I really like this game! I found it to be really fun! I got a little addicted. My only thought while playing is that it would had been cool to progressively change the environment as I golfed further and further underground?? That could add a sense of progression. The music is simple but a bop btw
Really nice little game !
Was expecting something from the little thing in the whole, like a shortcut, but alas, it wasn't.
Stopped at Hole 11, as it seems the game hadn't anything new to give me.
Was fun nonetheless, and I enjoyed playing it.
Please, continue to make game !
fun little game! nice twist on a the golf mechanics
@baknik
> Somehow I managed to lodge the ball outside of the play area
Yeah.. I don't understand why godot physics is acting like this  I made the collision areas larger, turned on continuous detection, upped the physics rate, and added larger bordering areas but somehow the ball can still slip through the tiles :anger:
I've loved games with similar mechanics since childhood, the level of nostalgia is maximum
made it all the way through :sunglasses: nice submission! my biggest achievement: an albatross on hole 9. music was indeed a bop. sometimes the ball just stops entirely when landing despite having enough momentum to continue - but other than that, great job!
Really fun game and the stroke mechanic feels really polished and clean which makes for a nice gameplay experience. Graphics are really nice so overall really felt like a well-made game! :)
Nice to play! And music is truly the icing on the cake)
A fun little minigolf game. I would have liked to see a bit more of the level, because right now it's actorly hard to know if you shoot in right direction. But overall a fine little jam game. Well done.
Nice game. I liked the banger music the most. The gameplay felt okay as well although I feel I wasn't able to get a good shot with a lot of momentum.
EDIT: Went through the ground in hole 18.
Good work.
> ball just stops entirely when landing despite having enough momentum to continue
@busisen, oops! I had a nice bounce and friction configured for the ball, but it seems like I accidentally turned it off :face_palm:
noice i got to 14 and it was fun
Nice twist to golf games haha. Very innovative.
Is feels smooth and fast, the thing I really appreciate.
Nice idea (golf where you have to collect coins as you go). I really feel like this would benefit from hand-crafted levels where you can set up each scenario with interesting obstacles and an appropriate par, whereas the procgen approach makes each level the same but longer. Still, I appreciate the procgen algorithm worked well enough that I always knew which direction to go in.
Nice game! I was able to finish with 428 coins after figuring out a strategy for hitting the ball:
The procedural generation is well done and generates interesting layouts that work with the physics.
For QoL, I wasn't able to find a way to cancel out of a stroke once I had started dragging. The zoom out is nice, but I found myself having to zoom in and out often. Having a dedicated minimap for the same purpose might work better.
> The zoom out is nice, but I found myself having to zoom in and out often. Having a dedicated minimap for the same purpose might work better.
@haykam, actually zoom wasn't meant to be part of the game. I forgot I added it for debugging  Minimap would be cool though!
It's very addictive, love the gameplay!
it's very cool
Cool! I managed to do all 18 holes just about and it was pretty close at times, so quite tense! :) The procedural generation worked well, and made the decision to go for more coins or less strokes really interesting. The difficulty seemed spot on as I always was close to having the right amount of coins.
has really nice music :D and is really fun! but yeah i got outside of the map on the first hole sooo, that shouldn't happen i guess
Nice job! Thematically works for me, procedural generation seems to be doing its job, and the concept of literally paying for bogeys is something I haven't seen before.
Might be nice with the randomly generated levels to be able to see a bigger picture of the map or have some sort of roaming camera mode, but only so much you can do in 48 hours.
Hope to see more stuff from you down the road! Keep up the good work.
The gameplay is engaging, game itself feels responsive and satisfying!
cool gameplay!
This is a really fun idea and executed well! It took me until I got most of the way through to realize that I could use my scroll wheel and see the entire level which not only was helpful but looked super cool.
Thanks for playing Deep Bat Rage and leaving some feedback and congrats on finishing!
Yay golf, the idea of putting a price when you want to shoot is quite the fun idea, would have maybe liked a bit more bounciness of the physics but other than that great game!
Loved this! With a little more development I think this could be a game I'd keep coming back to. I wonder if giving the ball a little bit of bounce would make for more interesting gameplay.
Interesting game, but I didn't really see a benefit to the stroke mechanics. It seems like there's never a good opportunity to really smack the ball hard beyond just for fun. Even tee-off was always surrounded so that you could never get any distance. I'd almost prefer if you needed the ball to go in a given direction beyond just straight down, maybe have an arrow to show the player where they need to go. Additionally, I'd almost prefer a timer to the stroke mechanics, at least then I'm pressured to do things quickly, rather than just wait for the ball to stop moving to try to save money.
I love how this fits the theme, you're playing golf but the ball is already in the hole :)
Everything's procedurally generated, but it would be cool if there were more types of slopes and shapes, to give some extra variety to how you move the ball around the stage. Otherwise though, it's neat having to balance getting the most coins for the least amount of strokes.
Best strategy is to go for under pars, but collecting coins is way more satisfying
The concept is really cool - I think you could add a lot of stuff to push this further. I felt like I didn't have that much control over what was happening during the game. Maybe if there were some additional abilities that you could use or a way that you could spend money to improve your odds of succeeding? If you're going fast enough/gain enough momentum you can also get trapped in the ground - just as a heads up!
I had fun playing through - managed to get to hole 11 with over 100 coins before getting trapped. Probably would have kept trying to go to 18 otherwise!
> ...golf but the ball is already in the hole
@sudocoffee nice, that would make a great tagline for the game!
I also managed to get stuck in a wall, but great effort for a jam game, especially with level generation!
Very fun and satisfying game! The music got a bit annoying and I could stuck in a wall once but other then that I had a lot of fun.
Good entry! I liked the coin collecting and payment aspect of the game, that’s a neat idea to change up a typical golf game.
One thing I would’ve liked to see in this entry is a better indicator for the shot. I couldn’t really get a sense for how the ball was going to move, which made the game slightly random but still fun.
Fun little golfing game! I really liked the rounded corners that often helped you pick up speed. Maybe a minimap would have been useful though. But overall good entry!
The idea of golfing downwards is quite nice. I felt like the game was playing itself a little too much though and I wouldn't need to think a lot about the inputs to make it to the holes. Maybe some additional level mechanics could make this more engaging.
Really fun game! The main thing that I would say would be a good addition would be a "zoom out" button/keybind to show a bit more of your surroundings, not necessarily the whole level, but maybe somewhere between 2.5-4x in each direction
We had a similar game idea lol! :joy:
And just like my game, I think yours lacks a variety of mechanics to make the levels more interesting. Things like more obstacles, bouncy blocks, etc. But cool game!
Nice idea but the looping music gets a bit much! love that it is procedural though and the feel is lovely.
gud, neat ball's controller mechanic.
