I really enjoyed this game, but unfortunately it crashed every time when I got to the second level. hope it gets fixed soon (not sure if it’s an issue on my end, tho)
From every perspective I can think of, this game is pretty much perfect. It somehow reminds me of Fez. and I'm super curious abt how you design these levels as well :)
I actually also thought abt using the Jacquard loom when I was brainstorming, but couldn’t figure out how to turn it into something genuinely fun to play. Combining it with a rhythm game was such a creative idea, and it works really well! The art and music are also excellent. I did find the gameplay a little repetitive towards the end. overall, it’s a really refreshing and original take on the concept!
OMG as a big fan of _Papers, Please_ I love it!!! I kept thinking of it while making my own game, although I deliberately tried (very hard) not to make the influence too obvious. Anyway this game is definitely a great innovation! Though I do wish there were some more intuitive tutorials.
somehow this reminds me more of Ozon’s L’Étranger (movie adaptation) than Camus’. I really enjoyed some of the little easter eggs, and how the TV’s unsettling static unexpectedly echoes the feeling of oppressive, blinding sun. That said, I’m curious abt the thinking behind the narrative changes compared to the original. I think it could be even more interesting if the game found a way to bring Camus’ original existential angst into conversation with a more distinctly modern form of anxiety, as suggested by the presence of the television.
Adapting literary classics into games is always tricky (it reminds me of Playing Kafka), but I think this is overall a really worthwhile attempt & cool game!
I haven’t played this type of game like this in ages since Pac-Man. Adding a jump mech is such a fun twist (though I don’t understand why the ghosts have to learn to jump too haha).
I was wondering if it might help to have a little tip somewhere to indicate your overall progress through the level? I did get a tiny bit impatient towards the end, but that was mostly because I’m terrible at the controls lol. overall a really great game!
spent 15 mins enjoying easy mode, and I like the unique art style! It did get a little repetitive towards the end, though. I guess it's just hard to avoid with incremental games, but maybe adding more random events could make things more interesting :) overall really cool
Definitely the best audio I’ve heard in any of the games I’ve played over the past three days! though it took me a little while to figure out the gameplay
Tried the web version and spent a while clicking on those icons in vain haha. I do feel like there could be a little more to do in the game, but overall I love it! It’s so cozy and wholesome, and the descriptions of the landmarks outside the window were such a lovely surprise. I’d love to take a train from kx to Edinburgh myself someday :)) btw I’ve been following your team for a while and really love your work!
checked out your game after seeing your comment on mine! Funny enough, I also considered making a programming game about the Jacquard loom at first (but focus more on the programming part), but I just couldn’t figure out how the art would be look like haha. nice game and really love the visual style you went with!
I really love some little random notes hidden in some of the books in the library! The idea of uncovering the truth by reading books that may or may not be relevant is really interesting. I spent quite a while clicking around with my mouse before I figured out how to interact with things (only realised this after reading the comments haha.) A small popup hint could be helpful here :) overall it’s a really nice game. Keep up the great work!
You really can tell how much effort the team put into every little movement of the characters and objects. Even where things aren’t quite perfect, I can feel the "human". It took me a little while to realise I was looking at the inside of a film camera (even as a film cam lover!), but the moment everything clicked felt WONDERFUL. The game is a bit challenging, but that makes it all the more satisfying, and the difficulty curve is really well balanced as well. This is definitely one of my fav games I’ve played today!
Of all the programming games I’ve played today, this is by far the best one. and it’s not just the game design itself, every other aspect feels really well polished as well 👍
An interesting interactive fiction! really like the art style. If I had to point out one thing, the mouse-dragging controls for the dials feel a little clunky. but overall a nice game!
A surprisingly interesting and approachable game that’s really easy to get into a flow state! The art, music, and gameplay work together beautifully, and the controls feel smooth. I really love all the ridiculous items. what feels better than using a camera to stun everyone just one metre before the finish line and snatch the victory? XD
idk why but I couldn’t stop laughing while playing this. love how weird this design is! it’d be nice if zooming in and out were controlled by the mouse wheel instead of keys, so you could zoom in and explore things more freely :)
I wasn’t able to finish the game because I got a bit lost and couldn’t figure out how to return to the main screen after clicking on a letter. But I surely like the shader style in the game :)
I was a little confused about what I was supposed to do at first, but I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere! The art and music work nicely together :)
Found a bug: pressing the spacebar while playing in fullscreen causes the game to crash. overall nice game! If you have some spare time, feel free to drop by our page and try out our entry as well. Would love to hear your feedback!
absolutely loved it from the moment I started playing and ended up getting hooked for ages! My only suggestions are that upgrades become a bit too frequent in the later levels, which disrupts the pacing (sometimes triggering every step or two), and that some of the Chinese text descriptions could use a little polishing. that said, this is genuinely a great game!
