My computer is warning of threats with your download for both compo and post compo

ekilibr 2018-08-14 05:20

Yeah unfortunately I know about that issue... The. Exe is not considered as official by Windows, that's why. You can launch it anyway. Sorry for the inconvenience!

ice-maker 2018-08-14 12:49

Really neat game, the controls and gameplay seem a bit buggy but the graphics and atmosphere are amazing.

louis-denizet 2018-08-14 14:16

great answer to the theme! The feeling when it becomes smaller is really well done, would have loved a little more polish but really great !

stroe-andrew 2018-08-14 20:39

I really like the game! I love the fact that we both had almost the same interpretation of the theme, haha!

Nice move on setting the movements to Q/D keys! That makes the game even more challenging! The ArtStyle is also very nice! GoodJob! :))

itsarabbit 2018-08-14 21:48

Super cute game! The audio balancing was off, resulting in me being extremely frightened by the sound when you died. It was also cool when you had to use the shrinking to progress, but I felt like some levels were unfinished.

laytanl 2018-08-14 21:54

Great idea for the game regarding the theme, loved the simple graphics and the mechanics. I was not very good at the game but yeah, that is probably just me. Great job!

dmtroy 2018-08-14 22:00

I like it, I think it's a fun little game and the presentation is very good. Binding move to Q and D was weird to me and makes me appreciate how annoying the games I make must be for people with AZERTY keyboards.

blight-radiance 2018-08-14 22:01

The game feels polished. Graphics and music are great! I am curious: why did you chose to use "q" and "d"?

Movement sometimes feels strange. It feels like movement direction doesn't change while jumping sometimes. Also found a bug: Untitled.png

ekilibr 2018-08-14 22:10

Hey there, and thanks for the feedback!!

To answer you guys about the Q & D binding, it was a reaaaaaally poor choice made at the last minute from a french guy with a french AZERTY keyboard. Wanted the game to be playable with one hand, but was super tired at this time and just totally didn't take into account QWERTY keyboards...Shame on me :D

I'll make sure to make a proper QWERTY build tomorrow! Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks again for all your warm messages!

@blight-radiance, nice little bug there :D Actually I guess there are a couple of these ones left in the game. Repositionning the entire level at each shrink caused me a lot of troubles, as it's one of the first time I actually code a game (always sticking to Game Design which is my day job, and Art/Level design in addition in classic jams). Thanks for reporting it, I'll see what I can do to avoid this case in a post-LD update! Thanks you for the music, first time as well :)

c0nst4ntin 2018-08-14 22:53

Nice Graphics and Sfx, the screen shake is amazing! Nice to see a different implementation of the idea i used myself

nam-nguyen 2018-08-15 02:38

I finished all the levels. It was very enjoyable. Simple idea with clean implementation, I appreciate that. There was one level that was kinda tight timing, so that is a bit difficult. The rest of the levels are very clever. Great work!

ekilibr 2018-08-15 07:39

@nam-nguyen thanks for the warm feedback!

devio 2018-08-15 15:45

Great submission, Looking forward to updates if you choose too! Nice simple audio, Nothing in your face. I loved how you had to use the theme to proceed to the next levels. Great job and I enjoyed playing!

mza 2018-08-15 16:19

A short game but really enjoyed. Nice innovative and simple concept executed well. Great compo edition. Game is easy in my opinion. controls are gr8. What engine did you use? Do you want any feedback in particular?

ekilibr 2018-08-15 16:46

Thanks a lot @MZA! I used Fusion 2.5, awesome for quick prototyping and bigger games!

The game is indeed quite easy, as I lacked of time to implement the harder levels I had designed :( I guess that's the compo effect ;)!

historymaker118 2018-08-15 17:07

Good tutorial, nice implementation of the shrinking room mechanic, a pretty looking puzzle platformer with really nice atmosphere and music. I did have trouble with the controls though, and sometimes I seemed to get stuck and had to reload the game (I played the comp version, though I'm assuming this is a bug you've addressed in your post-comp version). I would say that it wasn't initially clear what it was that was killing me at times, some better visual feedback would have helped. Good work for a solo effort.

ekilibr 2018-08-15 17:27

Thanks a lot for your feedbacks @historymaker118! Indeed, there was a bunch of bugs regarding the shrink making the character stuck in some situations, as well as killing him in some unpredictible ways... All of what I tried to fix in the post compo version, as you said!

The air control & deceleration are some points I wish I spent more time on... Thanks again

superpokeunicorn 2018-08-15 23:28

This is a pretty neat game. I like the art style and the ambient music created a really relaxing tone. I liked how the hazards closing in both served as an obstacle to be avoided and a potentially useful tool, as they moved certain platforms around. My main criticism of this game is that the level designs were fairly simple and didn't really challenge me very much. I feel like the game needed to introduce an extra mechanic or two in the later levels to keep things fresh. But, for what it is, I enjoyed playing this game. Nice work!

jamison 2018-08-17 06:17

Clever design. Cute title art! I like that running out of space is both a blessing and a curse in this game, depending on the level. Short and sweet. Would love to see what other mechanics you can come up with for this next! I think there's a bug because I need to move left before I can move right when each level starts.

prema 2018-08-17 07:44

Hello there. Its very cute game. I played the fixed version, so I can tell, that controlls feels smooth. The character jumps exactly as I want. Theme is 100% fullfiled. Missing some background music, but somehow it also fits the mood:) Great job

ajay-2002 2018-08-17 08:49

I was able to finish all the levels, I quite like the graphics style and the game is pretty polished. I have to say that the controls are very nice, this is one of the games I have played that really follow the theme very well. Everything was very nice about this game, no bad feedback. The game did crash at one point, I had no idea what caused it though but other than that, well done :)

yetman 2018-08-17 12:06

Nice game. I like the idea and some levels were clever. A few levels were too straight forward though. The character looks so cute; it reminds me of Fez. I found it weird to move using q/d since I usually use a/d but it probably due to keyboard differences. The music is so nice, calming and fits the games a lot. Great job.

camerox 2018-08-17 12:13

i think this game is one of the best ones i have played this year you really aproched this theme in an intressting way, just one question why did you chose to use q and d insted oif the normal a and d or q and e

ekilibr 2018-08-17 12:21

Hey all, and thanks for the warm feedbacks!! About QD, it's because of my french AZERTY keyboard. I was super tired at the time, and totally forgot to rebind before shipping... :) Sorry about that!!

n-feofentov 2018-08-17 18:39

Nice idea. I like how borders move walls to create more interesting environments. q/d is weird indeed)

kapiteinkoekwous 2018-08-17 20:19

Hi! Feedback coming from ArjenDesign’s twitch stream just now: twitch.tv/arjendesign - Music is great! - Little character reminds me of the guy from fez, except he doesn't have the hat :D - Very literal interpretation of the theme, works great! - Closing walls allowing me to get to the exit is a clever idea! - Controls (q and d) are a bit confusing - Very clever puzzle design, great potential! - Nice atmospheric noises like the wind!

lastleaf 2018-08-18 08:35

Great concept! Shrinking spaces have different effects in different levels. It is a really good idea! I also like the art style.

As a platformer, I felt it was difficult to get used to the controls. That is the only thing I would complain.

dasun 2018-08-18 08:41

Nice game, but I would prefer A and D controls but the mechanics were solid and I enjoyed your game :D

megalink 2018-08-18 20:54

Wonderful game! Central mechanic of shrinking levels was executed wonderfully. I especially liked the levels where you have to use it as a means of getting to higher ground, made you think and study the function of the mechanic. Art was excellent and created a very peaceful mood which contrasted with the urgent tone of the game play. Really great job, one of the best compo games I've played so far. :)

ekilibr 2018-08-18 20:59

Thanks a lot for all your warm feedbacks!

@megalink so glad to hear all that... :)!

toskokozlov 2018-08-19 08:43

I liked the game buy using Q/D to move feels weird for me. Anyway, that was a good game!

poffle 2018-08-19 16:07

Q+D? Haha. Overall this is excellent! Really fun, inventive, great use of the theme, I liked the pixel style too. Just needs some music, controller support and 100 levels! Great work!

ekilibr 2018-08-19 20:10

@poffle hopefully there's only one format of controller, so I won't mess up with the controls ;) Thanks a lot!

firesplash-entertainment 2018-08-20 17:21

Just played and rated your game - you should definitely add a compatibility layer to keyboard controls as A and Q are inverted for QWERTZ and QWERTY layouts - but the rest is a quite cool game

vekstr 2018-08-21 10:27

I like how the first few levels were tutorials. And that font really suits the atmosphere of the game. Nicely done!

jazmin-giolito 2018-08-21 19:33

This is a very cute game. I enjoyed it a lot. The graphics are well executed and the SFX are great as well. I do believe that there's a point where the music disappears for a while before it looping.

Loved the character design.

irhileth 2018-08-21 19:34

The art is very beautiful, and as they said above the character reminds me of the protagonist of fez. I liked it a lot, and as everyone said the q and d is an uncomfortable position of hands for a qwerty keyboard :P

illabom 2018-08-22 16:19

I really loved this game. Us American hate the Q/D controls but i didn't seem to have too much trouble with it. I Liked the interactive tutorial for the first few level I thought about doing something similar for my game but didn't end up doing it. The audio was awesome as well, It really set the mood. Fantastic job!

ekilibr 2018-08-22 19:16

Thanks a lot for all the warm feedbacks!

slimothyj 2018-08-23 14:56

Great little game! Love the art style. The lil dude is cute too. One issue I had was that I am on a QWERTY keyboard as I am british. I believe the game is set up for french?(Sorry if i'm wrong). It didn't cause me too many issues as its only one key above where I would usually put my finger. I also felt like the controls were a little slow sometimes. I still enjoyed the game and played it through to the end.

Ps. I didn't play the post-jam version so these issues may have been fixed.

ekilibr 2018-08-23 16:13

@rytannic Thanks a lot for your feedbacks!

Yes indeed, a lot of issues have been fixed, except for the binding that I didn't find time to update yet... Thanks again for your input on this :)!

thibaultar 2018-08-24 12:16

i took the compo version (not post-compo) !

The game is a little short (maybe more levels in post-compo) we want more !!

It is enjoyable, really nice looking graphics and a really good concept ! I love using this reducing border to go up and be able to jump to the orb :p

Great work !! :)

meta-link 2018-08-25 15:11

Good job mate, you did it !

The concept is simple but yet really well executed. I liked the global mood, with the graphics and the music fitting together.

Good work and good game :)

rubixnoob13 2018-08-28 04:54

Great job! Cute pixel art and music that just seems to "fit" the mood of the game! Loved it!

ratherjolly 2018-08-31 04:20

Really cool idea! Apart from the bug that you fixed in the post Compo version, I thought this game functioned SUPER well. I love how you set up the tutorial and the art/animations were very clean and polished. Great Job!

johnny-turbo 2018-09-01 20:25

Really liked the concept of your game! Platforming felt great and it was fun to play! I would like to see the mechanic of the game be used in more interesting ways. I think you could come up with some really neat platforming puzzles where you need to wait for the right moment make your jump to the next section; or even have some basic puzzle solving elements and maybe even items that impact how the things in the levels move. Really liked your art style and it was cool to see all the text and everything be stylized. Great job at making a complete game in 48 hours!!

martintristan 2018-09-04 05:19

pretty cool game! finished all the levels! the graphics is amazing the the character is really adorable! i also love the mood. the moving walls / platforms really add tension to the game. i also love how the white blocks pushes some of the ground/wall tiles. the level design is really amazing. sometimes you have to move really fast, sometimes you have to wait. the controls are a bit weird though (q and d?). also, the screen shaking really messed up with my timing and the character movement seems a bit slippery. overall, this is a great game and a good take on the theme!

ursagames 2018-09-04 11:30

Great game! I enjoyed the level design and mechanics. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 2:32 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837

void-productions 2018-09-04 18:21

The ambience is amazing man and overall gameplay is very fun, very well done.

f1krazy 2018-09-04 18:34

Overall, this is pretty good. I like the graphics (except for the extremely obvious seam in the background texture), as well as the central mechanic and the clever gameplay that extends from it. Level 8 had me stumped for a good long while.

I have a couple of other issues, though. You can't move straight away when you start a level, which takes some getting used to, especially when some of the levels don't display the level number at the start. My frame rate seemed to drop quite a lot in Level 8, and I don't know why that would have been because it only had one moving wall (the other levels were fine). The collision detection also feels a little off: you start out standing precisely on top of the floor, but can easily end up sunk halfway into it for some reason, and you can end the level just by running into the pedestal the orb is on without actually touching it.

I reckon that with some more polishing, and a bunch more levels, this could definitely be an excellent platformer. Nice job with what you've done so far!
