The graphics are beautiful but the controls are way too sensitive and something like a deadzone in the center of the screen would have helped.

@teekeks Thanks :). There should be a deadzone? I double checked and there is one just a bit wider than the character and from about the center of his body and a heads length above it? I tried to balance it so that you didn't need to pull too far in the opposite direction when making adjustments but if others comment on that too it may need to be adjusted more in its revision. Also if you hold down the left mouse button that slows your rotational momentum so that may help you too if you missed that.
A little too hard to control, but it looks really cool.
@nilead Thanks. If it intrigued you enough you might like to check out the post-LD version at the bottom of the post which I had time to tweak the movement even further-including the most significant change of making the right click rotate your character backwards instead of to the right to help aid maneuvering more meaningfully. Though of course that wouldn't affect your impression here-just in-case you could have a more fun time with it there :).
It looks really good but I could not really control my character. With a little bit of work and your win state implemented this could be a really nice game, though.
The graphics are awesome :) Just the controls are a bit icky, I had problems to keep the camera where I wanted. Otherwise a really nice idea with great potential! Looking forward for a post-jam version.
Nice work on graphics :) Like everyone said , controls can be improved.Cool game overall.
Your controlls are a bit confusing, but when I eventually managed to destroy a star it was really satisfying. Your audio and visuals are definitely very polished.
I really liked the concept of the game, but the controls are unfortunately so damn hard. I was able to destroy a few orbs but the camera just goes completely nuts.
I wish I were able to control my movement a bit more than only going front with the left click.
Graphically the game is super impressive in my opinion, and the sounds are great aswel.
@LeFayGames and @obvious-san Thank you both very much, regrettably it does seem like the rotation was left too sensitive here. I have adjusted it further in the post-LD build which has the win state completed too :) here | https://swiftillusion.itch.io/my-precious-orbit Based on the feedback so far though I'll try to also add in-game keys to adjust the sensitivity soon.
Pretty nice art, good idea, but fails because the controls. I loved the concept you tried to apply of non-classic controls, but it feels unfair for the player, and I found myself more fustrated about that, than being beaten by rogue solar systems. As others have already said, I want to see some post-jam tuning. Congrats for the game, and good luck!
Nice work even if controls doesn't work very well with this type of game because is very difficult focus on an objective and punch them. Anyway i like the background and art style. Good job.
Great graphics. Especially good job on particles. I liked the design of the character and how you integrated life feedback on the model. The game woud be great if it wasn't so difficult to control the character.
I also tried the post-jam version. Particles on suns are even better and background music adds a good atmosphere. Also saw an improvement on the controls but it's still difficult to control.
Anyway, you've got an original take on the theme. Very nice idea :)
Like you said, core concept is great! Follows the theme really well, but I really wish you were able to add a score system, it seems I'm just going around in space hitting planets around into a clump. Excited to see where this one goes.
As said, controls are hard. but MAN! your graphics are good, everything feels great once you get the char to behave. Great looking game.
Nice entry! I like the concept, very unique. As others have said the controls were a tad sensitive, and a little funky, but I enjoyed it! Nice work :)
I have to be super honest, I wasn't able to play your game for very long because it was instant motion sickness for me. The graphics look really good though and the player model is really cool. I did manage to destroy a star before I stopped out of stubbornness, and that was satisfying!
If you could slow down the camera or at least add a dead spot so it isn't *always* moving I think it would be a lot more tolerable for me.
The art is beautiful!
Great art! I didn't quite get the gameplay though...
@mutfak-studios, @mde, @josefalanga, @vidinu, @dink-dunk, @aj-weeks, @turbo-hermit, @gerardb Thanks so much everyone for checking it out, I'm sincerely sorry I didn't manage the time I'd hoped to fine tune the turning rate more for the entry. **If you'd like to take it for another shot though I've got a post-LD build available here-** https://swiftillusion.itch.io/my-precious-orbit In addition to the win condition being achievable now I made a further overhaul to the balance and turn speed based on the feedback here, including 3 settings for both turn speed and area size for where the mouse won't turn you. You might have difficulty dodging solar systems on the lowest speed but it should be an easy entry point until you become comfortable. I largely focused on the second speed for the difficulty balance target and happily completed a run to make a pure solar system lasting 12 billion and 16 billion years, the 3rd and 2nd highest scores available short of perfect. All 3 turn speeds are lower than this original one, so I hope you'll get to be able to enjoy the full experience more now :)! @scornz The update mentioned above has a 'completion score'/end goal so hopefully that'll present a better experience for you, thanks for your enthusiasm. @burgee So sorry to hear. I wasn't sure how people with motion sickness would fair with the game but I really appreciate your attempt. The revision above has scaled turn speed options so I'm not sure if you'll be comfortable enough to enjoy it to the end but it will hopefully aid you in another try if you'd like. @lugdumdare-team Thanks so much for the feedback and for also giving the revision a test! I've updated it further based on the feedback here and the right mouse now just doubles your rotation speed instead of turning you upwards to help bridge the gap and make the moment to moment action more accessible if you'd like to try again in the future. Happy to hear you appreciate it all so :)!
As some other people said, the game is pretty disorienting, but I like that! It adds to the cool, spacey vibe. Also, the art is really nice!
Maybe there was a great idea behind the game, but I found it a little too complicated to save the fairy-like object from the fireballs. Although graphics are bright and it was a pleasure to see such a game based on physics :)
The player reminded me of Rose from Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 hehh. Interesting little game, a bit too hard to control. There is a deadzone but I felt the problem was the sensitivity - how fast you changed direction, not the area. Good effort though!
Certainly a cool environment with physics based gameplay, it was a solid idea but the input felt a little off. The graphics were really good and the game was a unique interpretation of the theme which is cool.
Perhaps the mouse input could be improved and sensitivty decreased + add the option to change rotation momentum with your arrow keys for more precise control. Some space music would certainly have been awesome too to amplify the space feeling effect even more. Good job!
The Graphics do look quite nice. But i do i think that the controls are a bit to sensitive. Other than that it was fun to play and definitely something unique.
Yes, the controls are way too sensitive, making the gameplay frustrating. The 3d models are very good looking. The physics and animations are neat.
Hey, I really liked how pretty this game was. Shame that you didn't have the time to fully finish this how you intended.
I agree with a few of the people here, the game's a little too sensitive. I also feel as though the theme isn't very clear here. Hope to see what you take with the feedback, and hope to see you next Ludum Dare!
*o* Interesting, I'd like graphic in game.
How beautiful! Graphics are especially wonderful, and I've never seen anything quite like the the controls before. I had a little trouble figuring out how to move despite the instructions just because I'm a comparatively new gamer but when I figured it out I really got into the game.
This game gave me sea sick :confounded: The controls were hard to master. On the other hand, the graphics are astonishing, the physics effective. I particularly appreciated the slow motion when you punch a ball :astonished:
cute character and cute particle effects :ok_hand:
