LD42 — Running out of space

Cunctan's Square by Ajayajayaj 2018-08-14T21:29:35Z

This is pretty neat. I loved all the glow and blur effects, they were so cool! I liked how it gave you instructions on how to play the game along the way, making the game so much easier for me to understand. The only problem I had with it was that it lagged a lot, but not too much as to make it unplayable. Really nice job!

Cutting Edge: Screensaver by kazuo256 2018-08-14T22:43:15Z

I'm using the Mac Port, and the game was incredibly laggy and crashed on me. From what I did play, I loved the music and the graphics, they both blended together well. Good job!

Cutting Edge: Screensaver by kazuo256 2018-08-14T22:56:50Z

@jose-alvim Yes, I tried both low definition mode and high definition mode, they both crashed.

Merge Machine by matt-tuttle 2018-08-13T03:00:36Z

Graphics were slick and gameplay was simple. The only thing I would add is a brief tutorial at the beginning. Nice job!

The Screen Saver by SvartTand 2018-08-13T18:06:02Z

Pretty cool concept! Music fit with the gameplay setting a pretty spooky mood. Nice job on the animations. Graphics were a tiny bit small, but I was still able to see what was on the screen, so that wasn't so much of a problem. The only thing I would change is maybe a more detailed menu. Great job!

VCR STAR by erebus 2018-08-14T02:10:18Z

I couldn't figure out how to play, but I figured if I had this would be pretty fun. A little more instructions in game would be nice. From what I did watch, it did seem like this was very fun to make! Nice job.

Spacebars by The Triumvirate 2018-08-14T22:53:16Z

I like your take on running out of space. Graphics were decent, and I liked the music. I noticed that whenever I fail a level and I type 'Retry', the second time I press the 'R' key it un-presses it and I have to press it again, which was a little annoying. But overall it was a very nice game, good job!

doof by JonahSenzel 2018-08-13T02:48:54Z

Concept was good. Except I couldn't figure out how to shoot so I kinda gave up.

Warehouse Simulator by Haloreach252 2018-08-14T18:07:37Z

I like the concept. Like ludum1118, I just hid in a separate room for a minute. Maybe if you made the space smaller so that people have to constantly be aware of how close they were to death that might make it a little more challenging. I think it would also be helpful if there were an instruction screen accessible from the Main Menu instead of just on the itch.io site. Audio would be a big improvement to. Very nice game otherwise!

O² Space Salvage by OrionDark7 2018-08-13T03:40:35Z

@ajay-2002 Will do. I was too tired to add it earlier.

O² Space Salvage by OrionDark7 2018-08-13T05:00:26Z

@khaotom Yes, the object is the clear the junk. I'm glad you understood it, that's a good sign.

O² Space Salvage by OrionDark7 2018-08-13T17:54:37Z

@winnie33 Thanks for the feedback!

@khaotom Yeah, I probably should've added a tutorial in game.

@ajay-2002 Yeah we all feel that way.

O² Space Salvage by OrionDark7 2018-08-13T18:23:02Z

@chocolat-endive Thank you for the feedback!

O² Space Salvage by OrionDark7 2018-08-14T04:25:48Z

@jimmyc Yeah, sorry about that.

O² Space Salvage by OrionDark7 2018-08-15T15:31:22Z

@incobalt Yes, I agree that the controls were very fast. I did try to add an option in the settings that allows you to change the sensitivity, but it doesn't work so well, sorry about that. I also probably should've added a score system as well, so you felt like you won something at the end. The part you said that you would move in random directions could've been on purpose, when you reach the outside of the play area, if bounces you back in so you don't stray to far away. I probably should've added a notification saying "out of bounds" for that one as well. Thank you for the feedback!

@awix Thanks for the feedback, and I agree, I did not spend to much time on the music.

O² Space Salvage by OrionDark7 2018-08-17T21:44:28Z

@cristihkj Thanks for the feedback!

@megalink Yes, the ship movement should've been much slower, which I'll change in a post-mortem update. I tried to add a downside to the vacuumship by making it unable to defend itself against sentry bots, though it may not have been as much of a vulnerability as I thought. Thank you for the feedback!

@crastinator I agree that the feedback in the gameplay itself was limited. I did add sound effects for when you did get hit for space junk, but I took them out last minute as it would continue to play as long as you were touching it. I probably should've added some more on-screen alerts as well. Thanks for the feedback!

Sodaboi by Tony Redmer 2018-08-14T18:18:34Z

This game made my hand tired... and I only got to 9000. Screen Shot 2018-08-14 at 11.15.13 AM.png

I had fun with this game, it was very challenging, but not too challenging to make it unplayable. The audio-visual aspects of the game blended together very well. You guys came up with a very fun idea, well done!

Also, thank you for spelling 'boi' the correct way :)

Relentless Siberia by lazarche 2018-08-17T20:22:38Z

This was a neat game. I liked how you approached running our of space with Siberia and the snow. It didn't really hook me. I basically just looted buildings and killed wolves until my inventory ran out of space. I liked how you added a tutorial, but the spacing of the lines of text were not so great. I liked the swiping animation and how it changed depending on what you were using, but I really think adding a little more animation to player and wolf movement would've been good as well. Nice game, and good job!

Space Golf by ctran13 2018-08-17T20:42:52Z

I liked this game despite it being very challenging. I wish there was an instruction screen which would tell me how to play and the do's and dont's. Once it got too challenging for me I just started building huge planets and blowing them up. I loved the graphics, especially the explosion effects that came from the planets. Very nice job!

Stack City by HEXIEZ123 2018-08-13T02:54:29Z

Interesting. Though there were some errors in the text with spelling. Also the last portion of the text at the bottom of the how to play screen got cut off.

Growth Rates by kalcoslinder 2018-08-14T02:02:19Z

Okay this is interesting, I like your take on running out of space. Graphics were simple, no audio (That's okay, you were using Khan Academy so I get it.). I figured out the goal of the game after playing it, which would've been much faster if you had added a How to Play Screen or tutorial or something. I really wish this game were longer, because I think it would be pretty fun if it were. Good job!

King of Bjorp by Colin Doody 2018-08-14T01:47:40Z

Pretty cool concept! The audiovisual aspects of the game were very polished, and they all blended together to make a medieval theme. My only problem with this game is that it didn't register my key presses immediately, making it a little more difficult to control (I was playing on the webport, so that may have slowed it down a bit.). Great job!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Benefice by JustinMullin 2018-12-08T21:05:40Z

Nice game! The music was pretty cool and the blend of the 32-bit graphics and sound created a nice mood. One thing I would suggest adding is a How to Play or Instructions screen because I had no idea what I was doing at first. Awesome job!

Heat Shield by nander 2018-12-25T22:13:19Z

Neat game. I didn't really understand how to play at first, but I figured it out as I went along. Game could use some more graphics. I liked the background music, it set the mood. One thing I really would suggest doing is adding sounds or an indicator saying that an action was completed when pushing a button, for example, when I hit refuel I couldn't really tell if my ship had refueled or if nothing happened. Overall it was a very interesting game. Nice job!

JellyWay by auxC 2018-12-06T03:06:28Z

Awesome game! The graphics were really cute and the game play was really fun. The only thing I would suggest adding is a How to Play screen, because I figured out how to play the game after a couple minutes of trial and error. Nice job overall!

Ludum Dare: The Game by pantoufle 2018-12-04T05:18:19Z

I love it! You found a really relatable topic for all of us and cleverly incorporated it into the theme. Graphics could've been just a tiny bit better, but I realize that wasn't essential to the gameplay itself. I liked the little background music and sound effects, they were kinda cute. Really nice job!

Sacrifish (Local multi-player) by Papaver 2018-12-19T01:39:26Z

It's an interesting concept, though it took me a while to figure out. Gameplay was relatively smooth. Graphics were OK, but nothing too special. Nice job!

Sweet Suffering by dracominer 2018-12-28T06:19:07Z

Awesome game! You guys put a lot of effort into making the audio, though it could get a tad bit repetitive at some parts. Graphics were OK, nothing to special. I loved playing as Scooter, his character was pretty funny, and was really enjoyable to play as. Only thing I would suggest adding is a How to Play screen, because I didn't really know what I was doing or working towards other than kicking zombies. Great job!

Zealot by walnoot 2018-12-30T18:16:19Z

Nice game. Controls were a little slippery, but not too slippery to make the game unplayable. Graphics were pretty nice, it looks like you did spend some time on those. Only thing I would suggest adding is more sounds, I know you had a walking sound, but I didn't hear any other sounds when playing the game, like when you attack something or jump. Good job!

Colony by Tim Eriksen 2018-12-31T17:15:14Z

Awesome game! I liked the concept, and the gameplay was interesting and fun. There were a good amount of Sound Effects, but I would suggest adding Background Music or a loop next time to set the mood. Graphics were really detailed and it all sort of just blended together. I didn't see much of an instruction screen or tutorial in the game, which might help a lot of players who didn't look at the Ludum Dare page or are more of hands-on learners. Awesome job!

Seppo VS Goblins by Feilkin 2018-12-29T19:01:28Z

Okay that was pretty fun. Graphics were perfect, don't change a thing. Audio sounded really cool to me, it sounded like you used a voice modulator to make the Boss sound really creepy, nice job on that. Only thing I really had a problem with was the boss, it seemed like you couldn't deflect his fireballs even if I hid behind a wall, so I gave up on that part. Otherwise it was a great game, good job!

Odie Brought Mom Flowers by Psychedelia 2018-12-29T19:23:56Z

Nice game! I love the background music and sound effects. The game was really frustrating to play as the controls were very slippery and sometimes uncontrollable, but that didn't make the game boring to play, it was really fun. Graphics were OK, nothing to special. The game's backstory was pretty funny and the game itself gave me a few laughs. Great job!

Don't Take my Stuff! by OrionDark7 2018-12-06T03:19:07Z

@wskilljoy Thanks for the feedback!

@mrwillowb Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you weren't offended by it.

Don't Take my Stuff! by OrionDark7 2018-12-09T05:36:15Z

@ianlux @benburgh Thanks for the feedback. I also noticed that there were some problems with lag that happen when you start to render too many objects at once. I tried multiple ways to fix it, but they didn't work so well.

Occupation Alternative by Joshuc 2018-12-28T02:20:24Z

Nice game! I really like the concept. The music was awesome, even if it could be repetitive at times. One thing I would add is more instructions, like the goal of the game, how you win, stuff like that. Overall it was a very interesting and cool game. Great job!

Tower Builders by cheetah 2018-12-30T00:08:13Z

Challenging Game! I liked the concept, and these types of mini-game style games are my jam (pun intended). Graphics could use some work, as it was just solid colors. I liked the detailed info at the beginning to tell me how to play the game. Good job!

LudumCoin by Alexey Akulovich 2018-12-28T01:14:29Z

I love the concept! I saw a game like this in Ludum Dare 42. Gameplay was pretty fun and kept me entertained. The only two things I would consider adding are an instructions page and some sound effects (though that may be annoying if you added too many). Awesome game!

PhotoSheep by JakNak72 2018-12-29T19:39:11Z

This is the coolest game I've seen all day. Since it was in Photoshop, I decided to use my Graphics Tablet that I use with Photoshop to play the game. It was a really funny game, both in concept and gameplay. I didn't find the game very challenging, but that did not make the game boring. Graphics could use some work, but I understand that when you're trying to create a game in Photoshop you are probably more worried about how to make the game run rather than making graphics. Awesome job!

PS: if you are wondering, it works on Photoshop CS5.

Rift Core by chaosed0 2018-12-06T03:16:50Z

It's an interesting game. I really liked the graphics and the animations. One thing I think you could improve is more of a detailed tutorial or instructions page rather than just the controls on the itch.io site. The music was epic! I saw that you asked not to be rated in Audio, but if you did, I think you could get some really high ratings. Nice job!

Shine by Jackson_makes_games 2018-12-30T03:35:12Z

Awesome game! I got to Wave 5 and then I died. It was a really intense and fun game to play. Graphics could have used some work. There was no audio from what I could tell, so I don't understand why you asked to be rated in that category. The concept was really cool and fit nicely with the theme. Great job!
