I like the background music, did you make it yourself?
When you spam the spacebar near the booze? you can get both musics to play simultaneously.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD38 → Chuck and Bull

Thanks @dagegen! Indeed I made the music, and @seth made all the graphics!
Thanks for the tip on having drunken dueling banjos!
Nice relaxing atmosphere. I'm not sure if I could do anything other than plant my seeds and watch them grow. Clean pixel art and great music!
@danman9914 thanks for playing! All you can do right now is plant seeds and interact with a few things.
Hey nice one! I would put up some screenshots if I were you. Always works better with some visuals.
Well, there is not much of a game on that, but the music sounds awesome and the mood feels good. It is quite well polished, for a jam game, the controls work fine - I just found weird that you could only interact with the objects from certain angles. That made me fail to interact with the booze until I read the other comments here.
What I really didn't liked, on the other hand, was the "hot wife" thing. A lot of people could get offended by that (and rightly so).
A relaxing little game.
It felt a bit sparse though. I would have liked some more objects to interact with.
The music and graphics are nicely done, and makes for a pretty calm atmosphere, with some funny sound effects as well.
So I spent some time leaning back, relaxing, and literally watching the crops grow.
> A small peaceful farm. > Oh look! A bottle of Booze... > COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!
I enjoyed the graphics, sound and mood of this entry a lot - the more I imagined this farm the sadder I felt imagining this tiny space all on it's own. There isn't much gameplay to it, but it made me think a lot (perhaps unintentionally)!
For some reason I reeeaaallly love that pixel art style. Do you happen to have made any other games or artwork? The music is awesome too, giving that good ol' farm vibe
Nevertheless, there is indeed a certain emptyness, I'd love to just have more to explore, maybe add an interior to the house?
Also: Two lines are being said in this game and both are at least somewhat humorous so I guess one could say your game is 100% comedy ^^
Great mood experience! Pixel art is perfect, music fits the theme, and has is overall a good humor game. Nice job!
It's a shame there's not much else to do in Chuck's life than to drink booze and watch the crops grow.
Oh well. Atleast it's a realistic depiction.
I think you know there's not much to do in this game, but the level of polish is nice. I guess it reflects the simplicity of farm life, haha. The "hot wife" and her comment are really weird though. I really like the cleanness of the pixel art and the good music.
Duelling Banjos!!
Very nice music and pixel graphics! It's good relaxing occasionally watching our lands but it's shame that you can not interact much with the objects ou our hot wife
This is a very good technical proof of a game, but for me lack one key ingredient.
I didn't find any challenge or anything extra to do once I planted my seed and interact with some random objects.
However, this game looks very good, the graphic and sound design are very nice. It reminded me of stardew valley, a game I loved and played a lot last year.
I was sad I couldn't do more, but this proof the game was good as I wanted more.
The graphics and music are both really nice, they set an interesting mood. Everything seemingly works as intended. I just wish there would be more to do.
But otherwise a very relaxing game. Unless you go for the booze. That means partytime. And the dueling banjos are way to funny for me.
The music and graphics are well done. Nice, well-executed compositions
I was upset at the lack of content; I really wanted to do more! It definitely reminded me of those old days with Harvest Moon.
With some more content and a defined goal, this could be a charming game!
Very good start that could develop into something quite strong. Loved the music, it set the mood well. As others have also said, though, I'm not a fan of the "Hot Wife" stuff or her comments. I did like the bull sound when you interacted with him, though.
Lovely music and art style, some good foundations to work on. A good sense of humour and relaxing atmosphere add to the fun :)
I'd like to be able to harvest crops and all that stuff but nice work for a weekend!
lol the intro is funny. Nice graphics, a good start, add more and it could be really cool! :) Good entry
The best farming simulation you will ever find
I wanted to say that it's relaxing, but it's actually not, it's... hard to describe it... depressing, but in a good way? If that makes sense? Like when you're a fat farmer whose hot wife likes the bull more than you, and all you can do is plant seeds? Anyway, the game is... soothing. And I quite like the art and the music. Too bad there's not much to do in it.
That's a nice idea! Also good graphics and fitting music. Keep it up!
The music was fitting, but it would have been nice if there was more to interact with.
looks and sounds great, content wise a bit problematic
I like the cute art. The music was also great. Together it gives a nice relaxing atmosphere. Keep up the good work.
+Art +Music +Chuck :) What a pity it isn't really playable (yet).
-Music -Pixel art -There is a charm to this game I can't put my finger on
-Some gameplay, perhaps you were cut short on time but this is a nice looking walking simulator currently -Background could use some sprucing up, you already had a cloud! some copy+paste could have went a long way there -Can't walk off the island to end the game 0/10 IGN Nice looking walking+interaction simulator, some more gameplay and this could have been something great! Keep the games coming guys, looking forward to what you do in the future.
Don't really know what to do :/.
A relaxing experience all right. It is not everyday that I get to roleplay a hillbilly farmer with a hot wive, one stud of a bull and my very own floating isle.
Some sort of a purpose would add a lot. Here are a few ideas: - The *prize bull of the year* competition is coming up. Groom Ben the Bull to top shape. - Your loans are due. Figure out a way to earn enough money or to wiggle out of them somehow. - Just survive. It is a floating rock, how often does the trader visit again?
Nice work on the audiovisuals. Interactions are next!
As everyone else says, nice music and art work, only needs some gameplay
Fitting music, nice colours. The pixel art is pretty good, but it's a bit hard to see the looks of some of the items and characters. The text box also looks really out of place in comparison to the graphics. This game could have also used some more sound effects for certain actions; it would have really added to the charm.
As a game, there isn't much to it, as stated by the other comments. I don't think that there necessarily needs to be a survival element, but if it's going to be like an interactive piece, there does need to be a lot more to do.
Chuck and Bull 01.png
I think the item circled in red was what others were referring to as "booze"; when I interacted with it, it just started the music over from the beginning. I'm also not sure if the chicken's text is supposed to be humour or a typo. Considering the other piece of text is with the wife, I couldn't really tell.
Chuck walked around being quite content. Nice game.
The collision with obstacles felt a bit too strict at times. It was actually rather hard to get Chuck to do their work, almost down to it mattered which direction I entered the tile decided if panting was allowed. So it would have been nice if that interaction was made smoother.
I would have enjoyed getting to end the day by going back to the start position. The next X days could have been with tasks like: "Watch plants grow". That'd been nice.
Goot work.
