LD38 — A Small World

Falling ground by Mr. Chelnoque 2017-05-01T20:14:01Z

Nice background music and style, but I don't really have much incentive to keep playing if all I can do is fall and hope to land on something. Maybe making the platforms closer together or zooming the camera out further would help that.

Hopper by Porcus_Pie 2017-05-01T20:09:27Z

Nice work! The sounds do really fit the game nicely. The simple colour palette also works nicely with the simplistic mechanics. I don't see a need to have the zoomed out camera only active on a keypress though, as I held it down the entire game. Maybe making it a toggle, or just removing the option entirely would have been better? Nice job either way :)

Terrasphere by Broxxar 2017-05-01T19:56:54Z

Quite calming :) Simple idea, clean execution. I like the aesthetic!

Orchardstra by CyberStarLight 2017-05-01T20:28:27Z

Interesting entry! If I can say one thing it would be the world should have been a bit bigger so I could more easily see the guys on the surface. I liked the changing cursor though! Good work!

HexaHover by AJ Weeks 2017-05-01T19:35:31Z

Thanks for the feedback @heinrix! You're definitely right about having an advantage with a controller, ideally everyone is using the same input method.

An Adventurer's Exodus by Aggrathon 2017-05-01T20:38:48Z

Nice aesthetic! I liked the concept too. Quite an ambitious game, but well put together. Nice job! :)

Annulus by Zarkonnen 2017-05-01T20:24:38Z

I've never played a game that takes place on the inside of a ring before! One thing that got a bit annoying was the controls, I think they could've adapted to the rotation of the camera better, or maybe the camera should've rotated with the player. Nice game though!

Food Fight by Scornz 2017-05-01T20:01:10Z

Nice graphics! I like the realistic style. Shooting sound gets a little repetitive but nice game other than that :)

Moon Dozer by sararyCow 2017-05-01T19:48:14Z

Interesting concept, I found the camera changes to be a little jarring though. Maybe just keeping it zoomed out would've worked better. I like the list of places on the right that updates as you go through the game!

Bumble Jumble by bram_ve 2017-05-01T20:43:23Z

Very relaxing environment :) I loved the graphical style. A unique take on the theme. Good work!

World Tetris by mde 2017-05-01T20:29:35Z

Interesting take on the theme! Difficult but well made. Good job!

Mind's Eye by Kosmo 2017-05-01T20:18:38Z

I like the concept! Pretty well implemented too, for the short amount of time you had to work on it. One thing I would change is the controls, it took me a minute to figure out how exactly to do anything. Nice work though!

A small step for life by timo nys 2017-05-03T15:10:15Z

Not bad for your first unity game! You ended up with a pretty nice result for how little time you had. Good job :) Can't wait to see what you make in the future!

Arindama by Daniel Moreno 2017-05-04T07:52:59Z

This is definitely the best entry I've played thus far! Really great job all around - I loved the style and the simple, but unique main mechanic. Fantastic work :)

The Epic Quest For The Mighty Croissant by 0x0 2017-05-01T21:04:12Z

Really nice looking entry! Good work :)

Mind The Gap (First Ludum Dare) by Izunah 2017-05-01T20:33:19Z

As others have said, aiming is a little tough, but the concept is neat! Good work!

4 Hours by Christian Koch 2017-05-01T20:53:48Z

Interesting concept! I liked the background music. I think it might've been a bit easier to play through if the controls were different. There are so many keys it's hard to keep track of them all. Also the movement felt a little clunky, which is a super important part of the game.

Still a nice entry! Good job :)

My Precious Orbit by SwiftIllusion 2017-05-01T20:35:51Z

Nice entry! I like the concept, very unique. As others have said the controls were a tad sensitive, and a little funky, but I enjoyed it! Nice work :)

Limited Space by Vidinu 2017-05-01T19:53:33Z

Nice job melding two different game ideas! They both seemed to be fleshed out for how little time you had. Good job :)

LD39 — Running out of Power

Assault//Battery by tuism 2017-08-02T15:12:42Z

Really fun entry! The animation of the guy is very smooth, and he really feels weighty. Great work! Nice background track as well.

Escapade ! by Togimaro 2017-08-02T14:16:55Z

Is it possible to beat this game? I tried many times and could never find said hot air balloon. Still a very enjoyable game. Impressive that you went for procedural generation in a game jam! It worked out though, this is a nice entry. Good job!

tropix 🌴 by cakeknuckles 2017-08-02T13:33:18Z

Nice theming, cute graphics and SFX. I have never found photo taking games to be all that enticing but this is a nice entry nonetheless

Robo Power by jahndis 2017-08-02T10:36:02Z

Really great job! Lovely aesthetic, clever puzzles, great use of the theme! I really like that you are basically programming the robot - it's a very unique input method. Best game LD93 game I've played yet

Mining Brothers: An Energetic Tale by bakudas 2017-08-02T13:14:32Z

Neat visual style, and a very unique main mechanic! I like the idea - but unfortunately every time I played I ran into the side of a track because I jumped too late and was stuck forever, so I had to restart the game. Really a shame, as I would have liked to see the later parts of the game but couldn't. Still, nice work

⚡ Swing Bolt ⚡ by AJ Weeks 2017-08-02T14:42:16Z

@avon Indeed an online highscore sheet would be awesome! Maybe I'll look into that so I have an idea how to add it next time! I agree with your second point as well, I wasn't sure what to do and decided instead of adding a new feature to just polish. Thanks for the feedback!

⚡ Swing Bolt ⚡ by AJ Weeks 2017-08-02T14:44:57Z

@zelos Thanks! I considered adding holes in the corners for the blue guys to fall into when the board filled up, but didn't get around to it in the 48 hours.

⚡ Swing Bolt ⚡ by AJ Weeks 2017-08-02T15:17:01Z

@tyguy Thanks so much! Multiplayer would be pretty fun, you're right! I'll take a look

⚡ Swing Bolt ⚡ by AJ Weeks 2017-08-02T20:53:11Z

@fusionnist Wow thank you for the kind words! Absolutely, feel free to upload some footage. I'm currently adding a few small features for a new version - namely a leaderboard and maybe multiplayer. Stay tuned!

Runner Out Of Power by Mathiouza 2017-08-02T15:02:13Z

Cool idea, never seen anything like it before. Simple style, but it works. One thing which would have made me want to play a lot longer is shortening the respawn time. As it is now I have to sit and wait for maybe 3 whole seconds before I can try again, which is a bit agonizing in such a difficult game. Here's a good source on some different death systems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WyalnKQIpg Good work though!

Running Voltgun by sinclairstrange 2017-08-02T14:07:38Z

Truly an immense amount of content to be made in a single weekend! Very polished looking/feeling. Really looks like a classic shooter, with even a bit more juice added in. Lovely use of the theme as well  Great entry!

Battery boy is running out of juice ! by Batheo3000 2017-08-02T08:57:01Z

Nice game, fun, cool hand-drawn style. Shooting and moving felt a little sticky/unresponsive at times, but overall great work :)

Ministry of Synthesis by impbox 2017-08-02T14:21:18Z

Really nice concept, and very well executed  I found the controls slightly hard to remember, but I guess it's tough to map three things to the keyboard like that. Loved the pixel art style, and the game seemed very polished! Nice entry

Durst by Pikas96 2017-08-02T13:53:00Z

Nice little game. Really liked the sounds each thing made, not your typical chiptune SFX. Also unique and interesting combat mechanics, overall a nice entry!

Radrover Snap!! by radmars 2017-08-02T08:00:46Z

Cool aesthetic, very unusual. Mouse and keyboard controls were a bit tough, but manageable I suppose. Good work!

I NEED POWER by pauljs 2017-08-02T07:58:18Z

I liked the idea of having multiple things to do simultaneously, that kept my interest for a while. My best score was 401! I would have liked a small text bubble saying what to do at the start though, as I had to refer back to this page before I could play. Good work nonetheless!

Lola's Barkade by A-Flat Miner Studios 2017-08-02T13:18:15Z

Really unique idea, and nice graphical style! Unfortunately the game spat out a big error window on the first playthrough, but other than that this is a nice entry  It's a bit tough, but still enjoyable.

Programmer Energy by sn0uk 2017-07-31T18:11:15Z

Nice job! Definitely captured my attention for a few minutes, something many other games I've played so far have not managed to do.

Devious Plant Commando by Marcenat 2017-08-02T10:19:58Z

Cool concept! I didn't realize enemies become more tolerant to your guns to more you shoot them until I read the page, I think it would have been cool if that was more obvious in the game. I still enjoyed going around shooting plants nevertheless  Nice work!

HELLTRAIN by merlyboy 2017-08-02T14:29:14Z

Fun little game! Nice hand-painted style graphics, cool concept. Would've been great with a little background music but oh well.

Icebroken by merzlot 2017-08-02T13:10:00Z

Really nice entry, I loved the style and the gameplay was very enticing. If only it was a little easier - I couldn't beat it even after maybe half a dozen attempts. Still loved it though - great work!

Night of the Living Toaster by WhatFruit 2017-07-31T17:53:53Z

Neat concept! Cool shaders gave the game a unique look. My only gripe is that sometimes the player couldn't seem to move in a certain direction for seemingly no reason. Great job nonetheless!

Power Sphere by Sergey Nelga 2017-08-02T12:49:55Z

Interesting concept, but I think the player's movement speed was much too slow to create interesting gameplay, as well as the speed of the rising platforms. If you get cornered by several enemies you are pretty much instantly dead, which isn't the best feeling either. I like the colours used, and the low poly style definitely worked well.

Zombies and RVs by pixelgriffin 2017-08-02T13:39:02Z

Really good looking game, fast paced aciton. I appreciate you showing controls in game - not enough jam games do that. My only complaint would be that jumping felt a little flaky sometimes. Nice graphics and sound design though! Great entry

No Sorcerer's Sky by TheFlyingKeyboard 2017-08-02T07:53:03Z

Interesting ideas presented here, but the UI could have been a bit better. I would have liked to be able to see my inventory at all times, and see clearly that a structure can be built or upgraded with the supplies I have currently, rather than checking each amount. I liked the chill background music and the comic-style ending was neat.

THIRST by Togis 2017-08-02T14:34:59Z

Unique take on the theme! I liked the art style and the idea was neat. It would have been even better if the game looked at where you can go and would give you at least one piece that you can move along. Still a nice entry

MotherBoard by nikrt 2017-08-02T10:45:38Z

Really creative take on the theme! Although I think the if movement speed & turn rate were increased the game would be a lot more fun. Nice work nonetheless!

X-Moon 2: Dark Moon by leafo 2017-08-02T08:55:03Z

Cool style, but a little too hard to see where you're going for me. I know that's the point, but I think the light radius could have been a little bigger. Nice overall aesthetic though :)

Woundlings by DavidByers 2017-08-02T13:50:45Z

Lovely graphical style, and interesting little details hidden throughout the game! It took a little getting used to moving the little dinos around, but once I did it was a fun thing to play through

Turrets Turrets by ryzy27 2017-08-02T09:02:54Z

Interesting twist on the typical tower-defense genre. After a while it does begin to feel like a bit of a task to have to buy new batteries all the time though, but then again without that feature it wouldn't fit the theme too much. Nice work either way :)

Empire Building by Mac Dragoness 2017-08-02T10:13:08Z

Fun little management game. Short and sweet - perfect for a game jam  My only suggestion would be to name your zip file the name of your game - that way when downloading many games at a time I can tell which is game is which. Other than that really good job!

Ultimate by OnlySimple 2017-08-02T09:27:32Z

I liked the effort with the shaders used, but I felt the effects were a little too strong, namely the chromatic aberration and tv-effects. I also felt there could have been a little more contrast between the player and the background, and between the player and the enemies - all three kind of blended together. Nice work nonetheless :)

Exponential Maintenance Engineer by nintendoeats 2017-08-02T09:07:44Z

~~The windows link is broken! I can't play the game :(~~

**EDIT:** It works now :)

Exponential Maintenance Engineer by nintendoeats 2017-08-02T09:07:45Z

my comment got uploaded twice :see_no_evil: and I can't delete this one

Drain by morphine 2017-08-02T09:16:18Z

Nice quality voice overs! Reminds me of The Witness. The screen was a little too dark for me, I know that's kind of the point but I couldn't see where I was going. Nice work anyway :)

Titan LD39 Compo by NamInUz 2017-08-02T14:39:31Z

I like the idea, but I think the camera on the little man is too zoomed in, causing the player to be unable to tell where to go to defend their titan. It would be fun if I actually had enough time to get into a seat, but I didn't feel that. I also wasn't sure what the seat in the middle-left did, since left clicking seemed to have no action. Still, good work

Peak Oil by frostdragonliz 2017-08-02T10:40:51Z

Cool idea, not exactly my favorite genre, but interesting nonetheless. Nice clean graphics

Low Power Spacecraft by XavierSeal 2017-07-31T18:35:26Z

Nice entry! Nice short story to bring the player in, and good gameplay to keep them playing! I feel like it could have started off a bit easier, as right now as a beginner it is quite difficult. Really enjoyed it anyway though!

Geocentric Survival by Bewelge 2017-08-02T14:01:44Z

Very unique mechanic, well executed! This seems like a game that would take at least a few hours playing to fully master, which is impressive since it was made in 48 hours! Nice work

Prison Escape by stephen321 2017-07-31T18:04:20Z

Nice work! Very impressive to use C++ for your first Ludum Dare! Neat concept, and pretty well executed. I also liked the music. I maximized the game right away which caused some issues, maybe in future if you don't support widow resizing make sure the window can't resize. Otherwise great job!

SpaceReturn by Larx 2017-07-31T18:21:28Z

Neat concept! I liked the graphics, and the placement system seemed to work well. Gameplay could have been a bit more engaging, but good work nonetheless!

Pura The Robot by Ramkey 2017-08-02T09:33:48Z

I liked the animations, and the puzzles seemed well thought out and fully functional. Nice work!

Smash ball by Sivael 2017-08-02T09:50:01Z

Fun, physics-based mechanic! Not sure how it fits into the theme really, power management never really became something I had to consider. One thing I would recommend is naming your zip file with the name of your game, that way when downloading a bunch of games at a time I can still tell which is which. Good work overall!

Sleepy Orphan Simulator by Barney Cumming 2017-08-02T09:11:21Z

Very neat concept, executed very well too! Easy to learn, but challenging enough to keep my attention for a while. Great work :)

Dorgus Needs Power! by WillData 2017-08-02T09:23:14Z

Nice an juicy feel! It was unclear why pressing S didn't feed the guy my charges - I think you have to be on the ground and in front of him? but other than that it was a fun little game! There is one bug I came across nearly every time I played which is that the ground has no friction sometimes, so if you shoot you'll zip across the screen rapidly. Great work nonetheless! :)
