You forgot to add a link to the game 😭
@tom3y The two of us are participating in this jam) We’ll try to post it in the next few hours! I apologize if we did something wrong...we will try to do it, but if we are already late...we will just indicate the link for those who will be interested) Thank you very much for your comment:)
Cover art looks cool! Can you at me when the game is uploaded so I can play? :)
ZIP in post up)
VOID_2009yasha2009ludum57fix.zip - minimal fix, update on 5 minute(original in good time - in head)
@twest - Thank you so much for your interest and such a kind review :) We're really happy! As for the game – we're not sure the current build will impress you, but we'd be glad if even a small part of the beginning brings you some enjoyment :) Most importantly, please don't forget to rest after the jam :)
UPD> added youtube-video
@2009yasha2009 Okey i watch video) a little cheating)
audio doesn't seem to work for me? I can't figure out what to do?
@maybeagoose You're amazing :) Considering that the game only has a couple of minutes of content... I think you chose the best possible format :) Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback – it means a lot to us!
@katastudios Sorry, we didn’t manage to add voice acting and sounds to the jam version of the game... but we’ll definitely include them in the future! Thank you so much for playing our game – we truly, truly appreciate it!
Audio and art are great in this one!
The game looks very nice. I did not really understand what to do, especially an the beginning. Once I looked at the inputs in the video, I got the ship started and encountered the shark. I was even able to escpe it :) However, the second dot did not give me an encounter and I was not able to use the lever to surface. Nonetheless, I really like the concept. With a bit more time, it could be a really fun and tense game. Nice work!
Beautiful and atmospheric – plus you watch my videos? This game’s definitely getting a high rating! But why no HTML5 version? It’s so inconvenient without it. :(
@the-stewarts - Thank you so much for the feedback! At the moment, the music is only in the video, since for the game itself we’re planning to commission a composer – we’d prefer not to rely on AI or external solutions. But for the YouTube video, yes, we decided to add music that, we hope, helped create the right atmosphere :) We're truly happy and grateful that we made a good impression! We'll keep doing our best :)
@stmatn - Oh wow, it’s such a joy that you not only watched the video but also played the game >< We’re so happy (especially that you managed to escape the shark :)) The second station gives you extra oxygen! But yes, due to the lack of a tutorial, it’s not very obvious at the moment... please accept our apologies for that. And a huge, humble thank-you for your warm and kind words! We’d love to continue developing the game after the jam — who knows, maybe we’ll meet again on the staircase of letters. Either way, we’ll be very happy to see you again! Once more, thank you so much :) (dancing with ssomniss with a smile :))
@indiealesha - Oh, I’m that goof who still hasn’t received the graphics from the freelancers for the capybara game :) And now... a second jam has already flown by... sorry >< And yes, I’m too shy to send direct messages) But honestly? I’m happy that you’re also taking part in jams :) You’re doing great!!! Thank you for your humor and your smile :) And a special thanks for your kind words! Oh, and yes — there are some difficulties with scaling in HTML5 (I overcomplicated things in the code), but it will definitely be there!
@2009yasha2009 you do not need to appologise. Game jams always come with a lot of time pressure and that forces us to abandon features and cut the scope. It is still nice to see, what you have accomplished :)
Great game! It took me a bit to figure out how to codes work, I didn't realize I could abandon a code part way through to not take damage lol. Eventually I figured it out. I would have loved to find the jump scare myself in game instead of seeing it in a screenshot on the jam page. Maybe consider changing the thumbnail of those videos so it doesn't spoil future players :) It's a great moment!
The pacing at the end was just right, I was just able to get the code entered in time! Well done!
This game is mostly missing sound effects and a clearer tutorial (And a proper ending). The UI elements are transparent and the good ones are blue over blue, so it takes a little bit of time to figure out how everything works. I manged to understand the concept by myself though (I didn't rely on the video), and managed to escape the shark on my second run! I like the Janky controls, and the fact that you can actually feel the submarine move. Also, having a localized version of the game is a very nice touch I think, it's a little bit of work to do but I think it definitely add value.
@stmatn – Thank you so much for your understanding! Yes, that's the beauty of game jams — you can try out so many things in a short time and actually see the results :) And when that result resonates through comments and words of support — it brings a special kind of gratitude and joy!
@cameronpenner - Oh, we’re so happy that you managed to finish the game! Especially without any hints — you’re amazing! We removed the shark cutscene, and we’re really glad that the game still left a positive impression. And thank you so much for sharing that with us :) We’re truly, truly happy!
@tomtomgome - Huge thanks for the constructive feedback! Yes, the game is definitely lacking a tutorial right now — that’s true… but we’ll definitely be adding one! We're glad the controls were mostly intuitive in the meantime. And yes, you did a great job! We’re extremely happy and grateful to you! About localization — we thought players might enjoy reading text in their own language~ So far we’ve only managed to add two languages, sorry for that, but we truly appreciate our players and hope to add more localizations in the future for everyone’s comfort! Once again, thank you so much!
Unfortunately, I didn't understand completely how to play... maybe a tutorial could be provided
@adhvik - Thank you very much for your feedback and what, have you tried playing the game! We didn't have time to add training in the JAM version, we will definitely add it in the future, however, there is already a video in the description that helps to understand both the concept and the walkthrough of this version. We will be glad if we can please you again:) Good day!
thanks for the Russian language, very nice graphics, I didn't immediately understand what to do at all, I didn't figure it out, it's a pity there are no sounds, I really liked the attack and cool controls, although a little unclear at first
The graphics and atmosphere is great but it took 3 or 4 attempts to figure out _what_ to actually do. Overall looks quite promising for a point and click adventure
I like the look a lot. With the right audio the atmosphere will be great! It took me a while to figure out what to do though =)
I have a special place in my heart for point and click game, in fact that was our first idea for this jam before we did our thing. Well done
@zowell – Thank you so much for playing our game and for the kind words! Localization — yes, we realized how important it is, as it affects both the experience and the gameplay itself. Thank you again! We'll do our best to add a tutorial soon :)
@wisch – We’re truly grateful for your kind words about the graphics and gameplay :) We’ll do our best not to disappoint in the future and to release a continuation! Thank you so much for the review and for playing!
@mamboman – Thank you so much for your feedback and for playing :) Yes, sound is definitely a key element — and we’ll make sure to add it! We’ll do our best to maintain that slightly creepy adventure atmosphere :)
@hdvr02 – We’re absolutely thrilled that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
@athospap – We hope you’ll be able to bring your idea to life in this genre too! My wife (ssomniss) and I love it dearly, and this jam was our chance to give it a try. Thank you so much, and best of luck to you as well :)
Very cool graphics, I really like this style and atmosphere! Interesting idea of controlling the ship, very unusual. By the way, I am very familiar with your nickname, it seems once we spent time on the same forum Hellroom) And a tip for the future: make html5 version of the game, few people want to download the game, the games in the browser play much more willingly. Good luck and great success to you!
@johneyd - Hello :) Thank you so much for the feedback — it means a lot to see that the atmosphere and style resonated with you :) As for the ship controls — I think they’ll be expanded in the future, but we’ll see how it goes :) Regarding the HTML5 version — you’re absolutely right, we only just got around to compiling it... Finally on vacation from work :) So it’s now available in the header as well! And about hellroom — wow! That’s right, I really miss the old forum jams from AWG and Vendet :) But I’m so sorry, I can’t recognize you by your nickname... forgive me >.< Still, it’s incredibly heartwarming to see fellow hellroom folks (you!) here too :) Good luck you in gamedev and funny day's!
