I really had a jumpscare when the void came to claim me! i loved it the simplicity and the style of the chain elevator is so cool!
@poshaus Heh, yeah, I figured I should have given the player some indication that the void is coming, but it was another corner that had to be cut. I'm glad you liked it!
Nice job! Artstyle is amazing (♡°▽°♡)
Nice idea! Really love the engine sound!
Love the artstyle, and I can't explain it but the sound that the elevator makes is very addictive LOL. There's some challenge to the game as well, which makes it all the more interesting and fun to play. Great job!
Cool idea, nice implementation, cute graphics!
I really like the art style of this game, it creates a sense of silence and desolation with just a little bit of sound effects. I felt very lonely when I was busy going up and down the elevator alone. When I fell again and again, everything seemed so insignificant, like a person seeking their own path in the wilderness without anyone caring. I really like this feeling.
Great project! The core mechanic feels complete, the game loop is clear and intuitive, and the pixel art is brilliant. One thing I missed (on first run), the should show hint that we can stop elevator
It looks very cute, sounds beautiful and is quite interesting to play. It really suited me. Nice!!!
Very nice, the art style is amazing! Made it to II but got a bit frustrated. One of the jumps going up from the brakes is a bit annoying and machine moves a bit to slow (at least if you have to retry after falling a lot of times lol). Maybe you can make it a bit less frustrating by adding coyote jump or grabbing on edges if you miss the jump by just a bit. I can really see this become an awesome game beyond the game jam scope. It was fun to figure out how it works, and once it clicked it felt really good! Art, good. Vibe and atmosphere, good. Gameplay, good. The only negative thing I have to say about it is the banging sound of the elevator can be a little overwhelming... I also loved the feeling of thinking I was doing well and safe, but then seeing the fog rise up from under me and being like "Oh, F- the fog is coming!" What can I say, except... great job on a great game! Thank you for the experience!
@nojoule Thank you for the kind words! After watching other people play I've noticed that the jump you mentioned is an annoying spot, so that's definitely on me. Interestingly, your comment reminded me that I initially planned to implement ledge grabbing, but it somehow slipped my mind. Good suggestion! (Coyote time is actually already in the game, but I guess it doesn't help a lot.)
The art style of this game is stunning! and I love the desolate, isolated vibe of the whole thing! Also way more challenging than I was expecting! Very cool entry!
really nice work — good job!
Great atmosphere, the game is addictive, thank you!
Great artstyle. cool idea. it reminds me of "FAR: Changing Tides" and "FAR: Lone Sails". Personally, I don't particularly like the border that comes from below when you're “too slow”, that's all
Cool game! Very simple idea at its core, easy to understand. The tutorial is also simple and doesn't need a whole world to explain what to do. I agree that jumping is a little tough in this game. I also think it should be more forgiving when you skip a floor right now, if you skip it, there's a great chance you'll just lose, because you need to wait until the gas runs out, and only then you descend to the floor with the gas tanks. But if you manage to return and take the gas tank, you're already near death from the void.
It might break the idea, but I think it would be better if you automatically stop when a floor is reached in that case, the brake button wouldn't really be needed. Yes, it would make the game way more simple. An alternative is to give some kind of jetpack from the start, to allow the player to collect gas tanks and return, even if the ship is too far.
Anyway, very good entry! Overall, it's great, and it just needs a few small changes to be even better.
Cool game! Love the cool pixel and the engine sound. Really take some time practicing movement and optimize the workflow before manage to beat it. Struggle at some fuel points before realizing there is a super coyute time. Really immersive gameplay, having so much fun. Great job!
I dig the setting and concept. Something about an ascent to unknown scratches my brain just right. The core loop is engaging and easy to understand, very addictive and allows for strategic approach. Visuals and sounds are very stylistically cohesive, they create a charming yet alien atmosphere. I especially like the sound elevator makes when it picks up speed, so satisfying! Really enjoyed this one, one of my favorite submissions so far!
This is a very pretty and atmospheric game! I would love to see more of the areas the lift is passing through, but restarting from the beginning, combined with no arrow key controls made this a bit frustrating after a couple of tries. Racing the purple fog to the lift, and the moments where the lift is *slowly* gaining speed as the fog recedes was a very nice gameplay moment for me. I might return to this, but I would really like checkpoints or something: I like a challenge, but the first seconds/minutes of the ascenscion are just repetitive.
That was INCREDIBLE. The graphics were amazing and the audio was atmospheric. The concept was super solid. I wish I had more time to get good at it.
If I had to nitpick: Getting out of the brake area is a little finicky. The timing for the jump to get on top of that ledge is kinda tight.
