Awesome style and music, they worked well together!

Was really fun to sprint into a group and slash up the whole group, with delicous purple blood covering the walls :)

I liked that all the abilities felt useful and that they had cool visual effects.

Was a bit kinky getting used to the controls, but satisfying. Would be fun to try out with a controller.

smaganik 2016-12-13 14:09

Unique, great entry!

dogeveloper 2016-12-13 15:13

Nice, unique gameplay. It was hard sometimes but the abilities balanced it out. And the artwork was just delicious! I personally dont like the control scheme but thats just a detail, overall great job.

flashmonkey 2016-12-13 16:18

Great Music and Great Graphic style.
More Checkpoints would have been nice.
But Really Great Game

mental13 2016-12-13 21:04

Awesome game. The controls feel a little of but you get used to the movement but jumping is a challenge. The art style looks incredible.

oultrox 2016-12-14 01:12

Thanks everyone! We really put our hearts, this is our first Ludum Dare entry <3

patacorow 2016-12-14 12:02

Sweet graphics (I guess you gonna see this a lot in the comments)really liked the mood in this one, the red rooms and black monster are great contrast for the mood you aimed.

the gameplay felt "slow" I'm a giant monster with big hands who can rip 3 guys to small cubes but I cant run and attack at the same time? that is my only problem, I want to run and slash them all

Well done with the atmosphere and the graphics!
Great entry, I want to see you next jam

oultrox 2016-12-14 12:39

Hey Patacow, you can indeed attack and run at the dame time, just hold shift while you spam the slash key!

radstar 2016-12-14 15:22

Nice graphs and style. Cool musid and apocalyptic mood.
Was nice to run and slash thorugh ennemies, felt powerful.

But attacking while runnig seems to be a bit random, like, when i press h while running it doesn't always slash, making the game hard and frustrating :(

Cool entry anyway !

oultrox 2016-12-14 16:18

AngrySquirrels mmmhmm, that's weird! we didn't have that problem or none of our testers, it should work properly! the slash will always activate if you press 'H' even if you're not running!

akai_0okami 2016-12-14 16:51

Cool game, the graphics and concept were really good. Controls felt a little awkward. The music was awesome but felt a tad overdramatic for the game.

markten 2016-12-14 17:57

Very well done. Using the scientists as a health item is a fun mechanic.

qbicfeet 2016-12-14 18:06

Awesome game. Really solid use of color, feels very polished for a jam game. Ending was unexpected but really heartwarming/heartwrenching.

iaknihs 2016-12-14 18:13

darn. this could be actually a game in steam...
I like. neat mechanics, visuals and music :)

geckoo1337 2016-12-14 18:40

Great entry with a fun aesthetic and a good mood. All mecanics work perfectly. Well done. I assume that you could do something really interesting, using this first release ++

scorched 2016-12-14 18:55

The style/mood is amazing. I usually like games and heavy electronic music separately from each other, but this one fits well. I think the controls are not the best here though.

discofish 2016-12-14 19:50

Cool style and concept!

recursiveanomaly 2016-12-14 19:54

Amazing game! You knocked it out of the park in style. Dramatic opening, good controls, and intuitive mechanics. The only thing I didn't like were the key bindings, but I admit you did a good job of teaching them.

oultrox 2016-12-14 20:42

Thank you so much guys!maybe we'll be doing some tweaks to the controls once I get home today, in the post-Jam polished version! but I'm reeeally happy to see all this good reception. <3

jayprog 2016-12-14 21:16

Love the minimal artstyle!

Really enjoyed the build up in the music.

Interesting ability/move set.

The main thing holding this back for me is the controls. Add gamepad support and I think you have a winner!

oultrox 2016-12-14 21:21

hahaha Thank you so much Jay! wish we had more time in the entry for doing that!

skullpixel 2016-12-14 21:24

Whoa, that was oddly creepy. :D The art style is unconventional and really amazing. It'd be interesting to see if you can swap the purple and red though.

obvious_san 2016-12-15 17:54

You get set a long way back every time you die, but other than that this is a really great game. The art and music are incredibly stylish and dramatic!

yami-no-tenshi 2016-12-15 22:41

For a first LD entry, you have done a really great job, the atmosphere of this game is pretty awesome ! Graphics are also nice ! Well done :D

titomakanijr 2016-12-16 05:32

Really enjoyed this game, it was very fast and the blood effects looked great. It reminded me of the prototype games a bit. Anyways great job on the submission man!

t4u 2016-12-16 14:41

Great entry

drludos 2016-12-16 15:03

Outstanding entry, I lloooooove it! The graphics style and music is outstanding, I really fell like a raging beast while playing this game! :) Quite challenging though.
I'm also amazed at how polished the game feels right now - very impressive for a first LD entry.

My only complaint: a way to rebind key / use arrow key for non-qwerty keyboard users! (played the web version)

stadoblech 2016-12-17 13:53

okay... this is really awesome. My only complain is about controlls. Why in the hell you decided to make platformer on WSAD and action on some weird keys? Anyway, really awesome and well polished game!

rixud 2016-12-20 04:46

nice work, a lot of fun, i really like it..

gamepopper 2016-12-20 13:33

For some reason, the intro is very slow and laggy, but once you get to the gameplay it's fine.

Love the dark colours and choice of music.

murilo 2016-12-20 17:55

Excellent game! took a while to properly use the abilities, but it still felt a little hard. aside from some wall sticking bug/design I don't know. It was great overall!

p4nurge 2016-12-20 19:25

Excellent tight controls and nicely balanced gameplay. Graphics and sound are great too. Superbly polished game!

gipzo 2016-12-20 20:04

Nice game. Awesome artstyle :)
I bit tricky to do wallruns sometimes, and overall movement is sometimes clunky :)
Good music, too

riftpoint 2016-12-20 23:54

Amazing game! The art style is beautiful and the Game Feel is incredible, so good to play! Congratulations

cerno_b 2016-12-21 00:48

A really really well made entry. Visuals and atmosphere are awesome, the music is really fitting and the special effects add a lot of fun to the game.

The difficulty is tough but appropriate.

The only real crime are the controls. Using up for jumping is not really my favorite and game like this absolutely needs controller support. Keeping shift pressed at all times really cramps up my fingers, so I wasn't able to finish. That's a real shame because I would have loved to see the end.

oultrox 2016-12-21 01:49

Cerno_B,

Totally agreed with you, controls were not the best, and controller support it's a must in this genre, but we had no time to implement more stuff! you could check out the post-jam version in itch.io for more polished controls (2 control schemes and shift it's not for run anymore!)

oultrox 2016-12-21 01:49

But thank you so much for your kind words about our entry!

valiap 2016-12-21 11:23

Awesome art style and settings! Game play was really solid. But the climbing control seems a bit clumsy.
All in all, great work!

dssiege11 2016-12-26 12:48

Awesome graphics, always like games with limited color palettes ;) Really nice entry especially knowing it's your first! Congrats :D

megalink 2017-01-01 13:09

Music is outstanding! Killing enemies felt very satisfying! Good job :)

simonhutchinson 2017-01-01 14:31

Super sleek and beautiful. Fantastic work for 72 hours.

The difficulty ramps up a little quickly for me (once turrets start popping up), but I know most gamers would be fine with that!

mrshoestore 2017-01-01 16:54

superb. very fun game with lotssss of polish. control wise, the spots where you needed to jump and then wall climb never really worked out well for me, because it required you to do like a double tap to grab while moving left or right.... it just didn't jell for me. but overall excellent work.

eruiz00 2017-01-01 17:20

In my opinion, this does not suit to the compo theme very well, but nice graphics and good gameplay, and music, makes this a good game. Well done!

powerspark 2017-01-01 21:02

It was pretty cool, great art and music style. I would like it to be a bit easier to grab someone while moving. The lone guards end up shooting me at least once, so I wish it were easier to eat them without taking more hits.
Awesome entry though :D

oultrox 2017-01-02 01:46

Thanks everyone for the nice feedback and comments :)! Really happy to read all of them

zee 2017-01-02 07:52

The graphics and the audio really help set the atmosphere of the game. I really dug the eating for health mechanic as well, it's a neat twist.

Since most of the comments stated the good parts, I'll focus on some criticisms.

The main thing holding the game back is the controls. I had to look back at the dare page to find out some things. I didn't know you could sprint, for example, since it never says so in game, and I didn't know eating gave back health at first. Once I figured these things out, the game became much more enjoyable, but there were still a few issues.

Having the press up to climb was really finicky, sometimes, I just couldn't grab the wall, or I would grab and jump off instantly. Scream seemed useless, as I'd mostly just get shot to death when I tried to use it, and running slash seemed to be much more effective. Also, slashing would sometimes bug out and I would fling way more then I was supposed to. The controls could also be a bit sluggish, If I missed a grab or slashed while I wasn't running, you can't turn around until the animation is finished, causing me to just slash or grab in place a few times. The grab range is really tiny, but you get used to it.

Other then those issues though, It was an enjoyable experience. Great work!

oultrox 2017-01-02 15:50

@Zee, thank you so much for your feedback and your kind words.

I totally agree with you, I should had implemented more hints in-game but sadly we didn't have enough time for that, however, the post-jam version (that has 1 week of developtment, rather than only 72 hours) has some good features about the hints about the controls, another control scheme, and more bugfixes and collision polishments.

spab 2017-01-02 16:55

Really love the artstyle!

zee 2017-01-02 22:44

@oultrox Thanks for checking out my game!

I played the Jam hour version. I just checked out the post jam version, and many of my issues have been fixed! Although I would still think about changing the climbing controls if you decide to return to the game, as they were still a bit finicky. Maybe have the climb-wall button on a separate key rather then on jump? I'd think the grab key would work well, since you can't grab in air anyhow.

jupiter_hadley 2017-01-03 00:31

Very nice, well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/Dn1tVKlJpL8
