LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Perchance to dream by Anne Ogborn 2021-05-04T22:29:01Z

Really love the storyline and evolving plots. Was also funny! Great job with the soundtrack although I had some issues getting it to play at the outset. It might be cool to add more abstract floating graphics in a future build that are relevant to the current question/options.

LD48: Down the Rabbit Hole by LMB 2021-05-04T21:57:43Z

Really impressed by the complexity given the time frame! I loved the humor, intuitive controls, and oil-visibility dynamic.

As far as constructive feedback goes, I also would like to have more visual/audio feedback when taking damage, audio feedback when the timer was getting low (not sure if this was in the game and I just couldn't hear it??? I played the browser version), and stats for how much I've upgraded the pick and attack strength (some way of keeping track of how much ore I've spent on each). I think the level and resource generation could be a bit more consistent for the first level, as well as the bug spawning (at least x amount within x squares of the player) for the first level.

Overall I thought it scaled well and I really liked the bartering system and trade off between having to leave the ship vulnerable to attack in order to get more resources. I thought the time dynamic helped the levels scale well. I wish the levels kept going! Great job overall! Fit the theme perfectly.

Below the Ocean by Ismael Rodriguez 2021-05-05T03:13:02Z

Really loved the tether mechanic, the pixel art, the color palette, the sfx for jumping and grabbing jewels, the music, the dance at the end. The yellow squares were a cool addition, although I almost got stuck trying to get one of them.

I love the game as is but here are some ideas for the future: - adding enemies - moving platforms - bubble streams that change currents / direction - jumping on the chain as it's moving??? if it's gold / taught? - pause - high scores

I liked that you could tab through the instructions, and how consistent and polished the music and graphics were. Super fun and addicting game! Great job!

Operation: Sub-Deep by BatJak03 2021-05-04T22:38:36Z

OMG I love this game!!! Great job whoever did the sfx and music. I *love* the menu-aquarium idea, whoever thought of that-- kudos to you. The controls felt really fun, and the coins were really satisfying to collect. I appreciated the red exclamation points that warned when the fish were coming. The pixel art was also fantastic!

Somewhere Below by TheAxe316 2021-05-04T22:53:14Z

The graphics are incredible! The ambience was very complex and fitting. The sound design was great and balanced, giving useful feedback to the player.

I do wish there'd be more notice for enemies or like a more noticeable proximity sound since the visual indicators are a bit difficult to perceive (which I think works for the game).

Super unique aesthetic, very polished overall-- great job!

Sinking Sub by DaSpikeyBoss 2021-05-04T22:21:51Z

THIS GAME IS SO ADDICTING. Love clicker games like these, great implementation. I liked the low oxygen dynamic and upgrades system, although I felt it was weighted towards the pressure upgrades more than anything. Great job for a 48 hour game jam. I liked the shaders/graphics on the fish.

Here are some ideas and things I'd love to see in a future build: - a more translucent low health visual overlay - a slower acceleration upgrade option for the speed at which the sub is falling - a low pass filter applied to the fish clicking sound - a longer loop of music

Overall I really loved it! Greate work!

Into The Depth by Szymon OGD 2021-05-05T03:31:25Z

The ambience was really nice and appropriate, and the sharks / pink creatures gave me the creeps! Although I did kind of felt bad shooting the marine life... and wasn't entirely sure if we were supposed to? I really liked the mechanics of moving the sub, and it was satisfying to land missiles. I found the marine life proximity/pursuit dynamic to be challenging. I also really liked how there were several different stats (oxygen, life, and missiles) and the difficulty of getting them felt appropriate. There were some times when I felt they were a little too densely spawned. I didn't really need the missile ones as often as I eventually just started to avoid the sharks/marine life.

Some ideas for future builds: - add reverb to the sfx to make them feel like they're in the same creepy underwater cavern - special powerups that increase the max amount of life you can get - points added or deducted for killing the sharks/creatures - rocks and other obstacles that would need to be obliterated with the missile - a weapon upgrade that allows you to shoot missiles in 3 different directions - a more realistic particle system for explosions

Overall great job with this game! Fit the theme perfectly :)
