Now this is what I'd call a meta game!
That was a great little experience and definitely a unique one.

That was a great little experience and definitely a unique one.
That was delightfully weird :D
unrelated to finding the signal, but there is a spot where there are almost no whispers. It felt a bit ominous to stand there and hear nothing, lol
also, 11/10 voice acting as usual
all the rhymes made this oh so weirder :D
That's so fun! I kept laughing my butt off at the whispering furniture and appreciated the dialogues and bit of poetry. The graphics are funny and shockingly descriptive :) It's a delightful experience that I'll definitely share with some of my friends, lol.
this was such a weird and amazing expierience. Really love the idea
What a surreal ASMR experience  I love it! Funnily enough all the little chattering that items make complement each other and make the whole experience quite calming. I also love what you've done with the house decor - very avant-garde! I almost want to live in an apartment like this, however the constant chattering would get on my nerves at some point
The ending was a bit sad, but it did put a tired smile on my face. We all get nothing but spam as our phone notifications, but we still can't help but look at it right away - maybe this time it's something important ðŸ«
Now that's the most unique game that I've played in a while. Much memorable and I felt the ASMR during the gameplay. 10/10 recommend
Oh that was beautiful. And sad. And beautifully sad. And I wish notifications I receive would be half as poetic...
Played on firefox, it still worked in full screen, but had some issue with an umbrella - i see it says signal and standing on top, but it wasn't registering. Somehow triggered it after a while, possibly something to do with firefox though, I am not sure.
Thank you :)
Nice poem, and I like the text shader and psychedelic feel. Imagine how vomit inducting this game would be in VR haha.
To everyone thanks for all the nice feedback so far!
@frib oh you found that spot! And thanks for the encouraging approval of my voice acting
@zedgame glad you liked it!
@annie-owl The ASMR aspect was honestly quite uncomfortable for me to make in the beginning when there was only one or two of them  And then ending for sure is quite sad. I only described the game in general to my friend who provides me with poems so it was a surprise to me too but that the game would be that sad. But I think it fit very well.
@batisdark interesting that the umbrella bugged out, I will for sure look into that. The Firefox bug is for one in three or something and I have absolutely no clue how it happens. And of course glad you liked the game!
@oxnh At first when I developed the floor, wall and ceiling text also moved but I could feel my stomach start to have opinions so I turned that of. VR, I don't even want to imagine what type of vomit speed-run this would be.
To be fair, where I was showing the game to Alex - umbrella didn't bug out (nothing did). I have no idea how to recreate it... so it may be some odd one to catch and may be something with collision detection.
My God, what are you smoking? 😃
the front door doesn't have collison but other than that i liked it
hold up his writing's this fire?!
This is pretty amazing. Great concept, well told story, stellar art direction. There were some issues with audio starting and ending though

What in incredibly unique art style. I'm going to open this up by giving you the **TEXTure award**.

It's going to be impossible to talk about this game without talking about how cool it looks. I've never seen anything like it, and I know this is going to be something I think about far in the future.
The voice acting is great, and the whispering is... unsettling at times... HA! I love the poem at the end.
I recorded myself playing to provide as much feedback as possible.

I love love love love everything about it @local-minimum And what a lovely speaking voice!
The art was SO trippy, I couldn't believe nobody had done an art installation where objects have textures that call out the object names. I'm still impressed, I played twice just to have a chance to experience the space again.
The poem at the end was lovely. The execution of the theme was sublime, I was both flailing around AND being guided by the "Signal"
How many minutes of recorded audio is there? And how did you have time to both design it and organize the audio files and textures. One of the best jam games I've tried this year!
@weglove Thanks for the feedback, but could you specify what was the perceived issue with the audio and perhaps what browser you were using
@100th-coin What a feedback! There's only one thing I can do and that is give you:

@christina-antoinette-neofotistou Thank you so much for the praise! There were indeed quite a few recordings, about 60 of them. The most time went into the poem, naturally. I guess my trick was just closing my eyes and whisper into the mic and almost always accept the first recording however awkward it felt to me. I also made about the same amount of models, keeping them simple in most cases. But since the game mechanics is very simple on purpose, I actually had a very relaxed jam making it.
It was a very interesting idea but here are some feedbacks in case you want to push on more on this type of game : the always-moving texture made me quite nauseous because my eyes could not have a steady point to be on. The sounds were a little buggy (maybe too much sound at the same time for the webplayer ? Played the game on Brave browser).
As Frank Lantz once told me: I really liked your game, but it made me physically sick. (It's the scrolling textures, but I'm not holding it against you.)
A very unusual design. At first I thought I wouldn’t like it, but as I kept playing, I got into it. It turned out to be quite a nice experience. The voices are quite pleasant.
Cute experience. Would have like to see this pushed a bit further with even more items and ways thie objects are trying to get my attention -- I think listening for a particular word (or voice) in a busy stream of words is an interesting challenge. I wondered why the narrator delivered the lines with such a tragic-sounding reading ^^
This was the weirdest game I saw so far and I love it.
Really cool artstyle and cool interpretation of the theme!
@kaijiro I was considering a slider for how much would have moving text, but I honestly ran out of energy to put it in. I've got it ready for when I release the post-jam version though. I had no issues with the sounds myself, but admittedly I've got a new quite beefy computer. I could probably do something similar for whispers as for moving text.
@blubberquark yeah I should have put in a slider for how much text moves...
@aurel300 pushing it further, you have my attention! But yeah this was the amount I barely managed to create during the jam. It would be interesting to follow the protagonist a couple "days", each with it's own challenge or version of the same challenge.
That was fun! I love hearing everything around me - it almost seems like if footstep sounds were added we could play this game blind :D. Short and sweet and I don't really have any complaints or suggestions. The poems were a nice touch.
WOW that was quite an experience!!! This is something you can go insane from. For sure. I need to gather my thoughts on this one xD
**Audio**: ASMR voice effect is overwhelming. Not in a bad way. I feel like that's part of the point. The main character voice over is funny because he sounds like he is about to cry :')
(Also, this is so sad) sad.jpg
**Visuals**: It's kinda genius to just make the textures out of running words. It fits the game you created so well, creating an insane atmosphere, but also the moving of the words creates an interesting optical effect which adds a lot. The words also giving you clues to proceed in the game is an added bonus :D
**Gameplay**: I'll admit mostly I slided around the house bumping chest first or face first into everything I saw in front of me, though I did notice the word SIGNAL appearing and checked some items out thanks to it, I think the actual correct spot in the end was found "blind". But I feel like this game is more about the experience. And the experience is fantastic.
**Overall**: Very creative entry, I did enjoy my time with it and thankfully managed not to go insane. Poetry is lovely to see, voice acting is great, visuals are genius and atmosphere is on point ^-^
Super cool entry, loved just how unique the visuals and audio were, and how well it all came together. Interesting premise, solid execution. I love games that rely on audio for progression, and even moreso when they're done well. Sadly for me, hit home a bit too much. Reminded me of a family member with decaying health and hearing, who towards the end of their life started having some audio and visual hallucinations, and with major hearing loss. DESPISED the phone, with how many spam phone calls they got, and how little they could understand. Because of that, playing the game really hit hard, and left an impact. I can only imagine that this partially represented what life was like for them in some ways. Very well done, and really look forward to what you come up with next!
This is incredibly unique! I almost got lost in the signal chaos—total sensory overload for my eyes, ears, and brain! It’s such a perfect metaphor for the real world, where we’re constantly drowning in a flood of messages, news, and media.
@jimbly Thanks for playing. Honestly I never thought of footsteps, and now I feel like that could have been a very cool shader to add ontop with a wave of `STEP` shouting across the level.
@kanity Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! The correct final spot is indeed hidden visually, so the player either needs to just walk around until bumping into it, or using the audio hints.
@t-c I hope it didn't hit home too hard. The game setting was partially inspired by my time working in elderly care in the early 2000:s, but also came together in a creative happy accident
@zizi Thanks for the feedback! As you might have guessed, I was very much aiming for maximum everything (besides polygon count on the 3D assets).
So good! Really creative, both in terms of the theme and in general. Whispering is easily difficult to listen to if it isn't recorded carefully (mouth sounds) so you did a great job there. I did have to play in a small window to deal with all the movement tho, so I'm glad I didn't have to read anything too tiny. The scrolling text is a cool effect. And what a signal that turned out to be. Had me in the first half, as they say. Extra points for originality on this one, good stuff. c:
This concept and idea are very novel, and the art design is very immersive. However, overall, it made me feel a bit sad, especially towards the end. But it is truly an extremely immersive and calming game.
Great work!
This is quite an innovative concept. There's definitely a whole lot of different ways you could expand and/or improve upon both the texture-aesthetic and audio-mechanic.
In my opinion this entry showcases how unique and novel ideas are usually quite simple and easy to grasp in strictly technical terms. But all the while perhaps true creativity lies in the ways those ideas are put in use in order to achieve something profound with artistic merit.
One of my personal favorites I've come across this Ludum Dare!
Keep on jammig!
Interesting game. The voices in my head weren't a great experience, which was probably intended, so that's good. It took me a moment before I realized I had to search for the object saying signal. Very interesting art style. I'm not sure what else to say other than good job!
What a surreal experience. I enjoyed the weirdness of it. Clever use of textures, and the voice acting was great. The umbrella bug seems to be if you enter from the kitchen you can't trigger it, but if you enter from a different direction it works. Thank you for the experience. Good stuff :8ball:
@ava-skoog Glad you liked it! The post-jam version that I have ready for when the voting end has a slider for amount of scrolling text to help those that find it a bit challenging to play.
@dis0rder Thanks for the feedback! I did on purpose keep the game-play complexity very low this time and focused on experience and you are right that this very much could be expanded upon.
@sheepolution It was very hard to listen to myself whispering in my head too
@oddballdave Oh your comment made me figure out what the bug was! The trigger area for proximity to the false signal checks if the player is in the correct room, and that area spilled over into the kitchen and then it didn't actually process when you went into the hall and approached it!
Okay, I was absolutely not prepared for this. This is probably the closest I’ve ever felt to being a bat navigating through echolocation and ultrasound. Honestly, I feel like I could even play this game with my eyes closed and it would still work. It genuinely amazed me.
I think your use of the theme was fantastic, and the core idea was incredibly clever. Visually, it did feel a bit overwhelming and dizzying at times, but I can’t deny that I loved the experience anyway. The sound design — which was clearly the heart of the gameplay mechanics, was absolutely brilliant and carried the whole experience perfectly.
If I had to point out one small thing, it’s that I think I’d enjoy it even more with a dark mode or darker visual palette.
Honestly, all that’s left to say is congratulations. This ended up being one of my favorite entries: a short experience that lasts exactly as long as it needs to and shows exactly what it wants to show.
Amazing work, and congratulations again! :iphone:
@hagamosvideojuegos I haven't tried playing it blind, but it is interesting idea i might have to try out some day. I did consider dark-mode when making it as that's generally how I set colors in apps, but somehow I didn't feel it was entirely right for the story, to be in darkness. It is something one could also play with using the same shader and cycling the background color over time for a different effect.
