This was fun! I totally saved earth.
I liked how you had the asteroids turn into UFOs toward the end, but the UFOs were a touch hard to see against the space background. Their beams made them easy enough to hit though.
I sort of wished the shooting effect would appear even if I missed my target, but I can appreciate that you probably didn't do that so it would be more clear to the player when they hit their target.
Everything played smoothly and how it should have! Nice work!
***REPLIES TO FEEDBACK***
@burgee for most of the development the **background** was kind of purple so the UFOs stood out more but i liked this background more and didnt think about the **color**. But you knew what they were which is the important part :P.
@nilead I just wanted to get started quickly and didnt think **how obvious the whole thing was** :P
@obvious-san If they escaped that means they can travel between stars and live forever :D Regards **music** i couldn't get anything that suited so just gave up on it. Though i'll try find something nice for post jam version.
@lipsch **I kept meaning to resize the hitboxes but it slipped my mind**, thanks for reminding me though :)
@fakefrogsonly I had a gravity mechanic designed to deal with the asteriods, i might implement that, though i've got another idea that might work better... Good to know i should thinking about **additional mechanics**
@physcokillermonkey I left it so **lightning only appeared when you hit a target** for testing and it just became normal for me, thanks for letting me know its important though!
@lorenzos **Another won't start >.< (total:2 recorded)** I had a go at trying to figure this out but couldn't get to the bottom of it, i put up a 64bit build and see if it happens on that too i guess :/
@tombuston i implemented some **screen shake** but you're right i should make **more** liberal use of it.

I can't play it, unreal crash at launch :( (The two files)
This was a fun little entry! I liked the idea of the population level representing the health of your planet. Also it seems like we're only a couple years away from FTL travel according to this so that's all great too :D Nice job!
@aurelien if anyone is getting a similar problem please give me some information (o/s, computer specs, etc) so i can try and fix it. The files work fine for me and others apparently (just tried it straight from the zipped folder and it ran fine)
Fun little game! I saved earth twice =) Those UFOs really want to destroy earth at the end  Maybe you could have the continents on earth move a little over time since you start so many years ago and they used to have different positions.
Simple but fun! Loved the FTL development meter idea and how Earth population escapes the planet in the end. I didn't have much trouble discerning UFOs from the background since you can always track them by the beam they fire.

Too many planet games XD But this was kind of fun, I'll say that.
Super sweet game :) "The earthlings have escaped" :O I guess I was too bad, but I made it till ~2020. Some music would be nice, otherwise well done! Good job.

The clicking on the Ufos kinda bugged at me.. had do click multiple times until it fired the lightning sometimes
Fun, simple little game. If you were to develop it in the future, I would add some sort of extra mechanic to keep the gameplay a little bit more engaging.

Fun little game with ok graphics. Nice work!
Nice little game, I dunno if its just my poor aiming skills but I found it pretty hard to click sometimes when I felt that it should have hit. Also feels a bit weird not being able to shoot all of the time (as in the laser only fired when you managed to land a hit)

Crash on start for me too, as @Aurelian said. Here are my specs:
- Laptop with external HDMI attached - Windows 10 64 bit - Intel Dual Core i5 CPU M 460 @ 2.53GHz - AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series
Maybe the crash dump/report file created by Unreal can help you:
- [CrashContext.runtime-xml](http://lorenzo.cloud/ld/38/weeplanet/CrashContext.runtime-xml) - [UE4Minidump.dmp](http://lorenzo.cloud/ld/38/weeplanet/UE4Minidump.dmp)

Pretty funny game  Kinda hard to aim tho (or shoot if that's the case...). You need to REALLY be precise on where you click.
But I (apparently) saved the earth (but I didn't know what i was doing)
Neat! Completed it in one shot, though I found some things annoyingly hard to hit. Maybe give the player some lee-way in the hitboxs.

Fun! It was really hard on a track pad. Feedback when clicking and missing would have been great, as I missed the first several asteroids and wondered what I was doing wrong. Good job!
Pretty fun and intense game. As has been said there are some clarity issues with the UFOs/asteroids against the BG and it's pretty hard to click them (could use some slightly looser hitboxes) and it would have been nice for some music also : ). Overall it was pretty fun and challenging regardless so good job!
Fun game! I love the idea of destroying UFO's and asteroids with lightning bolts, made me feel like Zeus :D. Visually it looks good, very fun to play, it got really intense by the end which was awesome. Would've loved to hear a soundtrack even a some one, that's really the only complaint that I have. Awesome job!
Nice game ! I like how the rythm evolved through the game becoming really intense by the end. The lightning effect was really satisfying, maybe with some screenshake and more effects, the game can be very rewarding :) Good job !
Nice game, Rated

Nice little game, loved the little sputnik :)
Very fun to play, it lacks a bit of music and the difficulty is a bit binary (easy into difficult instantly), but still very good job !
It ws a fun game! With a little soundtrack It would have been better.
Good job!

Cool game! Like Missile Command, only with better gfx. :) Really liked it, but missed a wee bit of music. :) Also as stated before, the UFO:s were hard to see. Well done!
@rolle after i made this when planning i realised it was basically just missile command but i thought: fuck it, i haven't made one of those before so why not :P (though ultimately its just a top down shooter with no movement XD) LD-PLANyo.png
Nice Game! The graphics are nice and the lighting effect is awesome! It seems that sometimes It wouldn't register my click (or the raycast failed) and I had to click twice to get the ufo. A shame it has no music too. Good Job!!
The graphics are great! I particularly like the feeling of the lightning going from the camera to the target. I was not a fan of only being able to fire at a valid target - that seems to make the game too easy. The penalty of missing would have added a much needed challenge.
As others have mentioned it's difficult to see the targets as they seem very dark against the almost black background - so it's a good job they leave a trail or show a tractor beam!
Overall a very solid entry. As others have mentioned, a little music would have been the icing on the cake!

It was fun to have a go - although I had a spot of trouble trying to hit the targets! That's probably me not you! Loved the wee planet though :-)

Nice graphics, fun game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dPr-ubTa3k

I had no idea God shot lightning bolts at asteroids and aliens to let us create FTL. That's kind of reassuring! You've done good overall! The game is simple, but hits the spot; good work!
