LD55 — Summoning

Eldritch Vessel Academy by tomrijnbeek 2024-04-18T18:04:26Z

This is certainly one of the best games I've played during the jam! The puzzles were clever, adding the timer made for puzzle-solving to be a bit more hectic. I got stuck for a moment on (I believe it was) the penultimate level before figuring out what I was overlooking. The amount of polish was staggering!

Court Date by sillyman987 2024-04-17T23:46:59Z

The controls are really finnicky, I managed to make it to what appeared to be the last level, but I lost. I'd punch with one button, turn, and with the fist still extended, expected the same button to throw the same arm that was already extended, but it would not, it was the other. It seemed like you always wanted "left" and "right" to be based on the player's perspective, but that just made it confusing to me. Beyond that, the combat was pretty interesting, as you needed to constantly reposition.

Let's Boogie by Taximan981 2024-04-21T03:19:45Z

I didn't really care for how slippery the controls were, by the final boss, I was pretty much holding shift all the time so I could actually do platforming. Beyond that though, the game itself was a lot of fun, I enjoyed the puzzle that was the boss at the end.

Alvo Canto by LoicLeGrosFrere 2024-04-19T19:16:26Z

It was a clever little time, I had a little trouble at first as I expected every needed monster to have a special formula like the one in the book, but once I worried less about "finding the right combination" it was a good time! I think I'd like it more if there was more "busywork" in between tasks, like learning more uses for the ingredients beyond experimenting with them during summoning. Still, I had a good time with it!

Parmigiano Rolliano by LiquidFunk 2024-04-24T15:09:19Z

This was a blast to play! I have to agree with a few people in the comments that the left side of the screen is a deathtrap that dangles goodies just outside of reach. Beyond that though, the game was hilarious! Movement felt good and I always felt like there was a way to avoid all the obstacles, getting hit was my fault. Very silly game, I love it!

Scrolls of Summoning: Paju's Adventure by toilari 2024-04-18T17:45:15Z

The game looks fantastic! The audio was a bit quiet for me, but it sounded good all the same. The only real issue I had was wanting to push through the game faster due to how slow combat resolved. I needed to wait a few rounds every time the opponent ran out of cards and instead I pushed past where I probably should've been and got into fights I had no business being in. I think I'd enjoy it more if there was a deck limit and a way of culling "bad" scrolls as well. Every combat ended when one player ran out of scrolls, so I feel like there could be room for improvement there as well.

Cat Summoning Puzzle by Kobato Games 2024-04-19T21:47:53Z

Nice game! Though I do agree with previous comments that the order of cat summonings needed to be shuffled, though I imagine you couldn't do much with only the 5 cats. One possible solution I could see would be to consider their moods on the other side as well, and make them unavailable to summon, based on who is and is not currently around (On the other side). That would certainly make it MORE like the old riddle, but I could see that trying to increase the scope in that manner could easily be a huge pain.

Djimm's Revenge by player04 2024-04-17T23:27:31Z

I saw audio controls, but I wasn't getting any audio. Beyond that, the game was fun! I was a little frustrated by bubbles spawning from popped bubbles, but it did seem to be a way to prevent the player from keeping them in check, though on my final attempt, I pretty much just kept chucking apples at Djimm, and he couldn't keep anything in play. Maybe there should an apple limit that refreshes over time? Only an idea.

Party Wizard by braktheman 2024-04-18T16:52:04Z

A very funny game! I only made it 25 items in, I wish I could've seen some more of the hilarious requests!

SmokeSouls by Nor1h_l1zard 2024-04-18T17:07:08Z

The game crashed on me on the first attempt, but after realizing that I could use wasd to move around, it worked on the second attempt. Am I correct in assuming that you need to surround the enemies in order to kill them? I was having issues with enemies being stuck in corners and not dying, but eventually I managed to sneak in a win! Giving players some additional information on this page for how to play the game would probably help a lot! I really enjoyed the tunes in this game as well.

Demon's Tower by Planetary 2024-04-17T22:49:41Z

I like the game, I'm a bit confused on how buying the cards work. It seems random as far as whether or not you get an upgrade for your $20. I also kinda wish there was more to do during each run. Definitely could be a chill thing to have going on the side. It took so long for things to ramp up, I just let the game run and ignored the cards.

Peso by Tuna545 2024-04-16T20:10:27Z

Honestly, I got kinda spooked when I found Peso. I'm pretty sure it was unintentional.

Summons by Talif Moor 2024-04-18T16:27:11Z

Thank you for the comments, everyone! The game is certainly not yet totally polished, I do intend to make some changes in the future, including tweaking the butler's movement, adding at least one more nuisance and audio, and either a scoring system or a timer.

Scummoner by boba 2024-04-19T21:35:56Z

I accidentally caught myself on fire and died. Then on my next attempt, I thought I had cleverly found a secret room by using a rock on a manhole cover, only to drown in the sewers. Was pretty fun!

LD57 — Depths

Explorem Ipsum: Catacombs of Time by NotExplosive 2025-04-10T22:53:17Z

A very fun jam game! I generally prefer puzzle rooms to be self-contained (So that you don't need to reset the entire dungeon when messing up), but I had a good time with it, regardless.

Depths of Darvaza 2 by ghost-in-the-toast 2025-04-09T18:43:33Z

Don't worry, I'll find the 4th key card eventually. I just need to stop finding ways of falling into the abyss.

Tidehold by outstar 2025-04-11T05:20:04Z

I really enjoyed this. The only issue I was having is that the radar was pointing me straight into the depths. I tried going around multiple ways, even removing buildings to try to get my 02 to reach further until I finally gave up. If I were to follow the radar directly, it seemed like it wanted me to hop past 2 tiles to reach the signal. Otherwise, it was very clever.

HexaDig by FancyReckless 2025-04-09T22:39:36Z

Great game! Definitely reminded me of He is Coming, but I like the need to continually move in a single direction. The missions were a nice touch as well.

Depth Dive by Beebo Studios 2025-04-10T03:53:21Z

I reached the end after about 4 deaths! Man, I hated those dinosaurs.

Sokobound by farzher 2025-04-09T21:20:12Z

Very difficult game, the graphics are very simple but clean, I can get behind that.

Spider Cave Offensive by Cardboard Box 2025-04-10T16:26:22Z

Really great game! I gave hard mode one attempt, and was thoroughly crushed. I may have to come back to it sometime. My only real complaint is how good bats are at dodging shots by stepping into the tile closer to me.

Depth.exe by Wargon 2025-04-09T17:29:59Z

The game is very attractive visually. I wasn't a fan of needing to press the X on the windows to close them, clicking on the icon again ought to be enough to close them. I had a pretty good time with the game until I felt that I wasn't really approaching a goal and it seemed that I was my upgrade progress was bottlenecked from the need of a ridiculous amount of data. Not to say I didn't enjoy my time with the game. I think it turned out very well! :)

Dyamid by leorean 2025-04-10T19:53:40Z

This is a fantastic game! I was quite enthralled with the mechanics, and the spritework was top-notch. I really enjoyed the ending. Well done!

D.E.E.P Impact by feor 2025-04-13T03:49:53Z

I enjoyed the game, though I didn't manage to complete it. I felt like the radar was mostly useless, I felt I did a better job just by spamming the timed miner until I got a good amount of visibility. My biggest complaint is that I would lose after getting pretty far by not being able to pinpoint where the dodgy enemy was (whatever it was called) and got an instant game-over from it emerging. Especially if it was one of the first enemies to spawn in a wave when I had very little vision.

Burrilka by echerry 2025-04-11T04:29:55Z

This was great! I love the idea of a game where you have to do a bunch of interrelated minigames on a time limit, and you certainly hit the sweet spot with this! Well done!

Miner TD by OldDog 2025-04-09T18:19:55Z

Very fun, simple game. The fact that orb absorb lets you win the game immediately once it's fully upgraded is very silly. I expected it to pull very slowly in order to refresh resources over time once you maxed your upgrades, but it was a surprise when it just started grabbing everything right at the start. Honestly, I would have loved to continue digging deeper, if the game hadn't prevented me from increasing the dig length further.

Infinite Depths at Hilberts Hotel by Fredrik Andersson 2025-04-09T22:04:37Z

Very interesting game! I felt like I might've cheated by hiding my improperly positioned folks way off into infinity.

Neuronic Netronics by kaliuresis 2025-04-10T00:59:37Z

Pretty funky puzzle game, I stopped on the 7th round. It could definitely use a bit more of a tutorial. I nearly gave up on the second puzzle just because I had no idea what I was doing.

pachaction: A pachinko rogulike by ashutosh_sharma 2025-04-10T19:30:34Z

Definitely getting some Cameltry vibes, but it feels more like a proof of concept than a game. I enjoyed it more just ignoring the controls, rather than interacting with it.

Hoard by Talif Moor 2025-04-09T21:32:24Z

@heiden-bzr I do agree that the controls are a bit painful, I would like to add the use of a controller to the game, as I think it will be a bit more painless, rotating was intended to be an obstacle to give the game a bit more of a manic feeling. I might also have spent too much time playing DROD. I had planned the theme to be a bit more of a "Dumpster Dive" but as the game took shape, it moved away from that theme to what you see here.

@oddmes Great Score! I do want to implement holding the button to move, which I think will definitely help everyone's arms. I hadn't really thought about shoving blocks to move other blocks, I may have to consider that for a later change. The biggest reason for not adding animations was that the timer is so strict anyways, taking the time for animation would slow the manic feel of the game. I may need to consider it, just to save folks some pain in the future.

Hoard by Talif Moor 2025-04-23T17:17:49Z

I have just updated the controls to now allow for controller use. Additionally, you may now hold down movement keys to move, no more killing your arms and wrists to play! Just use the 1.1 file. Thanks!

Net. Sweeper by Absolute Garbage 2025-04-10T01:32:26Z

I really enjoyed this! I like the fact that you kinda want to clear out the enemies, rather than just marking and avoiding. I don't know that I like the amount of bullets that you get, but maybe if I spent more time with endless mode, I'd find it to be a little more difficult, I was just a little strapped for time before I made my initial ratings.

TowerFlip by kalasherr 2025-04-10T22:26:21Z

I enjoyed this. I originally beat the game in 21 flips and eventually worked it down to 17. It doesn't feel like there's really any pressure to progress, which I don't really care for, but the basic structure of the game I really enjoyed. A little more fleshing out of the concept and I think it would be really interesting.

D.U.G.: Doug Under da Ground by mtnbonez 2025-04-09T22:58:25Z

I like the game, trying to maze your way around to the next zone is a lot of fun. I do feel like there's a little bit of wonkiness with the digging, but especially the movement, I kept getting stuck on walls when trying to move down, or jumping higher than I should because I was standing close to walls. I feel like there's quite a bit of potential here.

Shelter from the Blight by Yiraa 2025-04-13T04:32:20Z

Nice game! I'm not sure that there's much that I can add that wasn't already touched on by others. It really reminded me of a resource management game called "As Far As The Eye." I kinda wish that there were some ways to gain other resources that you lost access to in earlier depths, but obviously the 72 hours creates a pretty stiff limit to content.

DungeonDescent by thisyc 2025-04-09T20:16:25Z

Fun game! It definitely has the potential to break, though (mechanically, not meaning a crash). I first beat the game at level 0, then went ahead and played on level 5. By the end of the game, I was gaining 55 coins per tile and my base damage was nearly 100 (I could've went further, but I was avoiding collecting coins at the end of the game so I didn't have to choose so many upgrades). Enemies spawned so much, that I had fully leveled my skills within the first half of the game and never needed swords ever again. Skills were: world, lottery, collect coins, double coins. Activate lottery -> double coins -> world -> collect coins to collect the full board, followed by two full boards of doubled coins, followed by one final board of normal coins. I feel like enemies may not scale quickly enough, maximum coin values should be capped at a certain point, or perhaps the required coins for improvements should scale over the course of the game. Regardless, I had a good time, thanks for making this! Edit: Oh, additionally, I feel like diagonal connections are way too strong without being behind an upgrade, but that could just be me.

The Hole by dstoc 2025-04-09T20:41:41Z

Interesting game, but I didn't really see a benefit to the stroke mechanics. It seems like there's never a good opportunity to really smack the ball hard beyond just for fun. Even tee-off was always surrounded so that you could never get any distance. I'd almost prefer if you needed the ball to go in a given direction beyond just straight down, maybe have an arrow to show the player where they need to go. Additionally, I'd almost prefer a timer to the stroke mechanics, at least then I'm pressured to do things quickly, rather than just wait for the ball to stop moving to try to save money.

the depths of space by OttoBroccoli 2025-04-13T04:57:34Z

A pleasant, chill game. I feel like the earlier "simpler" connections were more difficult to lay out than the more "complex" connections with more points. I'm not really sure if greater depths were supposed to be more difficult or not, as the deepest puzzles felt like some of the easiest due to there being less points to select from.

D.M.C : Dwarves Mine Caves by lepol 2025-04-09T23:08:41Z

I really like this! The game controls a little funky and I think the jump could use a little TLC to make it feel more managable. I bought the wall run almost immediately, but never felt like I had a good opportunity to make use of it.

SIRTET by Airgameboys 2025-04-11T04:15:56Z

My best was 27. I'm not a very good Tetris player, though. The design is very clever! Well done!

Debts in the Depths by Reaktori 2025-04-09T19:08:01Z

Fantastic game! I managed to finish the playthrough on my first attempt, I really enjoyed seeing my minions improve as they stuck around and killed enemies. The dragon killed pretty much my entire party though, so I was living off scraps until I died at 24/20.
