LD57 — Depths

5K to Mars by ruthiepee 2025-04-08T15:32:24Z

I don't get how a simple game can be this addictive and fun to play. It reminded me of those arrangement questions I used to have on my reasoning olympiad LOL. Really enjoyed playing it. BGM and the different sounds for all characters was a fire move. Great job!

🐾 Deep Meowgotiations by Silas Reinagel 2025-04-09T14:56:36Z

Absolutely gorgeous artstyle and the sound effects are nice too. Feels like a game I'd play to relax after a long day. Good job!

Into the Depths by pres2300 2025-04-09T05:51:01Z

Simple but fun concept. Them two yellow enemies pinned me to the wall, had to spam them with the pistol LOL. Good job!

Mr. Money's Phenomenally Soggy Water Removal Romp by Rhoka 2025-04-09T15:09:49Z

Simple fantastic! From the goofy visuals to the relaxing bgm, I loved everything about this game. Simple but very addictive concept. Good job!

Gaga Diver by JustusPan 2025-04-08T15:41:32Z

The two-way mechanic is a very creative interpretation of 'depths' and the implementation is really impressive too. Fantastic job man!

Dark Depths by buckmeister 2025-04-09T06:26:42Z

The rolling mechanic is so addictive. It’s really impressive that you were able to build something this incredible in just 72 hours. The visuals are stunning, and the sound of the submarine is very satisfying to hear.

Thrill of Anguish by Pythorogus 2025-04-09T17:42:13Z

Looked very easy at first. Thought I could just fall to the bottom as there was no fall damage. Little did I know I'd have to climb all the way up LOL. Love the level design. Really wish the player could attack. Fun experience overall, good job!

Blackout Protocol by eggsscrambled 2025-04-09T06:09:25Z

Love the visuals and the sound. I can only fix one generator before the monster finds me. It'd probably be scarier if I played it at night LOL. Great job!

Sewer Shift by Saryah 2025-04-09T11:11:28Z

Amazing visuals and sound design. I enjoyed playing it but there was this one little issue, while looking around the camera would just snap a couple pixels forward in the direction I was trying to look, made me go the wrong way multiple times. Other than that, fun experience. Great job!

Descent Protocol by DuKe.ua 2025-04-08T07:49:28Z

I kept dying because I didn't realize it was thorns/vines and not grass LMAO. Love the swinging mechanic. Fun experience overall. Not a fan of the background music though.

Heart by FunnyPumpkin 2025-04-08T09:33:31Z

The art looks amazing, and the ui suits the overall setting of the game. Moving between the layers of the forest feels weird but in a good way. I wish we could sprint faster though. Fun experience overall!

Not Too Deep by Crak 2025-04-08T07:13:16Z

Love the concept. I was frustrated at first because I could not get the right speed lol, but that is what got me invested. Good job!

MindDive by Tikotey 2025-04-09T10:49:27Z

This game made me realize that I really am a sucker for FPS games LOL. I feel like the balls that the enemies shoot coulda been a bit faster, but maybe that's just me. Fun experience overall, good job!

Sonar by Kawair 2025-04-08T09:21:30Z

Felt like a game I'd wanna play when I'm too tired to think. I managed to get to around 120 m. It took me some time to realize I was going the wrong way at first LOL, realized it only when I saw that depth was negative. It's challenging but doesn't make you think a lot, which is what I liked.

Treats for Charybdis by fragskye 2025-04-09T05:44:58Z

This CPU 1 person has really good reflexes, it'll take me a couple more tries before I can finally beat them.

Rise to the Unknown by RaiiNamoor 2025-04-08T15:18:04Z

Love the artstyle, and I can't explain it but the sound that the elevator makes is very addictive LOL. There's some challenge to the game as well, which makes it all the more interesting and fun to play. Great job!

@poboy Thank you so much, it really means a lot, especially coming off my first jam. I’ll definitely explore how that could blend with the mirror-based mechanics. Appreciate you taking the time to play and drop thoughtful feedback! 💙

@kawair Thank you so much!! I’m really glad the concept resonated with you. Totally hear you on the mirror movement — that’s such a good point. Especially when the player is moving, I feel like the mirror moves a bit too much. I think I could have spent more time trying to find that sweet spot between clarity and control. Appreciate the kind words and the thoughtful feedback — really motivates me to keep building!

@toupaks Thank you so much — that really means a lot! I had a blast brainstorming weird mechanics around the theme, and it’s super rewarding to hear that the layered interaction came across well.

Falling by ayuv 2025-04-08T16:54:43Z

@ficho Thanks a lot for playing! I’m really glad you liked the idea.

And yeah, the gameplay probably feels a bit off because of the large motion scale of the mirror. Maybe I should’ve limited its movement while the player was moving.

Really appreciate the feedback — thanks again!

Falling by ayuv 2025-04-08T16:55:37Z

@turkissh Thank you so much! Appreciate the feedback.

I actually planned on adding illusions as well, like reflections in the mirror that weren’t real obstacles. But given the tight deadline, I dropped the idea. Maybe post-jam I’ll try that, along with inverted controls to make it more challenging.

Falling by ayuv 2025-04-09T16:46:14Z

@pythorogus Thanks so much for playing my game! I'm really glad you liked the concept.

To regen stamina, you just need to collect the capsules/pills — just run into them!

Falling by ayuv 2025-04-11T05:29:34Z

@nnmbzr Thanks so much for playing — I’m really glad you enjoyed the backwards falling mechanic and the wall friction idea!

As for the sudden deaths, you’re probably running out of stamina without realizing it. The player has limited stamina while falling, and once it runs out, it results in a crash — even if you’re dodging obstacles. You can refill it by collecting the capsules floating around.

The Depths, A Floppy Cat Adventure by KataStudios 2025-04-08T07:35:55Z

Controls are addictive and movements of the cat are fun to watch. I tried lowering the quality settings but I just can't seem to get out of the pause menu every time I change the settings. Escape doesn't work and when i press 'back' the ui becomes huge and I'm stuck. image_2025-04-08_130520830.png

@katastudios lovely, imma go have some fun moving this goofy cat around LOL

Depth of Moments by Lev Ramburg 2025-04-08T16:07:37Z

The artstyle is absolutely gorgeous. I feel like the bgm is a bit too loud for this setting, but maybe that's just me. Also, what happened to the guy who was fed mushrooms? LOL

Depth of Moments by Lev Ramburg 2025-04-08T16:11:03Z

@nsadie Happened to me as well, but I figured it out by sheer luck. Apparently, you have to empty the bag by dragging its contents out of it. Also, I was able to move the compass and other stuff only after moving the cursor a bit to the left of the picture, dunno why though.
