Cool and suicidal game. Nice feeling of the dynamics of the game. I'm not sure about this, but some indicators, like healths, might be helpful (but without them it feels more "who cares!" way which is nice too).

Arbitrary points 123!

I like it. Gets very hectic in the end. The size of the world being your health pool is a clever idea, didn't realize it on the first playthrough.

It seems every type of bullet hell enemy archetype is available, no small feat.

With audio this would be quite something special, now it is just plain vanilla special. Good work!

Pretty cool game. The central premise is very interesting both on its own and as a use of the theme. I wish it was emphasised a bit more, though - you have to take quite a few hits before you can even notice the change.

The basic gameplay is fairly good, but it's a bit awkward how you have free movement but can only shoot forwards. I think it would make more sense to have a game where you have free movement and free aim, or a game where you're constantly moving forwards and constantly shooting forwards. Aside from that, the variety of enemies is very impressive.

Though I wish there was more in terms of audio, the graphics are pretty nice. I really like the parallax effect with the stars.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

@huvaakoodia Nice score. I think the highest I got was around 170ish.

gamepopper 2017-05-02 12:26

Really solid vertical shooter, seeing the world get smaller and your ship wrapping around blew my mind. Shame there is no audio but I like the graphics (like the parallax stars) and the difficulty. Love a good bullet hell!

unit684 2017-05-02 12:34

Nice work, I love the visuals. Lots going on all over the screen! I prefer the precision of mouse control for these kind of games so found it quite difficult. Also a health bar or something similar would be nice.

The enemies are really good, it feels like a proper bullet hell with a nice variety of different attacks. I found that I could move forward and right but not forward and left though?

alexhoratio 2017-05-02 12:35

It's pretty good! It's got a very intriguing core concept, and a very good interpretation of the theme. I'm really bad at it(best score of 56) but it's really fun!

I would agree with @Veralos that free aim could be a nice addition, but as it is it's still quite a fun game. I would also suggest a score counter being presented on-screen during the game itself, not just after you lose.

Great submission, I enjoyed it!

Thanks for all the great feedback! The addition of a health bar wouldn't really make that much sense, given that the size of the world is meant to represent your health. Maybe I should make that a bit more clear, if that wasn't apparent.

Also, @unit684 I think that's a problem with some keyboards, I think if I add the option to shoot with z instead of space bar it might fix it, as you can only not move when you're shooting(at least from what I've seen elsewhere).

sachos345 2017-05-02 13:02

Man this game needs audio sooo bad! The idea of the health being the world itself was pretty neat, i think i have never seen something like that in another game. The graphics were great, the parallax with the stars gave a cool sense of depth. There were A LOT of enemy types thats amazing for the time given. I got 104 points.

This really tickled me to play. The ridiculousness of it when the world gets small was really entertaining. Good job! One thing that bugged me was actually the ability to move backwards-- I think a constant moving forward and ability to move side-to-side might have made more sense and simplified the game a bit. Also it would have been cool to see my score or my health/lives (if they existed, not sure that there was any).

Overall nice job! I had fun.

ace17 2017-05-06 11:14

Great game, I laughed a lot when the game started to turn into a ridiculously difficult bullet hell shooter, and when world got smaller and smaller, and the ending message was also very funny! Otherwise, cool graphics and sounds, really a pleasure to play!

icxon 2017-05-07 10:38

At first I thought this is just another vertical scroller, but then something has changed -- I saw my own bullets and then the spaceship itself, and more spaceships afterwards, and then I get it. Amazing feeling.

I think you missed something in your description: `in which the world gets ___?___ when you get hit.` -- that's why people are not expecting this special thing about the gameplay.

Also, that's a nice parallax effect with starts.

chao 2017-05-07 12:38

@icxon Oh man, I can't believe I didn't see that when I first posted it. Thanks for pointing it out, just amended it (and made it bold for good measure).

hatten 2017-05-07 17:51

Didn't read the description so at first I didn't understand how this would ever fit into the theme. Then I started dying and the world started to wrap on it self. Then i got it :) Lots of enemies made the game feel very feature rich.

sleepystudios 2017-05-08 19:29

Took me a while to actually figure out the mechanics but when I realised it was pretty damn cool. Also, you've got quite a good selection of enemies/enemy patterns which I appreciate a lot. Good job!

peachtreeoath 2017-05-10 04:18

Wow, what a brilliant game! I was actually ready to give it a ton of stars just for the fact that it was looping vertical shooter where enemies stayed in the world and spammed the screen, but then I realized it was warping the world on hit too. There's actually some nice autobalancing built into the game since you gain extra firepower from your side ships coming in later. Would be awesome to explore this mechanic further down the road with more bullets that can hop and affect your sides more. One of the most creative games I've played so far.

nekusoul 2017-05-12 12:34

Brilliant spin on the theme! Respect for making this work in such a short time.

nyanmatt 2017-05-17 06:53

This is a great idea, I love the fact the further you travel the more hectic it can get. I have a feeling if there was a health bar displayed it would make the game feel a little more intense as you would have a metre showing how much danger you're in.

Overall a great game :)

clavus 2017-05-17 09:09

That was really cool! Great take on the theme and I love how frantically the world collapses on itself at the end. Lots of enemy variety too. Hats off to you!

danhett 2017-05-17 10:06

Ahhhh your game is so stressful to play! A++ would be very stressed again. Good job.

superbusyrobot 2017-05-18 02:46

Crazy stuff here. I would like to see maybe a few more colors in the mix so it's easier to see what's an actual projectile and what's particle effects, but wow, that effect at the end really brings it together in a very interesting way for a game over. Very trippy with all the particle effects in the mix, too.

As others mentioned, a health bar should have probably been included, and the controls kinda stick in weird ways sometimes that required me to do things like letting off of Up in order to go left, but not to go right, and other odd things like that, so perhaps you might want to take a second look at it. But I did like the ability to sort of strafe with the ship, so either releasing keys to change direction or being able to change direction while holding keys is fine, so long as it's consistent overall.

But yeah, really excellent work! Keep at it!

imdigitaljim 2017-05-19 14:39

very neat playstyle, reminds me of some fun arcades!

megalink 2017-05-20 07:30

I like the sound effects! It felt like you were in space. I also like the bullet hell aspect of it but I wish there were more variety in enemies and maybe even some ship upgrades would be cool. The movement felt a little strange and I found it boring that all you did was just hold a key and watch the bullets shoot out, some more strategical gameplay would make it better. Good job! :)
