Updated the link, sorry about that!
@bigjigglyproductions not a problem! I'll give it a go now
I love the concept and the art style presents the game really well. I especially love the spacedust particle that appears and the procedural solar system generation is done brilliantly. However, it took me a short while to work out what to do as there isn't really an in-depth tutorial. Given more time, this game could become something fantastic.
The point is the colonise as many planets as possible, I wanted to make the goal more in-depth but I was out of time and was hoping the PG would make up for it, I always find myself wondering what might be in the next system...
A bunch of colliding planets? A strange planet? etc.
Thanks for your feeback though :D
Enjoyed this. The planets look great and it's an interesting blend of colonization and exploration. I think I saw one of my planets blow up another one though! heh
Wish I had more time, there's so much more I could've/wanted to do, thanks for the feedback though :D
If the Mac/Linux versions aren't working, send me any errors over on Discord @ BigJiggly#1124, I'll get them fixed asap so you can try this game out!
What No Man's Sky should've been.
Beautiful graphics and props for procedural generation. The game-play was little confusing probably because the UI could use some love. Also just spamming things seemed to work for me.
5.0 OVERALL! Very nice game. One issue, the planets closer to the sun, has to orbit faster than the planets not as close to the sun. Loved the motion blur when you change planets! Great! Can't believe you made it in 2 days!!!!
I love the concept. It is extremely fun and addictive. I think this should become a bigger game with more features, maybe a web game so many people can register and play, maybe add like multiplayer or something. I really loved it 10/10. Had to quit 10 minutes in so I don't get addicted :yum:
Loved the concept! It's something like a sandbox-management game, and the procedural touch is a bless.
Thanks for working in this little gem!
I'll improve the camera (after a while the camera circles can give motion sickess and become a little unpleasant, especially in full screen)
As @listonos the UI needs some work, I coudln't figure out exactly what to do so I ended up basking in the glory of procedural generation. Very well done for building that during the Compo. With some polish on the presentation it could be a very fun space management game. Also, an option to turn off motion blur would be very much appreciated.
I had to cut back a lot, I put most of my time in to the code, the UI could defo use some re-working, and as I finished for the compo, I had the idea of better gameplay but had 0 time to do any of it.
Thanks for playing this though, I really appriciate it : D
REally cool game, NoManSky 0.1 :D, Very impressive concept
The graphics are great and the procedual generation is impressive
Great entry, love the graphics and the gameplay is quite engaging. Good job!
Mac build doesn't seem to run... Sorry.
Really cool concept! I get that you had to cut back on things when 48 hours is all we got . I'd say keep on going with this concept, could be a really cool game!
This game is too good for a game jam. So much effort was clearly put into it and deserves to get a high overall score. Took me about five minutes to realise that I had to click Credits and Information where a RED ARROW WAS POINTING. I'm such an idiot and this is such a good game.
The planets are pretty. I feel like it's a good niche game and people that like less stressful games with no forced objectives would really enjoy this. I wish there was some music though, as it feels pretty lonely.
Space is lonely my friend...I had to cut back a lot which sucks, thanks for your feedback though, I really appriciate it

Can you please make a 64 Bit build for Linux? I don't have a 32 Bit CPU :-/
On it now @cookiengineer
@cookiengineer Updated the linux version to support both 32 bit and 64 bit.

Woah...Why is there 6 versions of that comment?
I still get the same errors with a file verification problem or so? What dependencies do I need to install first? I got mono installed already and it is known to work (e.g. with OpenRA or other mono games).

Ahh! I know the issue, it's on my end, I've built the mac/linux version for a different version of Unity! Thanks for sharing that error message, I'll fix it and we'll see if it fixes both versions! :D
I fixed the version of the file manually with VIM and then started it, after the settings screen it crashes. uploaded my strace here: https://gist.github.com/cookiengineer/0f062a781e282a5c47c1d8bde83d9ba6
Interesting... Maybe with a sweet music of those kind of "deep space" musics it could be awesome ^^ I think the idea is good and the graphics too, but maybe you should make the gameplay a little harder, because I just pressed some buttons and do not really understood what I did (herrr, yes, I colonised and terraformed planets, but well..). I notice the performance of doing solar systems though ^^
Cool overall game :) Keep Coding :)
@cookiengineer try it now, I've re-built them in to correct version :fingers_crossed:
@tuism try the mac version now
Yay, the game runs now. But how do I press the start button? The cursor is a bit too huge, I dunno whether it misses the collision/ray for the 2D button by a few pixels...
edit: damn, cursor not shown in screen...
Screenshot from 2018-08-13 14-45-46.png
The cursor should be a taget looking thing, it's small but there, that red arrow is indicating that you should press "Credits and information"
Sorry if the arrow looked like the cursor, probably should've made it more apaprent that it was an indicator xD
I uploaded a screencast here: https://transfer.sh/VlnWt/screencast_weneedspace.webm
I tried to click the buttons, but that didn't work... so how do I use the menu?
AAHHHH I got it. The cursor is offseted by 50%. So the cursor is not in the center of the image, but actually -50%/-50% of the image! when I click using the top left corner of the image as cursor reference point, I can click the buttons and I am in the game :D same glitch for rest of UI though, also planets and stuff can only be clicked using the top left of the image as cursor point.
I did the cursor last minute and it was being fidgety, sorry about that :joy:
Do you plan to make the source available later? Would love to help build on this game if it's on, say, github or so. I'm assuming you don't wanna share the source, because the gdrive link doesn't allow downloading the zip file.
Yeah, after the jam's done, I'll let everyone download the full project, I have a reason but don't worry I'm not a selfish-dev, I believe that helping others learn can make way for better products :D
Screw it, you can now download it.
Awesome. Gonna dig into the source and gonna report later. Now I need some sleep first, zombie mode doesn't cut it anymore.
Do you also have a github account? I tried googling your name, but so much porn shows up that I'm not sure whether the weebly / steam community post was yours or so
Oh damn, that was a long time ago...My steam name is BigJigglyNutSack2, that weebly thing was well, a phase.
I'm probably going to change a LOT of what the game is now if I do work on it outside of LD, but whatever state it's in now, feel free to do whatever with it.
Credit me if you re-use things though, don't have to but it would be highly appriciated :D
Also @cookiengineer thanks for playing the game, if it wasn't for you I probably wouldn't have gotten the Linux/Mac version working!
Yeah sure, would love to invite you on github into a repo or so if you would have an acc, so that you get the creds for the game and stuff. Otherwise do you have a website or portfolio that's linkable? Also, what license do you want the game to be published under?
Sadly I couldnt really play your game because my computer is a toaster, but I enjoyed the idea!

Interesting idea although a little confusing as I'm not sure which planets i can colonize and what terraforming exactly does after a planet is colonized. Cool take on the theme. A tutorial would have been great.
very cool
Just got around to playing this - major props for procedural generation; that's always cool to see in a game jam. This isn't my normal style of games so I'll admit I was a little lost. I managed to rack up a planet score of 9.
The graphics were quite nice and it's definitely a cool idea! (Apologies for not being able to provide better feedback on this one)
@borjan1peovski Wish I could've added that tutorial, unfortunately I made it with 8 minutes left of the compo
neat little game, always love seeing proc gen in jams! Good job  the art is lovely, too. And it's one of the more unique takes on the theme!
I felt like some soothing music would've done wonders for the mood/atmosphere. It already looked very nice! Good work on the procedural generation. The UI needed some touch up, but it's understandable. Good stuff!
I'd like to play it, but I can't click those super small buttons at the top, the cursor is to big and I can't reach them! Please fix that, I think the game is cool
@edgelord: The cursor itself is offsetted by 50%/50%. If you assume the mouse "center: at the top left of the cursor image, the clicks will work.
Sorry, but I think the UI is way to tiny. Mayb it's because I have a 4K monitor?
@cookiengineer @edgelord working on the WebGL version for simplicity, I hate downloading things so I want it to be as streamline as possible for all.
I've fixed the cursor and an issue with the dynamic actions menu, and I think some scaling issues.
Sorry for the inconvenience, Unity for some reason offsetted the cursor in the Editor which is why I did that :grinning:
Nice work on the procedural generation, our game also uses procedural generation for our different stages. Is interesting to see how others put this together. I felt the tutorial could have explained more detail, such as the UI elements.
@memel06, hey man! I remember seeing you around in the comments on LD41. Check out my game when you get a chance and I'll do the same for you! Edit: I just saw the reason why I remember your name.. you made SCARRY - I still tell my friends about that now when we talk about using a mic as a game input method.
I wanted to try the web version of your game but it was so laggy i don't know if the problem was cauzed by my computer or by the game itself. And i couldn't close the help menu which is another reason why i couldn't play the game so please try to fix these bugs
Hm. I like the procedural generation, but I don't get warm with the game. The user interface often doesn't react to clicks, the game mechanics are unclear to me, and I couldn't find the challenge. It's unclear what happens when terraforming, it's unclear what happens when a population limit is reached, and what the options will do.
Ah, I just read that the clicks were due to an offset - that makes sense!
@djibess the Web version ran fine for myself, though I did only one test which worked fine, I'll test it again, though I do HIGHLY recommend downloading a build.
@mshopf I had to cut features a lot, and I published it with 8 minutes of the compo left...Terraforming does what it does in real life, makes the planet habitable for life, which would allow you to colonise it.
cool game but the bottom button are overlapping each other :/
Really nice graphics and a really cool concept. Well made!
I apologise for the bad scaling of the UI, I spent most of my time on the code and scaling slipped my mind.
It was an interesting game, but I ended up feeling sick due to the constantly moving cameras. The different coloured planets was a nice touch though, even if it did take me a while to work out the controls.
I really enjoy the procedurally generated planets they look very cool. I did miss some sort of spacy sound/music. Not sure about forcing the player to visit the credits menu item first but thas is just me. Good job looked forward playing this when i saw the screenshots, not disappointed.
It was funny to play. I don't understand at all but it's nice. Congrats to your work
The goal is to colonise as many planets as possible. I'll edit the desc and make it clear

This is a really cool game! I thought that the concept was well executed, but could have been better if there was a better indication of human population (e.g. a warning message popping up on screen when the population is low.) Sound effects could have hugely enhanced the atmosphere and mood of the game too. I loved the art, and the glowing effects that emitted off of each planet looked very pretty! Overall a pretty great game, good job! :)
interesting project, with a few more mechanics, it could become a cool space exploration game. So far it's cool one, i colonized some systems :)
Its not clear how to play the game. HUD is not helping feels more like in on our way.
I fixed it yesterday but due to rules I can't upload more than bug fixes
Nice game I played, loved seeing the planets!
It is fun, but I think the main reason to play are the graphics. Maybe music would be a nice thing for the next time
It is a small colonising simulator. It works and looks fine, but it doesn't feel like a finished game. Sure, it has some cool features like terraforming, but the UI is kinda messy and it's a bit hard to keep track of everything that's happening. Ok entry, still needs a lot of polishing.
I really like the planet generation; they all looked really cool! I feel the name generation could be improved a bit though..
I'd recommend you to get music for other times (even if they're from opengameart); while you wouldn't get an audio score, a well-chosen music can help in other areas of the game such as the mood, flow, etc. Also the people at opengameart would be super happy to know their music was used on a game as nice-looking as yours!
I think it's a great idea, and you managed to make it procedurally look *really* nice; it showcases your strengths in both art and code. Well done!
@agecaf :heart:
Excellent work! Want to see more games from you)
I wanted to make something very similar for LD38. I wanted to make it strategic, like yours, but ended up skewing towards a [skill-based game based on gravity](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/earth-3568).
I am impressed by this, and I am excited to see where it will go. The compo version does lack some of the things to make it a full and proper game, however. It really needs some audio, a UI that scales with the screen size, and a better explanation of what's going on. I know this is stuff you're working on, however. I gave this game some of my best ratings so far, including my first five on innovation. It's not every day someone comes up with something this clever and unique. Well done!
This game looks really good. It's impressive that you added procedural generation into it. The interface is pretty cool too. But I really don't get what is going on. Maybe if there were some tool tips giving hints on what to do next or showing that you made progress. Does M500 mean warping to another solar system? Also is there no sounds? I think some good music and sound effects would be good for this game.
Great job on your entry. It made me click click click away. It's a great time killer which a lot of people unconsciously like. Thanks for sharing.
It was a bit hard to understand what was going on. But the game was very smooth with great graphics and PG planets.
GameJolt seems to be down right now. I'll come back and play this later, but I'm excited to see it!
@bloodyaugust damn that sucks! I really enjoyed making this, but as others are commenting, it's missing a bit of stuff due to me having to cut a lot of stuff out, hope you're able to look past that and enjoy it! :grimacing:
The planers and solar systems look pretty with the procedural generation. I'm not sure what is happening with each click though, there should be some animation or indication to show what each action taken does. Also not sure what it takes to go to the next solar system as well although I managed to visit a few. Definitely not a No Man's Sky but still pretty ambitious for a game jam. Think it would benefit from having a view of the entire star system rather than individual planets. Some sound effects and ambient music would enhance this much more.
Graphics are really amazing, it was a bit hard to get in the beginning but after that it was really fun.
Please do check out our game and leave us some feedback.
