I couldn't figure out how to play, but I figured if I had this would be pretty fun. A little more instructions in game would be nice. From what I did watch, it did seem like this was very fun to make! Nice job.

This game is something completely different. At first I just randomly pressed different buttons, after a couple of minutes I finally stopped laughing about all that meme worthy lines and figured out that you don't need to switch to audio-video outputs of the VHS recorder to actually view the recording. Then I tried to record something funny with looping Lionman screaming and Newfriend distrustfully looking, but my timing was way off so it all came out quite jumbled. Then I decided to look at those cheat codes, entered one which caused a page with some actual quests appear. And at that moment the real game started for me. I solved level one puzzles, but stumbled upon "teaches manners" for quite a while. I decided not to put the cheatcodes in and try again later, because these are some truly unique one-of-a-kind puzzles that you wont get anywhere else. And it would be such a bummer to miss out on solving them by yourself.
As I said, this game is a unique one so right away it gets all the points from me. And on top of that the voice acting is so bizzare and funny, and you listen to it so many times during the gameplay that it just sticks deep inside your mind. And so here I am sitting, writing this little review, but in my head it's just a mix of distrustful looks, Newfriends and Mumitor's flying snakes.
The fact that you included cheat codes is a real treat, and an excellent throw back to the days of yore in gaming! :)
This game is so weird I love it. I love the art and the voice acting it's all just so dumb and wonderful. I wish the controls weren't so weird - they're awkward enough that I can't find it in me to even start trying to do the actual goals, but this game is worth it for the assets alone.
What a creative game! Very funny, most of my time was spent watching the show because your voice acting was really amusing. I found the controls were confusing when first playing. Maybe have an indicator to what is happening on the TV and what each button does. However, once I figured out the controls I had a good time. Good Job!
Incredible concept, very funny! Top marks! Just like in real life, I couldn't quite figure out how to operate the VCR. Stereotypes!
I manager to make it say "The whoooooooole... potato". :D
The game is very different, I've never played anything like it. The original clip was also quite humourous. Controls perfectly mirror the VHS recording era. One of the best submissions I've seen, but not sure it could translate into a real product. Nice.
This was one of my favorite entries so far! I laughed so far during so many of those clips and then trying to make my own videos. The voice acting was superb, the clips so different and fun to combine. What a really cool idea, I loved it :)
The cheat codes remind me of CheatCC on for the Ps2, up, up, down, right, left, start, select ..... Cheat Code : Unlocked hahahahahahaha
Such a very silly little "game" it feels more like a VCR Pokemon than a game. Gotta catch all the scenes.
Haha, this is soooo weird :-D I laughed so hard. But it is realy difficuld to get those clips right.
I think it would be nice if the goals were shown on screen all the time because I often klicked it and then I missed the part I was waiting for and had to wait for the next time.
Really fun and great idea! I had a bit of trouble finding which scenes to record so I used a lot of the cheats, I also had trouble turning on the TV lol. Very fun and funny great work!
I cant believe how good this is. I loved watching the video. You have the perfect voice for this.
Quite amazed by the voice-over quality. Really fits the theme of cheesy TV shows! The hand drawn graphics look really nice too  Sadly this is the only clip i was able to come up with myself:

@annie-owl haha I'm so glad you came up with that one! I was worried most people wouldn't even try. It made me laugh :)
You made this solo in 48 hours? Wow. The content and presentation is great. Using the theme in relation to VHS tapes is cool and brings back memories. I didn't really feel the theme in the gameplay though; I didn't feel like I was running out of tape, as I was only trying to make short clips. Still, this was a lot of fun but in the end I just cheated, as watching the video was the most enjoyable aspect.
This was the funniest entry I've played so far! I absolutely loved the animation and voice acting in this. I mentioned in my stream that it might have been more intuitive to have a pause button next to the play button, but other than that the interface was really intuitive. Some of the goal videos weren't quite what I was expecting, but they were funny still!
@ursagames Thanks so much for trying it out! Agree with the pause, though you may be the only person who thought the interface was intuitive :P Most people don't know or remember how to use a vcr.
Very funny, original game! Your voice acting/art worked very well for this. Not sure why everyone was having so much trouble operating the VCR, it made sense to me. The only real complaint I have is not having a quit button, but that's pretty minor. Great work!
Great game! The video clips are very humorous. The mechanics for the recording and what-not are quite interesting. Took a minute to figure out how everything ties together before linking scenes together. Before you explained how the goals are tracked it was unclear how they worked. For example, the first scene was the snake massacre and I thought only one part (where the viking character kills the snakes and save lion-man) was needed to meet that goal. Overall a very neat idea, and a good implementation of the theme.
Great idea here, really entertaining watching all the video. Struggled with some of the controls and just watched the show for the fun of it. I enjoyed the sense of discovery you get from the game. Click on things and finding out what they do is a strong point, but also makes it hard to know what you are meant to be doing. Really innovative and a good entry.
Awesome game, thanks for making.
Figured it out even without cheats or having ever operated a VCR, pretty unique idea. Got everything except LionMan/NewFriend teaches manners, those didn't make much sense to me.
I like it when games emulate the physical controls of machines, so this was quite fun. The video captures the Saturday morning cartoon vibe really well, although having it on loop does start making you feel a little crazy :)
That game reminded me why once I spent hour for watching TV in GTA V. Really good, I'm waiting for next adventures of LionMan and NewFriend!
Can lion man save new-friend??? Well thats the real question isn't it? This entire game is like a rick and morty interdimensional cable episode and i love it, i like how you have to figure out how everything works by testing each button and fucking arround a bit with the tapes.
Good job, it was very fun
Very good game, I think it would be nice to do the training or the test level. Lovely graphics.
Nice game, haven't seen anything like this on the Ludum Dare! Only thing missing is some kind of tutorial, but other than that game is really good! Keep up the good work!
Holy shit, this is a great use of the theme. The idea of a sandbox with goals made it fun to explore, voice acting was top notch.
