LD38 — A Small World

A Bloody Small World by blinry 2017-05-01T14:49:05Z

Awesome game! Very relaxing and fun to play. the music was nice, everything is cute, and the tutorial works great. The organ oxygen meters feel balanced which is great.

The only problems I have are the distance between organs and weird collisions, especially with the small blood cells.

BTW, why are the germs in the game? didn't have time to enemy-fy them?

Every World Has a Pizzeria by Lucas Trevisan 2017-05-17T20:41:02Z

The gameplay is pretty fun! The sound effects are goofy and it's pretty clear it's just a human making them which adds to the funny element of the game.

The controls are kinda hard because they are from the car's perspective and the camera is stationary.

It was difficult at start but I got used to it after 5 games and from there it's pretty much the same.

I think the game would do better with an arrow to the destination if it's off screen, or a mini map.

I'd also like to report a bug: if the delivery location is in front of the pizzeria, when you load the pizzas it get's hit with the pizzeria's projectile and get's the delivery without the player giving it. This is especially frustrating since it doesn't count to the player's number of pizzas delivered and removes an easy target.

More memory required by lolfrad 2017-05-01T11:21:13Z

Great puzzle game! The levels are quick and fun and the learning curve is excellent which is something that's really hard to get correctly. The final level is where the game really shines and I think it's greatly made. Is there no music or is it a bug on my PC?

**Bug report:** * Near the memory insertion slot on the final level there's a weird background-colored rectangle which covers the memory chip but not the character. * It's possible to stand on the block and push it at the same time, effectively riding it like the pioneers.

Planetary Defense Force by TeamMonumental 2017-05-01T04:18:46Z

Great use of low poly graphics! looks really good! using the planet orientation to control location of turrets is very creative too.

A Small World After All by Rmershon 2017-05-01T04:07:41Z

I can totally relate to the narrative behind the game, but couldn't connect to the game itself. I feel like the choice to use 3d assets kind of harmed the game, and combined with the lack of sound (maybe just for me?) really threw me off the engagement. Id' like to see this with more polish, as I think that this is what currently needs a fix the most.

Skylands by huminaboz 2017-05-01T05:46:36Z

Very nice and cute! loved the assets you used for this as well as the relaxing music. It's king of annoying that you can't see forward or zoom out.

Strangeness by philomory 2017-05-01T04:43:26Z

Making the enemies part of the puzzle while still leaving all that time to think is really great! after a while I felt like turning the music off though..

Rise of the Termites by Togis 2017-05-01T04:04:03Z

The game seems really deep but the learning curve is just too steep, and a lot of critical mechanics are not explained in the tutorial so much as they are left there for you to find out, and making a mistake is critical! Really loved how the music slowly builds up.

Afterbirth by xxDOOMbox 2017-05-01T05:32:19Z

The sfx are really funny!! the music is kind of repetitive though. I feel like the core gameplay could use a boost.

Quantum Catburetor by jushiip 2017-05-01T04:56:00Z

Very addictive! I only got to 5600 though... I noticed that if you don't move at all when the level starts, nothing spawns and you can just sit like that. Bug?

This is Cutopia by Heinrix 2017-05-01T14:16:57Z

So cute! the vehicle felt really good to control, the acceleration feels great. shooting in only one angle is kind of annoying but also challenging in a good way. Maybe if it was upwards? I would consider having different types of alerts for an enemy and an enemy kidnapping, for prioritization. Great work!

I did the math to sync time based on the beat, didn't think about using actual samples though! good advice, thank you! Sorry it's a windows only... I have an HTML 5 version but it's 600MB and free hosting is 500MB max.

@devastus I tested the "normal" lane movement control scheme and found that friend enjoyed holding it. as for things getting fast: listening to the beat really helps. The current high score among friends is around 1:40 which is just the beginning of level 3. It is set up so that as you get better, the game is still challenging in the higher level.

@alexhoratio It's very heavy because of things Unreal Engine 4 puts in. I threw away a lot of unused assets and now it's much smaller.

I'm also working on a Linux port, it's compiling.
