Very fun, but also a bit stressing. A little more time per room would be nice. Otherwise great work. The music is really stuck in my head now :)
Pretty pixel art and fast pacing. Great game.
Fun, and difficult game. I liked the visuals and "feel". (I also appreciated gamepad support)
Some thoughts (both positive and constructive): * I liked the feel of running out of fuel and having to resort to classic platforming. Doing that under stress of a timer was also fun. (sometimes) * I didn't realize there was a death timer the first few times I played. Amplifying timer audio/visuals when it's low might help. * I liked the level design, and that the player has (up to) three different routes to choose from. There were definitely moments where I would approach something and say "I don't want to go that way" and turn to fall to the lower level, haha * The fact that it chooses rooms at random made it hard to tell how I was progressing. I never did figure out what triggers the store. Or what the big back arrow meant. Are there checkpoints? Or do you start all over when you die? Conveying information like that to the player somehow might help. Even if it's just a progress bar/map at the bottom showing how many "rooms in" you are. (But the arrow signs definitely helped me understand the segments and when you get more time.) * The game is definitely "unfair" (read: intentionally difficult), but memorizing how to best get through certain segments (with the most gold possible!) was really fun. * The random rooms and confusing progress markers made memorizing segments challenging. Dangling the carrot of progress in front of me (e.g. progress bar map) would have had me playing longer. * I made it to the store a few times, but couldn't get much further than that. Which was sad, because the levels after the store were new interesting.
Thanks!
LOVE THE GAME! SO beautyful so funny! hahahaha its a pity its so hard.
@arden Thanks for your awesome feedback! I take all your idea for a post jam version :D Yes, it's certainly missing dialogues to explain some points. The store appear after 4 screen  The arrows are supposed to guide the player but they are not clear. There is no check point and you start from the beginning. Maybe start at the end of the first room can be more explicit. Yes some levels needs polish and the difficulty need to be ajusted. Also maybe put the shop earlier and add more coins and rearrange the levels orders.
Thanks for all!
Awesome game! Not much criticism to do, it's very fun. THe only thing I could say is that the flamethrougher is too weak. Even if you buy it it's not worth wasting the fuel when you can just jump the enemies and it's less risky than getting close to kill them. If it shot bullets or something like that, even if it was too OP it would be fine since it's pretty hard to get 19 coins
Very fun game! Very hard! Like others I was confused as to which way to go, and where I respawned. I think I had a bug when I changed a screen, and then (I think) I was stuck off screen and I couldn't do anything, though the jump noise happened when I jumped, and when the clock timed out I went back to normal mode.
You guys did an awesome job with this one! It feels great to play, and I love both the graphics and the audio (the dynamic music was very nice). I didn't manage to get too far - maybe I was a bit too hesitant to use the jetpack? - but I loved what I saw. Very well done!
I really like the artstyle of the game. I was a little confused by the progression through the areas though, is it randomly generated? It felt a little like every time I restarted I was just starting at a different place so I was a bit confused by that. Having the three different levels to navigate through was really interesting though :) Great Job!
Love it! Music and graphics are awesome and the controls feel very nice. Then, as @arden, I died a few times because of the death timer without noticing it. It's a bit hard at the beginning, but, once you know the different kind of rooms it became very 'smooth' and fun! Great game guys !
Really enjoyed this - had a Rogue Legacy vibe to the level layout that I liked, and the jetpack added a lot on top of that. I do wish the timer was more of an optional bonus kind of thing - while it was fun to move quickly through the levels, sometimes I just wanted to explore them a bit. Maybe something like a special item at the store that is unavailable if time runs out before you get there? Either way, great job!
Sad to say I never found the hot air balloon, but I did play for a good long while and enjoyed it. The progress markers did seems a little random (well, hard to spot anyway) to me but learning the level layout was fun. I liked how fast paced the game becomes once you have run some sections a few times. The jet-pack makes platforming more forgiving which I think is why I liked this a lot more than traditional 2d platformers. The graphics were quite pretty. The music was really catchy and definitely added to the stress of managing my time. Overall, good game - I just wish for more checkpoints.
Is it possible to beat this game? I tried many times and could never find said hot air balloon. Still a very enjoyable game. Impressive that you went for procedural generation in a game jam! It worked out though, this is a nice entry. Good job!
Fun game, has a great style and the amount of content is impressive. I wish there was a little more time to play around with though.
Very fun, although I never quite managed to get very far. The tutorial was very helpful.
So hard, but really great! The stress level was just right. I died all the time, so it kind of seemed not too bad to die... I respawned in a different room every time I died, so it was really difficult to figure out where I was, or if there was even supposed to be a static map.
Very fun but very hard, the timer is very tight. The game plays really well, I like the graphics and the music. The amount of content and level is great and the shopkeeper is a real plus.
Good job ! =D
Great game. Love the aesthetic too.
I can't believe that this game was made in 72 hours! There is so many nice mechanics in this game, especially the random room generation. The challenge is very good! I probably tried 15 times (approximately 25 minutes) until finish it! I only wish that the end screen was your time.
Aside this, my mains complaints are about the needles that are hard to spot and the game over screen that shows too early and sometimes isn't easy to notice the reason of my death.
The graphics and music are amazing! Overall: Very good game!
Couldn't beat the game but loved trying and trying ! The game is hard but great !
the story reminds me of a character I once played during a LARP :D
it's a really cool entry, I really liked the shop, seemed so out of place but it was such a cool addition, I nearly missed it! I'm terrible in these games, I don't even need a timer to make it more challenging, so I didn't go too far unfortunately. So I hope I didn't miss other stuff. The music is gorgeous, with the accordeon and bells, beautiful! Did you use any virtual instruments?
One remark: sometimes the controls would block a little and the character would only jump up and not up-right.
