I like the style/graphics of your game :) The game over is a bit jarring though, some transition would be nicer, but overall good job for your first time!

The game in general was beautiful.
So much going on :D the graphics looks really nice. Maybe you could highlight the player character a bit more to make it more readable.
Cool style, and cool gameplay! Couple concerns though: enemies just coming in like that at once feels weird, maybe have spawns in the corners instead. Second, aiming was just plain wierd; when you went in a diagonal (two keys pressed at once), the last key you pressed wasn't always the way you were facing.
Overall, however, Ultimate is still a really good game.
I enjoyed the idea of what it could be but the movement and shooting was locked to 4 directions not eight making it very jarred throughout the game, I enjoyed the audio it was very retro but allot of developers do that similar style now a days and the music for me didn't reflect the actual game play. The graphics were very cool and inspired the theme but it was very hard to look at after a few minutes with a bit more tuning maybe getting a friend to play test it I think this can be a good game but either way good job!
I will try to improve the game to make it more enjyable. So stay tuned.
This was good, though I noticed some lag on changing directions that didn't work for me. It looks and sounds very good, though! I had an early strategy of just sweeping back and forth and firing that worked for a bit, but then waves got too large and I got engulfed. Oh well!
I really liked the music and aesthetic!
Like @incobalt, I thought the lag on changing directions was pretty annoying. I also felt like there was no reasonable way to dodge the enemy bullets and that it was hard to tell how I'm doing.
Some suggestions: - Have more saturated colors for the player, enemy, and bullets so that they stand out more - Increase the friction so that the controls feel tighter - Make the enemy AI easier to understand so the player feels like they can predict what is going to happen and avoid them.
Very nice for your first LD game! I enjoyed the aesthetic of it and I liked the idea a good bit. I also quite enjoyed the retro feel. Though, I felt that the screen shake was a little jarring, and the sound was a bit loud. Overall though, nice job, boyo!
Interesting game, the aiming was a little odd, maybe you could shoot towards the mouse? Also, the player looked a little bit much like the enemies but other than that I had fun with this one and I especially liked the effect when you picked up energy, very satisfying. Really cool! :v:
Your game got flagged by my AVG Antivirus :( Windows build.
I liked the effort with the shaders used, but I felt the effects were a little too strong, namely the chromatic aberration and tv-effects. I also felt there could have been a little more contrast between the player and the background, and between the player and the enemies - all three kind of blended together. Nice work nonetheless :)
Cool game even if I found it a little too difficult at the beggning. The system of aiming is weird and not enough "free", that is hard to shoot an ennemy without charge it or get damage because they charge us. Cool sreen effect though, and the music is not too bad. Congrats and keep coding :)
The design is very standard, but it could work if everything else was spot on. Unfortunately the controls leave a lot to be desired.
Usually in top-down shooters you can shoot independent of your movement. This can be achieved by using the mouse for completely free aiming direction, or by using the WASD keys for movement and the arrow keys for shooting in 4 (or 8) directions.
I'm so used to such input schemes that going back to Atari-aged "run towards enemy and hope for the best" controls is simply not acceptable.
Neat graphics effects though. Solid effort.
This game filter that it has is so cool, it makes it different. Controls and movement could be better but it's a nice work for a compo. In this case I would chanfe the color of the player, cuz when there are lots of enemies it's hard to focus on your arrow.
Good job, though :)
I love the old-TV look, however I found the aiming too difficult and the waves seemed to spawn even if the previous wave hadn't finished, however you did a good job
My antivirus software (avast) though the .exe was a something bad... Just wanted to let you know, others might have the same problem.
Nice entry, good idea. nice AI. but control reallly hard :\
I think the ship should switch instantly according to the last pressed key, or direction of movement (when you release one key but still pression another). Other than that, its really cool!
