Not bad! The mechanics really remind me of Barotrauma.

The atmosphere and voice acting are top notch! Great sound design!

Unfortunately, it's a bit too tedious to play for me. I think you should let the player drive the ship in the dark, but punish them with a jumpscare if they do so for too long. Then I can try to race to the end rather than being "punished" with a tedious walk back to the coals. I would also do away with the timing game on the coals, and have a 1-2 shovels do the trick, or halve the amount of walking back to the coal area. It's fine to have to walk a long way to do the scan at the end of each level, but going back and forth between the ship controls and the coals over and over again just feels rough.

I don't mean to be overly critical, I actually really like the bones of what you've built, just like to give honest feedback. Keep up the good work!

It was great experience! Completed and couldn't stop. Easy to understand, atmosphere worked and game mechanics were simple but totally enough for a jam game. Thank you!

Definitely the best audio I’ve heard in any of the games I’ve played over the past three days! though it took me a little while to figure out the gameplay

Nice work, everybody. Mood is definitely on point, when I was in the piloting mini game I kept looking over my (or at least the character's) shoulder. Things in-game felt uncertain and rushed for me the character and the level feeling a bit unpredictable at a certain point was a nice touch - excellent job building tension.

I played in the web player, which had some audio glitchiness throughout. Definitely not going to hold that against the great audio work here, but might be worth encouraging people "for best audio, play in a downloadable build" or something. Would hate for things outside of your control have a negative impact.

I didn't finish the game. I reached sector 4 but there's so much busywork going on just to fly for 10 seconds, so when I hit yet another dead end I didn't feel like completing it :(

Audio is great, very ominous and I liked the build-up of weird creepy noises. Didn't encounter any jumpscares yet but I assume that would've happened at the 5th zone. I was waiting for something to happen, but at the same time I was playing it safe by going back to the furnace early enough before it went out completely. I'm not sure if that makes any difference though :D

Overall a very nice game! But unfortunately the gameplay didn't hook me as much as the excellent mood and sounds did.

I played the web version in firefox and had no audio issues, for what it's worth.

@atmospherium Thanks for letting us know about audio glitching on the web build. Could be browser-related.

Awesome atmosphere and audio design!

5/5 Graphics and Audio. Love the pixel art, the voice overs all quality. I didn't mind the slow walk at first but you should consider unlocking a run option after doing the first scan or getting the first audio track. The sub mini game reminds me of my favorite entry in LD59, if you could only see via sonar ping that would be even more scary.

BUT WHAT IF I TOOK THE OTHER PATH!!!

:) Very cool game! Really amazing atmosphere, excellent sound design, really nice spooky level design effects. And great writing! This was quite a compelling playthrough!

I've played for around 10 minutes but I didn't feel like I progressed through the game.

I like how the game looks and sounds, but the gameplay felt tedious.

The mood, visuals and sound and voice acting are amazing!!!! Great work!

The game is very tedious because of how slow you are and how far back you have to walk to put the coal in. It was also unclear if doing the coal multiple times helped or not or if you just had to hit it once. It also felt like you didn't really get much light and progress for the coal you put in.

Overall great aesthetic but i wanted more from the gameplay.

I have the same comments as others; it's incredibly atmospheric and a great base for a horror game (that first simple jump scare got me), but the loop of scan, steer, and shovel got a bit samey and I didn't feel like I was making progress. I ended up stopping after the 3rd or 4th scan. Graphics, sound, and mood are top-notch though. Maybe I'd have made it more of an exploration game, extended the submarine(?) you're in and maybe make it feel more like the movie Alien (trying to avoid some entity while fixing the submarine instead of scanning and steerign) because I was getting that sort of vibe walking in the dark with those pipes above me.

I liked the graphical effects, the sound effects the most, I think. The voice acting was nice too. Input wise - the controls worked smoothly. I did however find the early part of the game a bit too much busy-work with the long trek from the navigation to the furnace and back. Especially with how short time you got to fly each time. That in combination with the many false ends in the flying didn't really work so well for me. I don't want to spoil things here, but I appreciated the later parts more (even though the flying still felt a bit off). I would have liked some clear indication on the furnace if adding more coal helped my flying time, after having played it to the end, I'm guessing I wasted a fair bit of time there, but as a furnace should burn longer the more you put in, if that was the case the game could really have been helped by telling me so.

!> When first I was flying I really tried to stay away from the edges, assuming there was a real stake, but towards the end it felt like there was no real stake (might have been, but didn't feel like).

Overall a very well made entry though. And as I said some of the visual and sound effects were really great!
