great game, thanks
Beautiful graphics, music and atmosphere. Terrain collision is very nicely done and allows for some special moves. I'd say biggest con is I don't see any good relation with LD38 theme, apart from map edge teleporting you from one end to another, which kind of makes it a small world I guess (though it took me a lot of walking around until I found a boss).
Graphics, audio, mood - all that is great, but I don't know what to do. I collected about 30+ heart things I still have no clue what the goal is.
@dennyrocketdev The goal is just to reach the end of the level. I understand, that layout maybe, ahem, a bit confusing, but actually you just have to proceed to the right till the end. And then there will be transition to the boss fight.
The atmosphere of total abandonment and world destruction which is told through level design makes the game fun to play and gives somewhat of an energetic feel.
Too bad you didn't have any time left to finish your entry properly, a good ending after the boss fight would be great. I understand that there's already a boss death animation present, but it simply feels like it's not enough for the player.
Nice background music and style, but I don't really have much incentive to keep playing if all I can do is fall and hope to land on something. Maybe making the platforms closer together or zooming the camera out further would help that.
Lets talk about that boss. That was a dirty move right at the end, after all the work I put in. Shame on you! I love it! Good Job! P.S the music did not load on the game no mater how many times I ran it. I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it but the music would not play on my computer for whatever reason. But the comments seem to like it so I'll still give you a good score for it.
I love the graphics and audio, has a very nice 80s vibe. The gameplay felt abit lacking and the controls seemed strange (space would have been better as jump). Good effort though!
Very nice esthetics and the "pixel-based" collision. The scale vs jump height / distance felt a bit weird. Got the hang of it eventually, but as others have pointed out - the level design didn't immediately give any hints on where to go next. I think the first level could be shortened a bit and instead adding a second level with new environment or hazard to give it more "meaning".
Nice game. The collision is very good. As other people have pointed out, the map is a bit confusing, but it's not hard to find the path. Cheers for the team.
Amazing game the graphics and audio were stellar and the motion and collisions felt smooth. The death felt a little punishing towards the end but I suppose that is the way its meant to be would have loved to see some shortcuts like from the block you can only get to by dropping from the sky. (Went up there expecting something) it would offer a sort of checkpoint that the user feels clever for finding. All in all amazing work for such a short time frame!
Wow, you definitely put together a nice game. Your use of audio and effects is amazing. The game is immersive and the scenery and sprites fit together so well. I love the atmosphere, it makes me interested in the world and how it fell into such a state. I'm going to go against the grain and say I did like that you didn't give any indication of where to go at the beginning. It feels more open this way. This is just my opinion though.
I enjoyed the whole game, but there were points when the collisions were off and I got stuck once or twice during the boss fight. There is no indication of danger while failing and the lack of direction could leave players confused in the beginning, again though I didn't mind this. You might want to add something letting the player know to collect hearts. As others have said not too sure how it fits in with the theme, but nonetheless it still is a good game.
The boss was difficult, but I managed to finish and I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed this entry. Great job!
It was not bad, i like the atmosphere and overall feels. Kind of wish the gameplay was not that simple and that it was closer to the theme.
