a fun game in a slightly strange style for me, but it'll do

Honestly what a funny little game. Love the idea. I think the main thing missing is to make it all pop a little more. The butler moves a bit slow and there isn't really any juicy feedback for interacting with thing. I think that would really drive home the chaoticness of this game.

The idea is a hilarious satire with lots of possibility for expanding gameplay.

To bad there's no sound -- it would really help with building tension and the emotional feel.

I kept failing because there seems to be no way to brew tea -- i go into the kitchen and then what? I thought tea would appear in my hand or something... I went to my master after going into the kitchen but he was still not satisfied--the bastard!

If you were to continue developing this, I think obviously some animation would be nice, but also, personally, I have a soft spot for this crude 90s aesthetic! So I would keep animations to a minimum.

A fun little arcade-like game. Unfortunately the butler is very slow and it's hard to win for very long.

megh-menghani 2024-04-16 20:00

game was fun but a scoring system would be cool

kobato-games 2024-04-16 20:32

Yeah. Butler was a bit slow. If you sped him up, it could make the rounds run a little longer. That or decrease the speed of the stat bars. And maybe this is just something you did not have time to implement, but having a corresponding sound effect for each nuisance (ring, knock, bang and a teakettle steam sound or something for getting the tea).

Despite it's "sketchiness," I really did like this art and found the game itself simple to play.

Thank you for the comments, everyone! The game is certainly not yet totally polished, I do intend to make some changes in the future, including tweaking the butler's movement, adding at least one more nuisance and audio, and either a scoring system or a timer.

With how little variety there is, i feel like there should be a longer gameplay loop - like Kobato Games said. I find the art style quite cute and aesthetic. Add some sound and this game will be a lot more enjoyable

i like the idea maybe if you add more things it can be a great game

taximan981 2024-04-20 03:44

I actually really really liked this game! The art style is fun, and the concept is simple to understand, it keeps you busy at all times and feels like you can go on forever. If you added a timer or points, I would love to brag to people about how I'm amazing at managing a butler but you'll just have to trust me. Great job!

I liked the idea and I had fun trying it. The game gets difficult really fast, and a bit more to do would have been fun. But overall a fun little jam game. Well done.

A fun little game! Only thing I miss (besides it's always great with more content, but it IS a gamejam so) is that interacting with the things calling for you always makes you do the task, such as clicking on the target crosshair to close the curtains and on the house master to open the curtains.

Otherwise, neat game! Good job!

stone-tape-studios 2024-04-25 14:38

Awesome concept and spin on the theme, I agree with others that some animations and sound/music really would have made this pop. I love the art style. Well done!

Good game with retro vibes, I like it! Good Job!

exofrenon 2024-04-29 16:15

Great idea, would have been nice if there were more activities, or if new activities were introduced as time went by to make the game more hectic. I loved the programmer art and I think if it was combined with some chill background music it would really set the mood right. Good job overall, props for having a fully functional game as a solo developer on your first jam!

Great idea for a game! I love that you didn't go with the obvious demon summoning idea. I tried like ten times and I could not win! Lol. Very fun though.
