5 for humor, love it.

Funny and innovative.

What I liked: - Humor a lot. - The setting and the controls.

What i disliked: - Lacking atmosphere bc of Sounds (punshing feedback), more click sounds on throwing a punch. Some kind of death Sound. - Bug, when you face down and left click, you throw a punch with right. - Enemy variance in mechanics.

Fun game, I played through the whole thing. The positioning of the head and fists combined with the trajectory of the enemies naturally disincentivizes camping.

Punches would feel more satisfying with some kind of sound effect. Level progression would feel more satisfying with new backgrounds.

The theme is nice and unhinged. Fun to beat up the popos Music is nice and chill. Pretty unique.

The bad: I really dont like the controls and the fact that you have to hit with the right side of your body. The punches could instead land where the mouse is aimed? Or at least the hand could be selected that way.

Punching multiple enemies in one swoop is very satisfying! I found the levels a bit repetitive, but I still had fun.

I also noticed that when you walk downwards, your right hand is still on the right side of the screen, which is a bit confusing indeed.

Gameplay feels balanced. It's a chaotic feeling when you disorient yourself and swing with the wrong punch! It's a very relaxing game; so relaxing that it makes it a bit addictive. Made it to level 8!

The controls are really finnicky, I managed to make it to what appeared to be the last level, but I lost. I'd punch with one button, turn, and with the fist still extended, expected the same button to throw the same arm that was already extended, but it would not, it was the other. It seemed like you always wanted "left" and "right" to be based on the player's perspective, but that just made it confusing to me. Beyond that, the combat was pretty interesting, as you needed to constantly reposition.

I can turn back immediately after punching left, so I can hit back and forth.

I like that you can punch projectiles to parry them in to enemies. Good variety of enemies - some levels felt harder than others.

Did find a few bugs - somewhere around level 4 I stopped being able to throw projectiles. I also ended up dying on the final level and when I clicked Begin it just gave me the You Escaped screen.

Still a good framework and I liked the concept of throwing punches with the mouse while walking around with WASD.

Nice job. Keep on making stuff!

Great little game! Loved the fun interpretation of the theme! Congrats!

Really had a ton of fun you should be proud! Game play was really enjoyable, with a few polishes here and there it would be steam ready!

langotriel 2024-04-26 14:45

It's a fun concept for a game and it's great to see youngster taking part in game jams. I'd recommend opting out of the audio category as you didn't make the music, though. Other than that, good entry!

krummsakura 2024-04-26 18:23

The naive art style is charming and I really liked the idea of controlling punches with the keys which is quite a novel approach. Gameplay is quite enjoyable. Nice job!

sillyman987 2024-04-28 16:22

@Langotriel I actually used an online tool to create the music, but thanks for the advice!

langotriel 2024-04-28 17:23

@sillyman987 I found the game music on youtube and shazam found it too. That's all i gotta say.

sillyman987 2024-04-28 17:58

@Langotriel huh. I guess I didn't make it, that sucks. I used an "ai" to generate it and I was really happy to find the perfect music. welp

langotriel 2024-04-28 18:40

@sillyman987 Either way the rules say this: "Yes, AI powered tools can be used, but you may have to opt-out of certain categories.

Generally speaking, AI assistant and “co-pilot” tools can be used without restriction, but you should opt-out of categories where a content generator did most of the work. Typically this is the Graphics category, but it may include other categories."

If an AI generated the music, it's still required that you opt out. I am sure you can find musicians to join your projects in the future. There are a lot of them around.
