Phaha, nothing like being killed by a chicken. Great fun :)
Very fun, like the sound design. A negative point: when you read the lore, you can be killed in background
It was fun, hahaha, I still played it several times even though I lost quickly each time
I think you forgor to disable texture filter, which makes pixel art blurry
Fun little game, well done!
Way too hard, but I think it's a really interesting concept. Would love to see a full game based on that !
Small bug : the A key doesn't work (because of azerty I guess ?)
Fun tiny game, good.
Nice work! Fun and challenging. I found I can just keep pressing ABXY altogether without pressing the button the game want me to press, which lowers the difficulty a bit. Probably add some little penalty when the wrong summon button was pressed?
Interesting concept. I like the mechanic of positioning the summons. Tricky at first.
Cool, would be nice to see some better keyboard controls also i love the text in game lore wise its very well written, but maybe it could tell you a bit more about the game mechanics?
Like the atmosphere and the writing, but the keyboard controls confused the hell out of me and the only one getting sacrificed was me. Cool concept though
Nice game, I love the music, it would be scarier if the background has a dark color i think.
Nice graphics but the keyboard controls are a bit confusing, also I died while reading the intro text for the first time :joy: Liked the idea, I think it has potential
I kept being killed while reading the instructions, which was unfortunate. The buttons you press to kill the animals or summon a monster didn't always work for me, but the game ok overall. I liked it.
Interesting concept, I like the idea quite a bit. If you added some more depth to the summoning process it would be really cool, like sacrificing multiple animals at once for stronger summons, with different combinations resulting in different summons. And as someone mentioned, there is no punishment for pressing the wrong button, so you can just mash them all the time. Overall pretty good, especially for doing it solo!
Died many times trying to read the instructions. Keyboard controls are not great. I could move and advance the instructions with my controller in the web build, but the summon buttons did not work.
I like the positional mechanics of where in the circle you summon demons. I Managed to win after a few tries, it could do with an easier start to let you figure out the summon mechanics before swamping you with enemies.
Sorry for those who get killed during reading the lore. Enemies move randomly (I should have set them paused, I agree), but those already on the map are far from the player and I hoped they do not get agro. It is bad luck but I will definitely fix that.
Sorry for the keyboard mapping. I planned it to be played with gamepad but only get that it is not well supported in webview at the end. So even num keys (or xybc) are not the best, but it does not match the displayed button around the summoning circle. It is my first Jam but now I know, I'm aware how the web version is better to test so much games and so mouse/keyboard.
I planned to build a full summoning graph but had no time to make it really deep. For now: sheep → demon, demon+mushroom→goblin, and a few more only. I assume the game must start slower to let player find and play with this. I'd like to add some complexity on buttons (press sequences to summon, etc.) and bad things to happened on mistake. But I ran out of time. You all are totally right.
@someone Serendipity is good. I first coded demon postion as temporary, looking for complex demon behavior (pathfinding and so on). But after tests, I thought it was fun just like that. I'm happy you unlocked the final poem :) You're the best!
Thank you all. I think I will continue to improve it and post it on itch io soon.
Is it really possible to last more than 1 minute? The knights are killing me quickly.
build a house out of sacrificed chickens and sheep. with my new demon walls i feel safe... for now. (random human)" AAAAAAAAAAAA"
Survived 55 secs, worth it. Fun tiny game, and great use of the concept!
Great idea, definitely a fresh take on the jam theme! Loved being a spider using his webs to destroy enemies. Nice minimalistic graphics and unobtrusive melody, great choice. Not quite comfortable with the keyboard system, tried unsuccessfully to press A in the process until I reread the instructions. The letters move nicely around the perimeter, but during combat and surrounded by enemies - uncomfortable :(
I love your entry ! It's a nice take on the theme and the idea is fun. The sound design is well done and make for a good mood. I struggled a bit with the control at first but i think it work well.
The game was cool, although it took me some time to warm up to it. I got killed as I was reading the tutorial, which gave me a good laugh, but also left a bad first impression. However, when I actually got to play the game, I had a lot of fun. It's a nice take on Vampire Survivors formula and I think they could take your game as an inspiration for one of the new characters in the inevitable upcoming dlcs. I also found enemy screams a lot of funny as well, I really wish you didn't opt out of humor, I'd give it high grade!
What a unique and enjoyable twist on gameplay! I had a blast figuring out the summoning mechanics, and the humor definitely added to the experience. Keep up the creative work!
I enjoyed it. Having to press different buttons to sacrifice critters was a good idea (had to switch to pad after being confused for a bit). Would have been cool if you could have helped your demons fight the knights with button prompts too.
Really nice adaptation of the Vampire Survirors formula. It fits really well with the theme. Hard to play with the keyboard tho. At the end I was just spamming all the my num keys lol
The fast bearded man ends all of my runs. The best run I had was when I realized you could just walk off the map and run almost forever :D
Pretty cool concept and variation on the survivors-like genre
I like it
I can never get tired of playing survivor-like games, and yours is exceptionally well-made and mature. I'm so addicted to your game that I almost missed the call from my girlfriend to take a shower, LOL!

If you have the time and energy, would you mind taking a look at my friends' games (not mine)? They've helped me a lot in the past, and I'd like to return the favor. Here's the link:[https://ldj.am/$393695](https://ldj.am/$393695)
@drgcandle I am incredibly flattered. I'll test your friends' game right now. I hope your girlfriend won't be mad at me. Thank you very much for this complimentary comment.
@misoukun I bet she won't be mad at you because she's currently playing your game and is a bit clumsy at it. I think as long as I don't chuckle behind her back, nothing will go wrong:D
Wow that's an interesting concept. Good job!
GG, quite an interesting idea and satisfying to play! A bit confusing to play on a keyboard, though.
Ahahah this is fun. Nice minimalist concept and game. I love the chill music. Cheers.
A small and fun game. A bit unsure about the controls, but I really enjoyed it.
Sounds effects are considerably louder than the music. It's an interesting game, though not sure about those controls.
Really good game)
Nice one! I liked it!
the art may be a little blurry, you should really make it nearest filter instead of biliniear or triliniear, the game is a cool idea, but may be a bit repetitive, i cant talk tho, my game is super repetitive, anyways cool game!
I am just here to say that I already play and review the game. I am just going to try it again.
It's an interesting concept, good job!
My guys also struggle with the theme it was hard to twist and make it something original, still I think you done very well, cheers!.
Fun game, although I suck playing with a controller, so it was a little bit of a struggle. Still great concept!
Good work for your 2nd jam!
Thanks everybody for playing/testing and all your feedbacks. You're all so right. Then I fixed some things and improved others. - Images are pixel-prefect. - Added a workaround for gamepad. - Show keyboard keys instead of pad buttons depending used device. - Added an epic music for the boss-fight. - Improved enemy spawn.
Gamepad is not supported on Chrome but Ok with Firefox. Anyway, there is a bug with pad button mapping in Unity for WebGL and the new Input System. Then I developed a workaround and it works fine now.
To not mess up with the Ludum, I did not updated this page but published the updated version the ItchIo only → [Summoning Survival v1.1](https://misoukun.itch.io/summoning-survival)
Cool take on the theme! The game is quite hard tho (or maybe it's my skill issue XD)
