Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD59 → Hello? Hello!? You've got no signal there!

@Vorkuta I had some issues with the web build, but it works now on itch.io! Just click on the image and it will redirect you to the game page.
Really cool! The static effect on the voice was really effective, but the way you implied static on the subtitles really impressed me. Mega creative, it really felt like i was reading staticy text.
The "story" was really funny. I'm out here dodging boar-hunters and the actual rain using information relayed through a friend's "Find my phone"?? Genius!
I had a lot of fun playing this one, well done! Wish you good luck!
@crispypear I was really worried that the time I spent on voicelines would go to waste, because when I gave the game to someone to playtest, they said that it was impossible to read while playing. So I'm very happy that someone enjoyed that silly storyline c:
Nice effects on the audio. The gameplay is a fun bullet hell. I think that the view distance without signal should be further away. I eventually got sick of following the signal and just reacted to things with the smaller area and didn't feel disadvantaged. Especially since when the signal is on the edge of the screen you don't get any extra visibility of projectiles coming from off the screen.
I love what you've done with the audio here!! That static is quite intriguing and I LOVE the voicelines!!!! My only issue I really had was when the signal was in the corner or edge in general and you'd get blindsided by something coming after you. Other than that though I loved the concept!
It turned out to be a funny game, I liked the idea and implementation, my maximum score is 49
Good concept and I like that the signal moves around so you constantly have to chase it. Maybe too many bullets or they are too small, because I would get smacked extremely easily. I also like the static but I did get into a moment where the voice line just kept repeating the same one :sob: Really fun and interesting game, it theoretically could go on forever.
It gets difficult when the screen is full of projectiles and the signal is moving. I reached 110 points.
An interesting concept with a tough but satisfying gameplay loop! The voiceover really gives it a nice touch.
Really nice audio! The concept is creative, love its difficulty, quite addictive
The audio is very cute. And that static: I know you're just crumpling a chip bag! Can't fool me!
I got 250 before giving up: really the "aliens" event was the only one that had a chance of hitting me. Some kind of logic to prevent getting the same event twice in a row (or 4 times, as I did) would have been a nice last thing to sneak in. :)
I really liked the difficulty curve. The voice lines and audio were very charming too. Great submission!
I really enjoyed the unique static audio and distorted subtitle effects, paired with great voice work and fun signal-chasing gameplay. A few small tweaks to edge vision, bullet balance and repeated audio or events would smooth things out nicely. Overall, this is a creative, stylish game with lots of clever ideas and great potential.
Nice general idea, and i love the audio. Good job!
@caeonosphere Haha I fooled you, it wasn't a chip bag! It was a candy bar wrapper! haha Thank you for your feedback! Implementing better order randomisation of events and sounds was a next thing on the ToDo List (right next to difficulty scaling based on score), but as usual with gamejams, didn't have time to implement it.
Feels really polished and there's a nice amount of different events in there for a jam game! Definitely justified the time spent on the voicelines. I agree with whoever it was that playtested it and found it hard to read the text while playing, and apart from making that a little easier I think the voicelines really bring the whole thing together! I'd have liked to feel a bit more of a ramp in difficulty, like if the bullets got faster or just generally a bit more hectic as time goes on, but as you've said, there are always a few things that get left on the ToDo list!
This is the score I managed to achieve without a single heart lost. Although I could keep going, I do not think there will be anything new since I have played this game for like 20 minutes now. Screenshot 2026-05-06 002951.png
I really like this twist on bullet hell where you have limited vision but can see more by going to a designated area instead that happens to be the only way to score, which is risky when you cannot see most of the bullets.
I feel like the waves could use some difficulty balance, like the locust and alien ones are very hard compared to the hunter one.
Speaking of the locust and alien waves, at some point in my above run, they seem to disappear until I reached almost 600 score.
Overall, I still like this game despite the flaws.
@creeperxd Wow, I am really happy that you enjoyed this game for such a long amount of time! Yes, difficulty balance and progression are definitely the most important parts to improve And you found a really interesting bug, I don't have any idea what could cause it xd
this is actually similar to the idea of the game i submitted,, which i thought was so cool! but everything else is different and unique! i really enjoyed it!
