LD38 — A Small World

One-Pass by LukeZaz 2017-05-10T21:04:09Z

What a cool concept! Played a fair bit and appreciated the mechanic.

GOOD

-Mechanically this is a really unique take on the theme, one of the most unique entries -Minimalistic graphics work well for this style of game

IMPROVEMENTS

-As above, checkpoints -Maybe even a rollback feature, I feel that the feeling of "oh, just fucked myself" is worth keeping and a small rollback feature might make this more interesting -There were some cubes I noticed that had seams, only on some though -Corridors were too long imho, shorten them, or speed the player up Overall, one of the most unique games of the jam, worth playing, well done!

Routine by Breno_M 2017-05-01T20:32:06Z

Wow, that's completely not what I expected! Well done sir! I did find the game frustrating whilst waiting to swap peoples places of work whilst they were working. Maybe consider letting you change it for the next cycle?

Alchemist's Prison by Max Amaden 2017-05-01T18:23:00Z

Graphics are neat, very papers please esk! It got a little repetitive for my liking but I appreciated the feel of the game. Well done man!

Global Disaster by Jamesy012 2017-05-01T21:35:10Z

Fun! even with a mouse. I love the 3D style on the meteors coming in, really impressive whilst staying true to that retro aesthetic. Neat!

Orchardstra by CyberStarLight 2017-05-01T20:12:26Z

That was really enjoyable! well done! I think the one think that I didn't quite understand is the replanting mechanic, and a trajectory line for the seeds would be nice.

Bazooka Freaks by Neato 2017-05-01T22:05:52Z

Wow that is a really neat game! well done man! I wish I had someone around to play this with, a player announcement similar to worms would be neat. The gravity system was slightly strange to start off with, but soon I was flinging rockets around the "core" no problems at all!

Bacteria Simulator by JakeBacker44 2017-05-10T18:45:14Z

Seems well made, have some feedback for ya!:

Good

-The slight delay on the ball moving to the mouse felt good

Room for improvement

-The long thin enemies had a bigger than visual hitbox, kinda frustrating -Game could have ramped up much quicker, I found it really easy up until around 60 seconds, highest was 92.

World Masters by asixjin 2017-05-10T18:37:30Z

Interesting concept, couple things that you could improve:

Good

-Physics felt good, didn't ever feel bullshitted by them

Room for improvement

-A Line with the corresponding direction to your angle would have helped -Maybe a projection line ala snooker

MARBLE GALAXY by Connorses 2017-05-01T21:20:45Z

Cool entry! It's a little plain not too much to do as far as I could tell, sound would have added a lot.

Annulus by Zarkonnen 2017-05-01T20:47:21Z

What a great entry! camera got a little wonky at times and I AHEM, managed to bork your food counter by holding 1 and W at the same time beside some deer things... Otherwise, great!

Factions by frenchie 2017-05-10T20:19:17Z

Such a good quick game, simple to understand, great to play. I played the Jam version so some of these comments may be improved upon since, I'll be playing the new version afterwards!

GOOD

-I found the simplification appealing, reminding me of games like eufloria -Good amount of levels -Music and sounds were pretty charming -Fast paced gameplay is a huge bonus to me

IMPROVEMENTS

-A restart button would have been nice -Some kind of indicator on how well you're doing, something akin to starcraft graphs, or a bar at the top filled with whatever percentage colour is winning. -I feel like the shadows don't suit the style. -Unit selection/deployment is weird Overall a great full featured entry, controls might be wonky sometimes but there is a good game here! Well done!

Unnamed Space Project by Devastus 2017-05-01T19:32:20Z

"YOU DONE GOOFED" perfect! That was actually rather fun, disappointing you never managed to finish on time. Gamejams are always a test of planning and execution, we had to cut a lot of polish out of Skylets to get it into a reasonable release state.

Hibernaculum by redpanda 2017-05-01T21:45:50Z

Lovely to see another 3D game done in that style :) I love it! Such a great take on the theme. One piece of feedback is that you shouldn't really change the distance from the edge when you run left and right, it took a friend to point that out when I was getting frustrated not being able to get into the final portal.

Lalao by ysty 2017-05-10T19:31:32Z

That was a really entertaining entry! You have a great narration voice I have to say.

GOOD

-Story telling and the overall feel was great! -Audio wasn't cringy unlike some other Jam games -The pacing was great

IMPROVEMENTS

-The game felt more like an experience, it would have been great if I played as the next small world, then the next! -More of an experience than a game per-se, not all bad but I was expecting something like a click counter -Sometimes the particles were hard to click on, maybe it's just me being bad!!!

Moon Dozer by sararyCow 2017-05-01T20:17:49Z

Couldn't REALLY tell how to make the ball move in the direction I wanted, but figuring out space was a jump lead to lots of fun. A leaderboard system and better controls would make this a great time-sink game!

Hopper by TechnoNugget 2017-05-01T17:59:24Z

Nice entry, controls felt really weird to me and getting to really small planets was a pain! The gravity system is impressive!

BoopleJoop by OnionBlaze 2017-05-10T19:19:34Z

One of the better games in this jam! you should be proud:

Good

-Art style fit the mood of the game perfectly -Sounds were on point -Music was great (if a tiny repetitive)

Room for improvement

-Maybe the planet should speed up the more matches you make, this would create a pretty appealing difficulty curve whilst stopping you waiting ages till the planet turns around -A quick splash with "Match colours and styles to make a pair!" would be beneficial, killed myself a couple times before I realised :(

DUCKTRON by neontropics 2017-05-01T21:08:06Z

I uhh, don't really understand this game... But I love it! Quack!

World Conqueror: Rule the Seas by MCjammydodger 2017-05-10T21:26:33Z

GOOD

-Solid gameplay, immediately obvious on the goal and controls -The hits and the particles really step the game up a notch -Sounds are a good match, reminds me of NES/SNES shooters

IMPROVEMENTS

-Some visual movement feedback would be nice over the expanses of water, possibly some clouds? -Shooting should be hold down to fire -There wasn't a whole lot of strategy involved with a "secure the world" type game, adding some skill level such as slower moving projectiles that you can dodge would go a long way Great, polished entry and with a tiny bit of work could be top notch, great game!

World of Echoes by multiplexor 2017-05-01T19:52:20Z

Same thing, impressive for the time! Text is a little too slow for my liking, maybe consider adding a skip button for each one. You've fitted in so much in the time! Well done!

A Small Earth by Skywilly 2017-05-01T17:36:44Z

Haha that was quite a funny ending!

Wee Planet by radmccool 2017-05-01T19:17:44Z

Neat! Completed it in one shot, though I found some things annoyingly hard to hit. Maybe give the player some lee-way in the hitboxs.

Toaster Town by Daffodil Ohio 2017-05-01T17:20:30Z

Quite unsure of what to do, I did press space a bunch though. A strange one for sure!

SnowGlobe Warrior by Ethan Allwood 2017-05-01T22:24:20Z

The art is really good, it's a pretty well-rounded game for Ludum, I would say that the attacking doesn't feel good, so whilst the art is great, the gameplay brings it down. A great entry to Ludum though!

Planet Of The Precursors by ThatSnillet 2017-05-01T21:27:58Z

Yay! Another 3D game :D! Those lil buggers in the dark are pretty creepy. Minor gripe - it seems to reset to fullscreen when I enter other areas :/ kinda annoying but ignorable. It'd be good to some indication of where I'm meant to be going though. Overall cool, but lacking a bit of depth. Maybe compress your ideas down for future jams as I could see this being fun as a Mirrors edge style dungeon crawler! Keep it up :)

The Last Acorns by RAC-Games 2017-05-10T18:22:34Z

Weird one I'd say, nice to see a similar sized team take on Ludum. Positive + Theme was pretty spot on, squirrels little world + Complete game, well done for the time Negative - There wasn't much feedback for levels etc, I didn't know if it was endless and the end state is just that the tree dies - Music was alright, but the sound effects were all over the place Good job getting a 3D game like this complete over Ludum!

LD38 - Big Dreams by Iron Leonem 2017-05-01T17:44:37Z

Neat, the power-ups made a nice change and the enemies upped their game at the moment when I felt like there was nothing left to do but shoot from a corner! I'd say make the enemies a little more solid, there didn't seem to be anything stopping me from walking from pickup to pickup and ignoring the enemies. Overall I had fun though!

Blocknauts! by EndlessPlumber 2017-05-01T17:53:37Z

The camera has been mentioned previously, pretty impressive for a jam. The motion blur really didn't agree with me :( Music was great!

ZEUS VS MOLES by Fouralex 2017-05-01T22:19:44Z

Great art, Great gameplay, Great sounds! well done very neat self-contained game! Lovely to see another 3D world in the mix!

Planet Bash by killerkun 2017-05-10T21:43:20Z

GOOD

-Great graphics -Great music -Tight controls

Improvements

-Cheesing the missiles by running around in one direction was easy, I flattened the world multiple times. It almost seemed like I was able to crush more when travelling left and right Small, but great entry, I feel like it was way to easy to beat though. Holding one direction and timing your pounds made things pretty simple for me! My score was 3661002, which seems rather high. Otherwise a great entry!

Look up by Vodzik 2017-05-01T22:09:54Z

Actually not a bad time-sink! Was fun to play, nice to see someone else tackle the 3D world style.

A Rat's Story by stupidpawn 2017-05-01T19:22:02Z

Pretty unique mechanic! well done!

The Little World by JayTord 2017-05-01T19:56:10Z

There is very little visual feedback for doing anything, apart from that, it's a fun little game!

Place Them All by Yami no tenshi 8 2017-05-01T22:15:12Z

Wow I love the concept, I could see some really nice puzzles revolving around placing tribes in certain places. The art was amazing, did yourself proud for that! Well done

My Precious Orbit by SwiftIllusion 2017-05-01T20:03:22Z

As said, controls are hard. but MAN! your graphics are good, everything feels great once you get the char to behave. Great looking game.

SpermoKart by Erick 2017-05-10T19:49:56Z

What a fun game! great take on the small world.

GOOD

-Music -Presentation overall -Funny concept

IMPROVEMENTS

-Random tracks? Not much replayability in the same map!

Cartography by Zorg 2017-05-10T20:52:03Z

Wow, once I figured out that everything was in triangles it helped immensely, great use of colours to guide players to the right spots! Also nice to see another 3D game, it's not easy in such a short time is it!

GOOD

-Atmosphere felt pretty dope, the colour changing fog was a highlight -Once I figured out why it was called cartography I had a blast

IMPROVEMENTS

-A little sound goes a long way, my first GGJ entry didn't have any so I made sure to include some this time, makes all the difference in a small title. -I did quit and come back to this, having a way to sprint or a reason for being so slow would be benificial I'd say -You seemed to slide slightly in the game -The jump booster should give you a *little* more height, it took a while before I realised that you had to hold W if you wanted to get up onto the walls/gems. Overall a good game, with sound and some more gameplay mechanics this could have been a winner!

Chuck and Bull by CheesyMoo 2017-05-10T21:12:45Z

GOOD

-Music -Pixel art -There is a charm to this game I can't put my finger on

IMPROVEMENTS

-Some gameplay, perhaps you were cut short on time but this is a nice looking walking simulator currently -Background could use some sprucing up, you already had a cloud! some copy+paste could have went a long way there -Can't walk off the island to end the game 0/10 IGN Nice looking walking+interaction simulator, some more gameplay and this could have been something great! Keep the games coming guys, looking forward to what you do in the future.

Gacu by p01ymorph 2017-05-10T19:11:11Z

Solid game, I could totally see a version of this on the app store:

Good

-Graphics -Animation/VFX for the rolling ball gathering things up was a great touch

Room for improvement

-This game is hard, I felt like some gaps were impossible when you were bigger on the final "level" -Didn't have any music -An indicator for what not to hit would have been nice

Status: Planet by Kallas 2017-05-10T18:38:29Z

Not able to play! Guessing you pulled it down

Jim's Jam Jar Worlds by shotjona 2017-05-10T19:01:44Z

Wow that was so very nearly a good experience, I have a feeling with an extra day you could have had something great!:

Good

-Graphics were good -Audio was pretty good overall -Was pretty humorous -Fire on the bear level was nice!

Room for improvement

-Menu was painfully slow, consider speeding that up for the next time -Animation (I think there was only one?) could use some work -Mic of the main char and the overall mix could use some tweaking -Some sort of hint system would have been great

The Inner Lock by EveningWayward 2017-05-01T20:38:50Z

Pretty interesting, I liked the soundscape but disliked the noise as some other people have mentioned above. Got a little overwhelming. Overall a great experience!

World Collector by TomBishopSPG 2017-05-01T19:28:30Z

It seems like it would be fun, but the controls really don't lend themselves to this. I couldn't get past the second level. I'd say you should start players off with even less obstacles and build them up.

Hunting Frog by Indeximal 2017-05-01T21:49:01Z

Nice to see another 3D game! great style, though as you mentioned, you sometimes get stuck! Actually kinda relaxing, nice game dude!

Keploo by Keploo 2017-05-10T20:30:06Z

That game was hard as nails! Once I got the controls down I still found it difficult to manage the incoming rocks, I could see some really high level gameplay with this though.

GOOD

-Graphics were good -Gameplay felt solid

IMPROVEMENTS

-Slower curve of rock's appearing -Possibly a few levels to introduce the main mechanics would have been beneficial -I found it really hard to complete once, once things ramped up I didn't feel like I had any decisions to make as there was too many objects to manage!

A Small Game in a Small World by Tataeus 2017-05-10T19:22:18Z

Couldn't play due to the requirement of java! Sorry guys, this looks p-good.

Destructo Island by morbidcamel101 2017-05-01T17:33:50Z

Spawning in the air made it feel like the game wasn't loaded, had to restart a couple times before realising that I needed to look down. My camera kept zooming immensely when I was trying to run, which kinda killed it for me. If you were to keep developing this I would recommend making the shooting feel more impactful, feedback on landed shots for example.

One Giant Leap by AmnonLevi 2017-05-01T21:16:08Z

Not bad! I had to force myself to stop playing. Sometimes the beats matched up and other times it felt really off. The game is really too large in size for the gameplay that you have, I don't know how you managed to do it tbh! fun little game overall!
