic lighting choices!
Mouse click a little inaccurate, but cool idea and fun execution!
very polished game! Graphics are especially solid, really like the explosion effects!
Love the take on the theme. Thought I was gonna hate the gameplay, but it wasn't bad
hahahaha, reminds me of that meme
guessIdienow.png
very awesome underwater atmosphere! Loving the murk effects!
checkpoints don't seem to work for me? Otherwise, the game is right on the edge of hard and fun. Good work!
Controls feel a bit awkward but I love the premise and the rope!
Very much needs a look speed option, but cool idea and great visuals!
Great sound and idea, graphics are a bit messy, but good work!
not my style of game, but the graphics and music are great
Like the vibe, wish there was an english version
I'd love to see this expanded with more cards! The combat mechanic is a lot of fun, I especially like the distinction between percent damage and absolute damage. Great art as well
I played another game with a similar setup, but this one is much more fun, the movement of the sub is really satisfying!
omg I hate it lol, for real though - top notch concept and a great job!
I definitely agree that the mirror moves a bit much when moving the character around. It feels like you were going for a gameplay balance there, which I like from a design pov, but from a vision pov it's somewhat disorienting
Really cool concept! I had a lot of fun doing the switches mid jump, I'd love to see a quicker cooldown on switching and puzzles requiring that!
What a terrifying fish model! The second face on it's face is a nice touch! Could definitely use some more mechanics, but considering you are new to unity and the time limit I understand the simplicity. Good job!
@2009yasha2009 @hollowheartedcabbage thanks! I'm really proud of him! I'm planning to add more/better fur patterns btw, let me know if you have a favorite cat coloring!
@jnur awesome! definitely an inspiration!
@jordanfb oh cool! I'm glad it ran! I spent some time saturday night optimizing stuff, so I'm glad that paid off! Btw, the "Quality" setting in the "Display" options is one of the biggest impacts on render time, it lowers the internal resolution which approximately doubles fps for me at 1/2 quality setting.
@rack47 hell yeah!
@jag oh!! great point! The shinyness of the water can also make it hard to see the sub sometimes from above. I made a literal sign model but forgot to put it in the game, lol!
@ayuv oh yeah I see there's a bug there. Looks like there is a workaround though until I get a patch! There's an unfinished "inventory" feature. If you hit 'I', it'll bring up the inventory view, and then you can hit escape and it will override the settings menu and get rid of all the menus, returning you to normal gameplay and it seems like the rest of the menu works fine after that... btw thank you so much for the bug report!
Ok! Got some sleep and a morning coffee, and got 2 patches out! Fixed the menu issue that @ayuv reported and an second related bug that broke the intro/loading screens, a bug where sea creatures would desire to explore the sky but get stuck next to the sea surface since they cannot in fact fly, and then I re-enabled the profile selection button on the main menu since it was accidentally disabled when disabling unfinished stuff.
@ugly-robot @izzqz @infecsean @sharky3188 ππππππ Awesome!! I'm so happy you all are having so much fun with the game! Thank you so much for the reviews!
@pretendcoding Aw lame, I'm sorry it's not running for you. If you don't mind, what cpu/gpu do you have, and did you play the patched version or the unpatched? Also, depending on the reason for the crash, the game will try to log the error to "error.txt". If the error file was generated, please let me know what it says, that might help solve the problem too!
@riggen XD were you going at full speed or turning super sharply? If not it may have been the cat tail colliding with the sub, had a really hard time getting that to work at all lol.
@pretendcoding ah ok, so in that case I'm guessing one of my shaders isn't playing nice with your gfx card. Gonna have to find someone to loan me an amd card lol
@jordanfb hahaha what a bad error message, luckily ctrl+f only found one instance in my codebase, so that means the game didn't find the shader files, did you happen to run the patch exe without the Resources folder? If the folder just has the exe, you gotta copy-paste that exe into your original folder to upgrade it to the patched version. I'll make the instructions more clear!
@dominic-graziano thanks so much!
@sam-gorman yeah, I'm definitely working on a low graphics setting! There is a lot to optimize lol!
@floppynub for real, although it's gone a lot better than I expected! I had a nightmare that the only comments were going to be crash reports!
@bongard22 oh aweosome!! Thanks for voding it too! You guys had some really great feedback!
@sam-gorman I'm stoked you thought it was unreal! This is actually made in my homemade engine! Also no worries about ratings, this is my first game jam and I'm just happy to have finished the game in time!
@fupi hmmm failed to create audio? That is very unusual. I've only seen that on a computer with broken sound drivers. Do you have a streamer setup or other unusual sound system? Either way I can make that error not quit the game at least. Thank you so much for reporting the issue!
@fupi hmm ok, thank you so much for the details! I made a new build with more detail in the error log for audio, also it now just disables audio rather than exit the game if there's an audio issue. If you have time I'd love to see if that version works for you and what gets printed into the error file from this new version.
@wetburritosupreme @farzher @dreo @dandee <3 thank you so much!
@sam-gorman @texugo the new post jam update makes the camera a lot better, and that's some great feedback! The plan from here is the refine the controls and add more content to explore and then sub customization :P
@fupi Ah interesting! That seems like it isn't finding the resources folder at all, did you perhaps not unzip the folder or move just the exe out? Thank you so much for troubleshooting this btw! <3
@fupi oh!! That probably has something to do with the problem! I bet I'm not handling unicode strings properly in some way! Thank you so much! As for the new error :< that usually means that your gpu didn't have enough ram to load the game - maybe though it's just the unicode bug again
Controls are pretty good, the exact angle you stop rotating feels a bit odd, big fan of the graphics especially. Simple but fun, great job!
Really unique take on the theme!
Love the movement! Very fun! Great job!
Spent a lot of time playing this one, great job!
Love the shading especially, wish I could rotate the camera though!
Love the physics of the stack of gems!
What a great and hilarious concept! Also the name, and the conceptual pun of dragon my crap around, great job!
Well done, coherent smooth experience with a good take on the theme. Very impressive that you did it in raw JS under compo rules too! My one gripe is how the collider kinda gets stuck on corners, I want to be able to kinda 'slide' around them.
I have no idea what's going on but I love it.
"And you don't seem to understand..."
The paddling is great, and I love the unique visual style!
Awesome! Running around as the cat feels great, most fun gameplay I've played so far! How are you supposed to save up 8 rat points though? The human wakes so quickly I'm barely getting the 3 each time lol!
Very silly, very fun! I love how the deputies can knock each other's hats off if you're sneaky about your positioning! My pc didn't think this was a virus, but I've run godot stuff before so maybe that matters idk.
noticed that the npcs can get stuck in the doorways after playing for a while btw hatstack.jpg
The reflection mechanic is awesome! Had a lot of fun with this one, I want some more difficulty :P
car physics feel good! I like how the environment is destroyable and the game doesn't penalize you for wrecking all the light poles!
Love the concept! I also need a sensitivity slider lol, is there any downside to just leaving the tractor beam on at all times? Not sure why sometimes the little guys don't wanna get abducted. I found myself going up more than expected?
Ah awesome!
If only you got free packs irl when you complete a binder page of magic cards XD
Nice setting! Really coherent vibe, makes me curious about lore and what kind of freaking birds keep 'injuring' my damn power cables! I'm usually less interested when games have distraction mechanics, but I got sucked in and it was fun to roleplay the shop keep side of the video game world. Also love the 'collection' of stuff you barter with, good use of theme!
I wish there was a dialogue for if you don't repair well enough, or maybe the hitbox for returns is too small, but I had some issues with the item receive triggering, so I started 'throwing' the items back at the customers. Then I was just kinda throwing my collection around and cleaning up and then this happened...
wasteland-pain.jpg
I can't reach it!
wasteland-cartoon.jpg
standout art and graphics! wow!
Love the art, music, and vibe, the dialogues are fun and thematic. Would be fun to see expansion into how you know the chances, great entry!
I spent 27 gold coins on this.
Love the hacking mechanic!
very silly, great vibe and mood
@hymirth lol was it the relic exchange altar? I knew I should have put it further from the wall. If you quit to menu, and then click continue it should respawn you unstuck.
bugfix disclosure: dungeon generation was broken slightly(in code characters lol, in game it was game breaking) causing tunnels to clip through spawn because I set the wrong seed and did 'and' instead of 'or' while checking for blocks, lol sleepy mistakes! bugfix-diff2.jpgbugfix-diff1.jpg
@baluj yeah, depending on what it takes to add webgl support for my engine I'm hoping to have web player ready for the next ludum dare!
@jk5000 It's supposed to be weird and chaotic to represent the magical catastrophe, but yeah I didn't have time to polish much, this is a solo dev game jam game after all. When you talk about the gameplay being difficult to understand, do you mean that as in "the goal is unclear" or "the fighting mechanics are opaque" - also I'm guessing you didn't get far enough to buy a weapon? Perhaps I should make it so you start with a coin so you can buy something day one.
@ghost-in-the-toast @conduit ah! I see there's a bug where you have to actually drop the relic in order to return it! That's awesome you got all the way up there though! I think I'mma develop the idea some more and put some kind of secret up there :P
Edit: fixed the grabbing bug and dungeon gen bug in version 1.0.1! :D
@denissobolev what fps did you get, if you hit F3 it'll show some debug info including graphics and physics tick rates. I'm surprised you had bad framerate as my main dev machine also has a 3070 and I verified consistent 60+fps at 4k on mine. There is resolution scaling though also, in Options->Display->Quality you can turn down the internal resolution.
@paulsams @denissobolev What large open spaces exactly? Are you guys exploring around the castle or talking about inside the archives/dungeon? I'd love to work all this feedback into a post jam version of the game!
@zircon123 It's a custom low level engine! That's strange you had a movement slowdown though, since graphics and physics are completely decoupled, and the physics runs on a dynamic timestep - unless you're getting really bad physics tick rate (like sub 20 ticks per second). If it's not too much bother, I'd love to see a screenshot of the game running on your system with the F3 debug stats menu open! (also what're your pc specs?)
@x2shadow hell yeah lol, thanks! This is a custom engine, so I haven't had a ton of opportunities to test it on various hardware, mind answering a few questions to guide my bugfixing? What gfx card do you have, and did you play version 1.0.2 or 1.0.3?
@b0guslaw updated the main post with the bugfixes, you can see most of the diffs if you scroll through the comments here too
hmmm.jpg
very fun and silly take on the theme! gj!
Really cool idea and beautiful art, the timer is really fast though! It can be hard to read all the bubbles in time. What does "proce time" mean, I looked up the word "proce" and it doesn't seem to exist, am I supposed to call the alien out or comfort them?
Love the intro, but I really wish the respawn was after it so I don't have to click through it every time I die
Love the concept of indirect control! Unfortunately seems to be bugged where after the first fight, my healer stays behind, then the mage and warrior go right until they see an enemy and just stop and hang out there.
Can't figure out where to go after a while, really cool vibe though! Also took me embarrassingly long to figure out the antenna needs to be put in a specific spot to get signal lol
The audio is not my favorite, but the gameplay is very interesting! I love the puzzle design! A quality of life feature that would be nice would be a way to snap yourself to the center of the current block, there were times I had to repeatedly redo steps because I was a couple pixels off and something collided with a wall and got offset from where I needed it. Great job!
Let's go godless Commies!
damn, couldn't get past the start screen for some reason it hangs every time for me :(
Really well done! Most complete feeling game I've played so far this jam!
Really cool! One suggestion though, turn the volume on everything up significantly, I got jump-scared by a system alert while playing cuz I had to turn my speakers up so far lol
@kayrum yeah I have it all the way up π
The vibe is great on this! I love but also hate how tiny the front window is lol, am I supposed to mostly just use the side windows to see where I am? I haven't been able to find where to use the radio equipment.
@artillepsy of course, I love it, I could not imagine a better flag or placement. /salute
Very cute, a bit frustratingly hard though lol, dang birds keep moving too far!
Fun game, love the destroyable walls, the fuel usage rate is brutal though lol
Ah cool, I remember part 1 from last time! Great art and engaging story, love playing adventure games!
fyi I ran into a block if you get the drunk to flip you off after he tells you the actual hand symbol it replaces it so you can't go inside
This is awesome, love the take on signals. Would love to see more complicated scripting in a bigger version of the game!
Fyi I'm getting a 404 not found on the download, you might need to reupload or put it on itch
what am I supposed to do after feeding the shark? Great itch page btw!
cool idea, but the guy is telling me to turn right and there's nowhere to turn? Does it just mean to be in the bottom lane?
@mofox ah ok cool I'll go again then
Funnest game I've played so far!
@t-c awesome! Yeah haha they're talking to you because you're on their computer, looks like they need to explicitly complain about it! :P
@arada @boring-wayne1 @head-priestess-ari @shanyu-jin @oradimi @500 thanks so much for the comments and trying the game!! I did start with a basic character controller similar to what I used for the last two Ludum Dare jams, but yeah git shows I wrote +5,449-1,905 lines over 167 files this weekend, that's a lot of work!
@fadex yeah, cross platform and web support is a big goal for the next version of the engine!
Sidenote, I noticed a bug where the last computer didn't display it's emails, added another download to Itch with the fix! Off by one error so easy when tired lol. FabricOffByOne.png
very well tutorialed!
Excellent sound design and great atmosphere!
love the vibe, also the intense fire effect is strangely hypnotic. I was stuck the walkie for a while, the 'dialogue options with the letters all replaced with boxes' was confusing
Really cool take! I wish it moved slower though, I feel like I'm always behind
fyi to others: attack controls are J and K
I love how this game takes place in a world where throwing your kid at people is totally normal. Majestic.
Really cool! Super satisfying to watch the packets send! Took a minute to figure out that the satellites are actually useful for getting more signal. The first level feels kind of strange though in that you have to exclusively use the 3rd tower?
Actually more fun if you don't use the signal ability, liking the dark mood lol
cool idea but very hard!
the echolocation is a cool touch!
