Really lovely little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/5I8aoDLW98E), if you’d like to take a look :)

@jupiter-hadley thanks for making the video! I really enjoyed watching it :D

Really love the graphics and the audio! Game is also fairly simple and easy to understand, yet its still pretty fun. Good job!

Very cute, nice pixel graphics. The trees take waaaaay too long to grow. I don't think I missed something there. The combination mechanic is a cool mechanic! The music is nice, but I thought the jumping sound was too loud and hard.

I was unable to create the bottle and water tree. I waited for long time but could not grow herb on the dirt tiles even if they were watered. When I see the screenshot I guess I missed a lot of things. The music / gfx / mood are really good on this game. congrats !

Nice game! I really enjoyed playing your game. You created cool mechanics of crafting new things. Quests make game more interesting and I wanted get them all. Unfortunately I didn't find the way to get diamond. Nice pixel arts and music. You could create more levels which would explain how to craft new things. It's small game so it's nice to find out it by yourself. Well done!!

Playing Arindama was a great experience. 2 playthroughs later - the second being over 40 days long - and I still wanted to move stuff around. I ran out of grass, had 2 chests lying around, and never got bottles nor the diamond, but I'm not disappointed in the slightest. A bit salty that I couldn't get everything, maybe, but I'm still impressed at how much got done with so little.

The presentation is great. Quests that give the player an idea about what to do, simple yet cool combination mechanics, and everything working in harmony, from sprites to music. By the end of my runs, the idol wasn't the only one that was happy :)

This is a great submission for the compo. I really hope that you decide to come back to this project, as it could benefit from an expansion. Maybe not make a larger world, but different worlds with different stuff to interact with. Limited resources and plenty of interactions could probably make for a lot of different combinations available, resulting in every level looking different from player to player.

I'll be telling my teammate to check this one as well. Good luck with the compo! I'm hoping this one does more than just fine :whale:

Awesome compo entry, feels really solid. I played for more than an hour, jumping around, trying stuff and building silly landscapes during a few playthroughs. Couldn't find the bottle though! Graphics are nice and polished, good pixel art with a superb palette. I'm sure you'll get really high ratings, be proud of this work!

This is a very nice entry. Especially for the Compo. I haven't played it at all, but I watched the video and then recommended it to my wife. Then I watched her play it for some 20 minutes. It was a nice experience even to only watch. Gonna try it myself to see in how many days I can reach the diamond.

The only issue I saw is that it's sometimes difficult to select exactly the one tile you want. Also the placement is difficult when you want to place it diagonally from your position. Other than that, it's very enjoyable.

Wrapping around is a cool "look-i-feel-and-i'm-not-dead" mechanic for a game like this one. Dying and respawning would, IMO, be frustrating.

All in all, well done.

I like this game a lot. It's a pretty relaxing, zen like experience. It sorta reminds me of skyblock in Minecraft the way you start off on this island and have to expand with only the resources you start with. I liked experimenting with all of the different block combinations to discover new crafting recipes. I will say that it was annoying how there's a limited supply of trees since grass is a finite resource. Because of this, I wound up using all of my wood before I made a bottle, so I had to reset a few times to get all of the quests. Getting stuck like that and having to reset can be really frustrating. I think it would help if grass would spread. If you were to expand upon this game, you'd probably want to make all of the resources renewable in some way. Also, the selection box was a bit finicky at times, making it difficult to select the blocks you want. Despite these issues, I enjoyed my time with this game greatly. I really dig the music. It's calm and relaxing, which fits the game's tone well. The visual aesthetic is also very nice. I think that this game has a lot of potential to be expanded upon, and this is a very great foundation. Excellent work!

This is definitely the best entry I've played thus far! Really great job all around - I loved the style and the simple, but unique main mechanic. Fantastic work :)

This is an amazing small minecraft like game. I was thinking about creating something like that but from top view. But my game turn out to be super simple.

Animations are great. You have to get used to controls. But then is so much fun finding what you can craft and how.

vladik-plays 2017-05-05 17:22

Very good game :) Impressive ;) Reminds a bit of minecraft... In 2D Here is my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/fixville

Really impressive compo entry ! Gameplay is really easy to get used to, graphics and animations are really nice and the Minecraft like idea is pretty smart ! The only thing is I get blocked at this state of the game, not knowing what I can craft together (I have the impression I tried everything I could...) :

Just found a small bug, when you place a block while falling down, there is a chance to place it on an already occupied place, having then several blocks on the same place. And you can also have the fruits floating in the air !

But once again, really solid entry, I liked playing it, and having a bit more hints on what we can craft from what would make it perfect !

Interesting game, could use some help in being able to find possible crafting items. I couldn't figure out how to make the bottle, water the tree (which I suspect uses the bottle), or make a diamond.

I got trapped in a bug. had a fruit fall on me while I was carrying something, couldn't drop the something and couldn't jump. glitch.png

It is a pretty nice game, graphics, audio and gameplay mixed together perfectly, very polished! I'm not sure if i missed something but it seemed that you can run out of resources, just like in a real world, kind a nice touch.

invader 2017-05-06 15:14

Cool game! Great by many merits and definitely 5/5 overall.

nuebomundo 2017-05-07 12:42

A incredibly inventive idea, the combination mechanic is simple yet so many possibilities arise with just a handful of items. I especially like small details like the infinite world (falling down and spawning at the top actually affects the gameplay, for the better!) or the extra reach when the player is in the middle of two tiles, so many right desitions in this entry!

After many, many tries, I got stuck forever trying to get the key, so I watched a video and completed that last part, finally reaching the statue (just so I'm not left with the bitter taste of defeat hahaha).

The only thing I can nitpick is the limited number of resources per play, in my first try I got to a dead end pretty early (at that time I didn't know it, obviously) and kept trying to combine new things to no avail.

nax-89 2017-05-09 02:51

EXCELLENT game!

mwcz 2017-05-10 00:46

OMG I love the Pixel graphics!! The music was great too! This game gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, great mood! The only critizism I have is that the controls aren't very intuitive, I kept wanting to use the mouse for crafting, but maybe that's because I'm use to minecraft.

fury 2017-05-10 01:59

Cute! Very impressive for a compo game! I like how fluid the movements are. I don't like the controls though. Very unconventional. Seriously cool though. Good job!

nofuel 2017-05-13 20:35

Really awesome game! Had a lot of fun playing it! Had a bit trouble finding the right things to craft togheter but it was fun finding these things out! Nice pixel art, cute animation! minor detail, I think the character moves a bit to fast. Overall a really good game!

philomory 2017-05-14 01:37

This is really neat! I like it a lot, and finally, after 95-ish days, made the statue.

My only real complaint is, it's _reeaaaal_ easy to run out of grass, and there is _very_ little to do with leaves (and fruit, eventually). My final board had so many leaves and fruit, I had to rebuild the floor using leaves, and ended up dropping so many fruit off the edge they got stuck on the sky and built a stack on nothingness. Which was actually pretty cool, but probably wasn't intended.

Anyway, this is great! Kudos to you!

Best compo entry i've seen so far - It can (and should) work as a full game outside ldjam scope.

seconddimension 2017-05-20 13:20

Nice entry, I enjoyed playing around and trying to build stuff. I managed to figure out some of the recipes, and it was nice to have that bit of discovery. If you let the first tree bloom fruit then there was no way back that I could see? I wish there had been controller support, as others have said trying to get the blocks in the right place could be a bit frustrating.
