Ohh damn this game gives SO MUCH Papers Please vibes while combining it with older technology! Absolutely love the creativity :)
Awesome graphics and gameplay feels really smooth!
I haven't played Papers, Please, so I found it a bit difficult to figure out what I was supposed to do in your game. But I really liked the Soviet vibe! The art and music are great too!
Good to know @ronalchue can you be a bit more specific where you struggled to proceed during the game? It would give us a hint what we need to indicate better - Thank you!
@eklsn Thank you thats exactly what we've tried to achieve!
@arfenalis Thank you happy to read!
Solid jam experience! Simple, intuitive, and very well put together. Left full ratings across all categories! We’d really appreciate it if you could test out our game too when you have a minute! Keep up the great work!
I really like the art style and the original idea, well done!
I like the game, especially art! Sound and music are also cool! It was quite hard to figure out how to do the tasks :,) I couldn't understand what to do with paper with circles
@mineiwik Thank you, happy you've enjoyed it!
@mika-l Can I ask you what gave you trouble exactly? Was the instruction book not helpful or readable? Thank you in advance for the feedback!! It helps us greatly for future games!
The game is true OldTech but might be a bit too hard for me.
Awesome, your game is magnificent! I had a blast playing it, really cool stuff
The combination of decryption and filing tasks creates a really engaging sense of flow. It's cool how the game centers entirely on mastering the bureaucracy and following the manual to climb the ranks.
Great graphics and audio, very old tech vibes. The book page flipping can be clearer, took me a few minutes to figure out that you can flip individual pages apart from just jumping to the chapters, and before that I was confused how I should convert the 3 letters to punchcard holes.
Love the art! The timer goes so fast though! I feel like my guy would have gotten fired lol
@ao-85 Hey thank you comrade! Happy you enjoyed it that much 🫶
@eugenik so happy to read! That’s exactly what we aimed for! Your main goal is to use this manual to understand your tasks and get quicker and better with each round, just like in a real corporate setting! Cheers!
@katastudios the rounds are short and crisp 4 minutes long. If you finish all 5 days you actually get a letter with your performance and the message if you’re allowed to stay ☺️. Don’t get discouraged the game is build to get faster and quicker from round to round
@ralex-x thank you for that feedback! We’ll try to indicate such things better for the next game jam! I can only agree now in retrospective that we should have highlighted them somehow! Ty for playing ❤️
@vlaadiimiir yeah we really tried to dive deep into old tech setting! Don’t worry, and don’t get discouraged the game is build around the fact that you have to learn your job from round to round ☺️ if you tell me where you got stuck I’d be happy to assist ❤️
That really nice looking game! I like mechanics, but here is too much text! Whole vibe of Papers Please is wild!
It’s cool, but it’s not very convenient to count circles on pieces of paper(punch cards?🤔).
The style, music and impact of the shots are very pleasant! I liked it👍!
@hnkxobka thanks for the feedback, but what exactly do you mean with counting the circles. maybe we can use your feedback to clarify stuff within the guide book.
OMG as a big fan of _Papers, Please_ I love it!!! I kept thinking of it while making my own game, although I deliberately tried (very hard) not to make the influence too obvious. Anyway this game is definitely a great innovation! Though I do wish there were some more intuitive tutorials.
The graphics and the vibe of the game are great! I did not understand what to do though. Do I have to write the letters from the morse code somewhere? Maybe I'm just to tired. But can you give me a hint how to get started?
@mamboman Thanks for the feedback, and sure, we're gonna give you a small hint to get started!
Each transmission consists of 4 steps, and you need to use the guidebook to help you through them.
Step 1: Identify the first 3 letters of the transmission (these will always be unencrypted). Note them down somewhere. You can use the guidebook to help you figure out which dots and dashes represent which letter. ... = S, for example.
Step 2: Create the encryption punchcard. Here you need to follow the rules stated in the guidebook. The first 3 columns represent the first 3 letters, and the last column represents the current date. Depending on the letter, you need to punch out a different row. Once you've done this, you can put the punchcard into the Morse machine and should get the actual text of the message.
Step 3: Create the instruction punchcard depending on the message content. Which destination, which type, etc. All the rules are stated in the guidebook as well. Then you insert the punchcard into the dispatch machine.
Step 4: Lastly, you need to call the right department using the rotary phone.
And then rinse and repeat!
Ik it's quite a lot, and sadly we didn't really think of creating a tutorial for each step. Maybe we'll provide more examples in the guidebook.
Thank you, know I've got it :D I only used the bookmarks in the notebook. I did not understand, that each bookmarked chapter has more than one page. I think that was part of why I did not understand what to do
Hahaha, what a lovely game! 😄
While reading all of the instructions I was thinking to myself: "Damn, that is so complicated, it would be impossible to complete even one transmission". But by the day 5 I memorized a lot of letters, destinations, mail types etc. and was doing it almost automatically 😄
Love the atmosphere of this game, the feel of all the instrument you are given as the Communication clerk, and the detail of the "naughty" poster laughing every time you move your mouse over it is absolutely amazing! 😄 Great job on the entry!
@annie-owl It warms my heart to read such a nice comment you wouldn't believe. I felt exactly the same while playing "How tf am I supposed to learn all of this??", but that was the fun about it, you simply can see yourself get better and better each round and suddenly you just brush trough the punchcards like you've known them forever.
We really tried to make the player feel like they've been thrown into their job with just a manual and the goal to keep their job, which happens in real life to often haha.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you this really made my day!
Cool game! Gives me Papers Please vibes!
