What a game ! This is exactly what is expected on Ludum Dare. This game gonna win, I tell you !

thecrancher 2017-04-25 14:36

Hey there, I really like this game, the graphics were amazing, such a good job, an the sounds and music were spectacular, and it was very easy to play. It was easy to get turned around, but it didn't hurt the game too much, I was thinking maybe you could have the moles spawn a little bit slower, and maybe have them try to get closer to the player somehow, to make the players job a little bit easier, but all in all good work it was very fun!

togis 2017-04-28 13:56

One of my personal favourite so far: simple and effective.

When you mix fast pace hack&slash with slick mouse control and a spice of cuteness, you get this game.

(You can see me playing this game for the first time on the vod https://youtu.be/_Upt3PIzndo?t=25m40s )

archimagus 2017-04-28 15:43

This was very fun. It took me a second try to figure it out, but that's not too bad for a Jam game. As the game went on I seemed to have a little trouble moving around, maybe the dead moles were getting in my way or something? Either way, one of the most fun games I've played yet.

king-kujito 2017-04-28 15:52

A good looking game this is! I'm not quite good at it though. It felt like a very unique version of whack-a-mole :-)

gozz 2017-04-28 16:18

Awesome ! I really enjoyed playing it, really funny, simple, effective dans the Design is cool :) I like the cubic style

sgadrat 2017-04-28 18:00

Woah! I was frustrated that nothing told me how to play before starting the game ... But it is so simple, figured it out in seconds. Great work!

fouralex 2017-04-28 19:33

@sgadrat : Thanks for your comment, I've just add a "How to play" section on my itch.io page and submission post

I hope you will come back to judge!

simonhutchinson 2017-04-29 00:54

Whoa... super-groovy.

I love the voxel graphics and the overall feel of the game. I love the feel of the controls and the screen shake too (I've got to start doing that myself more often).

As a sound guy, I've got to say the fact that the loop didn't quite loop properly drove me a bit crazy (definitely a quick fix once you're ready to do revisions).

Great work overall. Super-fun!

lars-dk 2017-04-29 14:13

I played the web version. My top score was 31.

Graphically this is the best game I've played so far. The voxel-style models work well and the effects are pretty. Clouds got in the way slightly sometimes of the action. The UI was very basic but adequate for the game's purposes. The music was pretty good at capturing the arcade feel of the game, although the menu loop was a bit short and jarring. Sound effects were clear and sounded good.

I thought the controls were good although it was weird the camera kept spinning around when moving, presumably to stay pointed "up". This was disorientating sometimes. Pathing wise, I felt like obstacles needed a bit more tolerance so Zeus can go through them at the edges slightly. With the curved surface it's hard enough to aim as is. I'd also have preferred more visual feedback on progress than just the UI bar at the top, because moving my eyes up there takes time. Maybe have the earth lose its green or something.

I found the game difficult. Even for a quick game it would be nice if it hooked me in for more than a couple of seconds, though the simplicity of the mechanics might excuse that slightly. I wonder if even just de-spawning dead moles after a time would make a significant difference. But this is more of a personal preference.

Cool game, hope it does well! :)

samurai-spark 2017-04-29 17:46

I love the 3D pixel art style! The gameplay is very simple and easy to learn nevertheless it still makes fun  But you should really resize the game in your itch.io settings

xxdoombox 2017-04-30 01:03

hey man cool game! the concept is good and i liked the art style. the attack felt really good, you did a superb job with that. the movement of the planet was a little squirrely sometimes, the controls and world scrolling could use a bit of work, but it didnt really detract from gameplay. at first i didnt really like the click to move controls, but it did sort of start to grow on me. i like that you can have a long distance attack with the click to move controls, but for some reason it just didnt feel quite right. im not sure i would prefer WASD controls or not. another idea is that you could click to move and then use WASD to scroll the planet. or perhaps the click to move control just needs some small tweaks. overall i enjoyed playing this game, nice work!

for-science 2017-04-30 17:29

I like the 3D models. Attacking the moles is fun and the movement feels good. However, the camera movement made me a bit dizzy. Maybe a slower camera rotation would help?

Overall, a nice game, especially for 48 hours

szczebel1995 2017-05-01 08:11

Nice game, the attack animation is really satisfying, overall art is on point, the only negative is that camera makes me a little bit sick after a while.

xavier-indie-gamedev 2017-05-01 08:21

Hey I played your game! I love the art style and humour. Couldn't work out how to kill the moles though. I kept clicking near and around them and it had the attack animation and blood, but it seems like all was happening was I was losing health and I just kept dying without killing a single one. Maybe it's something I'm missing...

Nice job anyway:)

fouralex 2017-05-01 08:58

@xavier-indie-gamedev I will try to explain how the game works :when moles are killed, they are darker than when they are "alive", once you have killed a mole (one shot), you have to move forward a new mole clearer. You have to keep less than 5 alive mole to survive. More you kill moles (your score), more new moles will appear. The "life bar" is in reality the moles number on the planet.

bacontree 2017-05-01 09:40

The camera got a bit spasmic at the poles. Other than that, a really nice game. I had fun. Good job! :)

hadik 2017-05-01 12:04

Super fast gameplay, I like it :) Graphics models are simple but good looking :) My best result was 30 :)

breno-m 2017-05-01 16:20

Neat action game. I just have one issue: when you lose, the game over popup contains a quit button than eventually gets touched, because it comes very fast and you're still trying to tap the moles.

gozz 2017-05-01 17:16

Came back to rate it, still fun and pretty.

Everything I said before is still true. I think you made a real funny game for mobiles. I hope to see it in the PlayStore or Appstore :)

See you buddy ! And great work again !

greeny7 2017-05-01 18:07

Game has some minor bugs - sometimes I click and nothing happens, Zeus doesn't move; and intro text is slightly cropped. But I like its simple and addictive gameplay. 89 is my max score).

fouralex 2017-05-01 18:43

Thanks you everyone for your comments!

@greeny7 What version have you tried? If it was the web version, I had an issue with screen scaling. Also I noticed that if you move the mouse (just a little bit) during the instant that you click in the web version, the game will not recognize the mouse button input, and that is because Zeus is not move. It's for these reasons that I recommand you to prefer install the downloadable version of the game.

fatpenguin 2017-05-01 20:16

How can Zeus dislike such cute moles?! :astonished:

Honestly a really good game. It feels complete and makes a lot of fun to play. On my first play, I thought I have to hit the moles until they disappear which was just cruel ^^

damnscout 2017-05-01 21:36

Was a lot of fun. Loved the quick and easy nature of it. Had a bit of trouble at the beginning realizing the darker moles were dead, but after that sorted itself out, I was just having fun moving from one places to another. The buildings are a nice touch, and add to the challenge as you have to remember to move around them. It was challenging and fast paced.

Thanks!

frodewin 2017-05-01 21:39

Great graphics, interpretation of the small world theme was well done. The music reminded somehow of a martial arts game, which was a bit irritating since I was expecting to a lightning throwing god. In the beginning I kicked a mole over and over until I learned that they are dead at first strike.

dink-dunk 2017-05-01 22:19

Great art, Great gameplay, Great sounds! well done very neat self-contained game! Lovely to see another 3D world in the mix!

sun-wukong 2017-05-02 08:56

I somehow awaited more classic hack/n/slash controls with keyboard or gamepad, controlling with mouse didn't feel very comfortable(I constantly lose the trace of where my mouse pointer is) but other than that the game was really fun and enjoyable.

It's pretty hard though. Is it possible to win anyway or it is just high score game?

fouralex 2017-05-02 15:04

@sun-wukong No there is no end, perhaps I could have added a online leaderboard but I had not the time (48 hours it's really short and I was not able to work all the week-end). If you want you can share your high score in the comments and see what are scores of others players.

makenai 2017-05-02 22:11

Super cute voxel graphics and a funny premise. Controlling with the mouse was a little bit hard, but it would probably be great on a phone with touch controls. Who would have thought that a god would have so much trouble with a rodent invasion! Good job on this!

gamesplusjames 2017-05-03 00:58

I loved the movement in the game and the whole artstyle looked great. It got very hectic the longer you survived but that felt really good. Nice work!

sean-m 2017-05-03 03:32

Adorable voxel game :) movement felt really snappy and the music and sounds are great too. Nice work

dgspitzer 2017-05-03 07:01

So much fun! It's really funny when the moles came up lol. It's intensive and the art style is pretty good!

bladesides 2017-05-03 09:21

@fouralex I really really loved this game <3 Just, absolutely no words. It's perfect in every aspect! Except the controls, I would have preferred a keyboard controlled game but meh, that's because I'm terrible with mouse haha.

volkoivan 2017-05-03 09:28

Really simple and interesting to play! Music is cool, sound and screen shaking are giving a cool response :) Made it to 41, is it okay? :D The only thing strange to me was understanding how the deth meter works. Only after reading I get that it depends on the number of moles. I thought that touching them was killing me and tried slide near them :D

nick-bota 2017-05-03 10:14

Love everything: the aesthetics, the gameplay, the sound, and the idea (it's really relevant to the theme which a lot of time goes unnoticed). The only thing that could be improved is the camera, as other said it spins sometimes but that's a minor complaint. Overall the best compo game I've played this LD, 5/5!

tomdeal 2017-05-03 11:02

The only thing that this game needs are exploding dead moles :-) Otherwise it is great fun, challenging, looks cool and has very good sound effects and music. Great job!

aaranos 2017-05-03 18:05

The theme and your game don't mesh well when it comes down to the gameplay. I do like the art, audio, and the idea of the game. After a few attempts I started to get the hang of the controls but the moles spawn too fast for the amount of ground you have to cover in the 3D environment. Not being able to see a mole on the opposite side pretty much dooms you.

That said I did have fun and I got better as I played more rounds. I was stuck at 5 for awhile but the last best score I got was 9 which I couldn't beat. This may also have to do with playing the web version.

meronsoda 2017-05-03 22:20

Really impressive game for the Compo. Simple and concise. I am not the best person to evaluate casual games, but this certainly have its market. With some polishing, it is easy to see people playing this on smartphones. Mobile controls are certainly an impressive addition (I tested on computer but it doesn't lower impact of the feature). And its actually harder to play at browser (as expected from WebGL exporters).

Suggestions: + When a user clicks/taps the sky, until a certain tolerance limit range, move to horizon. + Make the camera Lerp faster or slower, not this speed. It is too slow to wait for it to finish, and too fast to tap while it is moving.

My best score ldjam38 test.png

cassio-eduardo 2017-05-04 00:23

Good presentation (graphics, sound and music). The gameplay was way too simple for me, but was well executed. My high score was 45.

kroute 2017-05-06 09:45

I really liked the nervous game-play that forces you to be very reactive. Also the graphics are really cool. The only thing is that the camera moves can become messy when there are a lot of dead moles on the screen. Maybe it would be cool to destroy them after a short period of time ?

jojocanard 2017-05-06 18:14

Retry button crashed (or quit?) the game in windows. It is really great that for your first submission you had the time to have very nice graphisms, fun gameplay, and even pretty good sounds. The way Zeus jumps and attacks is really satisfying. Congratulations keep up the good work.

badscotsman 2017-05-08 11:09

I enjoyed playing this. Well done on the graphics, audio, and complete gameplay. I was just terrible at playing it. hehe A great comp submission!

blackrose 2017-05-08 14:40

Its so funny concept! And the game its really fun and entretaining ^^ Congratulations i enjoy playin it

david-cookie 2017-05-09 15:45

Simple to learn and immediate fun, what a nice game! The style reminds me of 3D Dot Game Heroes and the ingame music is really original and catchy. My only complaint would be that it gets repetitive a bit fast, but you really have a solid base to add more enemies, rules or planets imo. A great entry for this jam, well done :)

pcmaster 2017-05-18 10:20

Wow! I think I loved your game the most of all so far! 5/5. Awesome graphics, awesome music, innovative (IMHO) and simple controls, overall cuteness! Epic job. I wish I could, one day, do something so polished, thanks for making this game :) I think my boss will want to fire me for playing this so much :D

2017-06-09 20:49

Fun little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DciCZPQtLy8
