I really enjoyed the concept and thought it was overall fairly impressive
I think its good that you leave the game to kind of 'click' in the beginning for the player. I almost gave up just before realizing one solution to the first puzzle and I felt really accomplished to have not been "just another robot". I didn't beat the game, I got stuck on the fourth or fifth level but I enjoyed it. I would prefer if there were a way to turn off the text to speech of the narrator as it can be a bit distracting especially when you might die and they begin to overlap.

This was probably the funniest game I have ever played for ludum dare! Every ludum dare there is "sarcastic narrator" game, but the comments this time were above par! The graphics were ok, but I doubt you were going for great graphics. I would also like to ask why you opted out of the audio category? I would of given you a pretty good score even though the only audio was the narrator... But seriously, awesome job!

@devorc Yeah, not many people actualy like the narator, aldo, I find him really funny... That's why I disabled voting on audio. And yeah, there is no music soo ... Anyways, thanks on the kind words ! @willdata Thanks on the kind words. If you are stuck on a level, you can read the guide to win the game on the http://forums.indiegamer.com/threads/pura-the-robot-all-puzzles-solved.60810/ , if you want to :D

Great little game you made there! I loved the tts narrator more than I care to admit. The only thing I feel obliged to whine about is the lack of AZERTY support, which made playing this game with WASD awkward for me :p Didn't keep me from enjoying the game though!

@snowy Glad you enjoyed it! I'll definitely implement AZERTY support next jam!
Loved the humor and being able to leave body parts on the floor. Pushing the boxes could be a little smoother though.

@dankypants Yeah, I made few mistakes with the boxes ... First I did not allow them to go trough doors, and second, the funky controls. Thanks on the feedback !
Very fun, dropping off body parts was fantastic. Box moving a little shaky but i enjoyed myself.
Had a lot of trouble trying to move the box next to the red laser after the tutorial. Couldn't really do it without dying.

Very impressive mechanics and effects. Had a blast figuring out the puzzles. Just a little thing that annoyed me (only because I am OCD about certain things). When the narrator says "Censo...", you could have made them say 'Censor' and cut out the end in an audio manipulation program so he isn't saying "Censu". Apart from that, a really good game!

Wow, this is a pretty involved puzzle game. You had me at "you need one more arm to move this". Great!
Likes: - nice muted color palette - so many interactions - great use of text to speech for the mood - intelligent puzzle - dialogue that's really monologue
Try differently: - the fireballs have rather greedy collision detection - a death animation would give it more meaning. - when I take the head off, I think the collision box should get smaller.
Overall: - really complex title - I think I am in love with Pura - my day is better for having played this game!
Thank you! :dog:

@pixelformedstudios Wow, thanks on the advice. Didn't think of that and it's such a cool idea! @thygrrr Thank's a lot on the detailed review, means a lot. I will try to fix everything suggested in the post jam version hopefully. Im glad your dad tried it :D

Definitely had some great positives, good job basing most of the game around the single puzzle mechanic, it was fun to see how it was adapted to different puzzle. The narrator was definitely very well written and a very welcome feature, sometimes I found he would talk over himself but not that big a deal.
I did find the fireball dodging was a bit frustrating, the hitboxes were just a bit iffy and to me it felt a bit out of place compared to the rest of the game.
Definitely enjoyed my time playing it.

Nice game! Reminded me a lot of portal. Very cool! The puzzles where great and the art style was cool. The dialog that was going on was also a very nice addition, so overall, very good job!

Interesting puzzle games, with thought out challanges and the mechanic of sacrificing your body parts is great, but the fact that boxes always move diagonaly no matter what you do drove me nuts. I know what a bitch physics and collision detection can be so no hard feelings, this is great one.

The concept is really interesting. If you dedicate more time, and make enough quality art and polish the ideas, I think you'll have a good game worth selling in Steam of something. Good work.
I like it! Funny narrator, fun game, challenging puzzles. I agree about the hitboxes, it could be a bit more fair, and when I dropped the parts sometimes they'd orient a way I wanted and other times they didn't, so I had to keep picking up and dropping them till they were right, was kind of inconvenient. Definitely a great concept though! I don't see how this had anything to do with the theme, as far as I could tell the only time you lost power was getting hit. Also, I got stuck behind a door at one point, and there wasn't (that I could find) a button to restart level! D: I really wanted to beat it! Ooooh well. Good game! :)

@modalmodule Sorry about the problems you ran into. The time did not give me a chance to make the game any better. About getting stuck: if you are stuck in the door for 10 miliseconds it will automatically teleport you to the start. Matching with the theme was is loosing power by droping parts. Since if you drop any part, you lose physical power, witch means you can't do certain stuff. Thanks for the feedback!

Cool game, dood!! Microsoft Sam is perfect for narrator's role)) Stuck on random shoot gun for a while. But complete it later ;)

Alone and only 16 years old, you really found your place ! Your puzzle were very nice, good work !
try to adjust collision box of the fireball !
Also, i'm not sure that pushing the blocks is really what is fun in your game, so maybe an input to take the item would be better. But if you want to keep it and then challenge movement, try to work on that push mechanic cuz it's a little bit laborious already. (What you can do, is to "grid" the movement, like old pokemon for exemple, you will have a better control on your level design)
But wow, i'm sure you'r going to be a great game dev in future, keep on working, if you are really passionate, you can go on gamasutra.com one of the best site for developpement and design.
I understand the desire of making some scenario etc, but don't loose too much time on it, if you want to improve your game, because it's not the most important pole of this kind of game ! ;)

Excellent. I like the kind of game where you have to discover the gameplay through mini-puzzle. Really good. Keep moving forward.

Narration is most certainly cool and you can interact with almost everything. I had tons of fun playing the game which after playing many LD39's titles is really something. Good job and keep going!

Neat game, I like the beam-interrupting mechanic, especially that you can just drop you body parts to block them. The game going dark when you "lose your head" is a cool touch!
I didn't get very far, that shooter bouncing up-and-down quickly foiled me MANY times. It would have been good to have a beam to shut it off.
Good work! :)

Good entry! I found the controls a little swimmy, very hard to push blocks where I wanted to, sometimes just walked right through them and such. The puzzles were interesting. The narrator's robot voice was a nice touch!

Fun game! I really enjoyed the puzzle design and the way it worked with the "leaving body parts" mechanic.
I found the controls a bit tricky to get into position but stuck at it and succeeded after vapourising poor Pura who knows how many times just so they could rip a limb off at the right position to block the laser. The guns ultimately were my undoing but there was always a feeling of "surely NEXT time I can beat them" ;)

Interesting puzzle game.
The puzzles were a bit too action- /timing-focused for my taste, when combined with having limited lives, since it means that you can have solved the puzzle, but still be forced to replay it again and again, until your timing is perfect.
However, the narrator was entertaining, and the fact that you have to leave parts of yourself in the level in order to solve the puzzles, was a fun and unexpected feature! The graphics were quite good as well.
Nice work!

I'm here to pay back the kindness you showed me.
Your game is very original for a puzzle game! I especially liked the dropping of body parts. Never seen that before. I thought that the boxes weren't needed anymore at that point, wrong! You made those boxes necessary once again.
Some very ingenious stuff in there! You only need to explain some things some more. For instance, it wasn't immediately clear that the sensors were delayed. That proved to be the key in the second intro level. I finished the game regardless.
Of course, the humor helped too! Some funny dialogue here and there. The accidental grammar mistakes actually made the dialogue even funnier.
Good and, more importantly, complete entry!

A great entry ! :) Very funny game with this sarcastic narrator directly imported from GladOs, and concept is pretty fine too. The only thing that got me down a bit was the physics of the boxes, but i managed to finish it anyway ! It's actually a very serious entry for a compo game, you can be proud ! Well done ! :)
