Fantastic job guys! Just played it a while and really love the concept and style! Is it made with Unity?

turbo-hermit 2017-04-28 10:23

It's so well-polished =O

raphael 2017-04-28 11:21

I love the graphics!

I love the gameplay!

I love the sound!

Guys, I think we found a **winner** here! :anchor:

gertjohnny 2017-04-28 20:16

@marc-grabow it sure is!

drazil100 2017-04-29 01:28

While I didn't spend nearly enough time on this as I should have as this game takes a good amount of learning to figure out all the mechanics (and I say this as a compliment in that there is so much to do and not to say this game is in any way bad at explaining what you need to do). This has to easily be one of the most polished entries I have played all jam and has fantastic art, fantastic programming, fantastic writing, and fantastic sound design. To top it all of this also managed to be a freaking AMAZING take on the theme of this jam. All in all this game is a solid 11/10. This is the best game I have played all jam!

kevin-barrios 2017-04-29 02:29

Amazing presentation, great job. I'm really impressed by the attention to detail; the limited palette of muted colors, the responsive controls, the fluid motion when activating the panels, and the ama-azing sound design and that's just what I remember. Then you have a concise gameplay loop with a bunch of humor thrown in too. Really really cool, keep it up ya'll.

jebouin 2017-05-01 05:13

Even if you can't see the outside of the ship, this game is so immersive! I played for 45 minutes and haven't finished it yet, you managed to make an impressive amount of content for a jam game. The controls are unusual but really fun to figure out, I like the minimlist art style and the sounds are on point. Awesome game overall!

micahcowan 2017-05-01 06:12

I am so in awe of this game. It's an excellent example of how sometimes more restrictive controls (such as being forced to turn the wheels for a simple 2d location) can enhance the fun. The sounds are awesome and immersive. The crappy, money-grubbing company adds to the fun :) Congratulations!

urban-logic-games 2017-05-01 08:10

I have to admit going in I assumed it would be a bit complicated, but it's actually really intuitive and all the various mechanics work really well together. Add to that the graphic and audio polish and it amounts to one of the most impressive LD entries I've ever played. Could totally see this becoming a full game. Well done team.

randomhuman 2017-05-01 10:47

This is a really slick game with a great atmosphere and feel. It actually really feels like you are piloting something weighty and unwieldy (but not so unwieldy it is not fun :D), and I think that contributes to the sense of crampedness and oppression. It is also, however, incredibly intuitive! The minimalistic art and palette are really effective as well.

drazil100 2017-05-01 11:22

Of the 74 or so games I have played there were many good ones. If I had to pick a single game to root for though it would be this one. I have just come back to give my rating for your game. I hope you do well and good luck!

gaffa 2017-05-01 15:04

Well, to put simply, this is the best game yet i've seen on LD38. Good job man!

richard-michael-smith 2017-05-01 23:52

Wow.

Just wow.

This is truly excellent and, as others have said: incredibly well polished. I could have played it for hours but I really should play some other entries. This is, in my opinion, commercially viable in its current form. Remarkable work!

impbox 2017-05-02 07:50

This one blew me away! So beautiful, atmospheric and immersive. I was under the printer's spell. I hope you guys keep working on this and make it a full game. Depth seemed to be underutilised, maybe just get rid of it unless you're going to use it fully? Also food and toilet usage was cute but didn't seem to impact gameplay.

2017-05-02 09:39

This is the easiest feedback of all: Amazing game, superb job!

deathstorm 2017-05-02 10:12

Wow pretty nice game

Really Really good job.

This project has some potential with further improvements. :)

duzzondrums 2017-05-02 12:40

I really love it! The idea of exploring a bigger environment where you can't really see what's going on is really exciting. It creates an amazing atmosphere, and it's a great exploration of the theme too. Art and audio are top notch. I'd love to see it expanded with more story elements, and building on the tension that's here already. Awesome job!

awpteamoose 2017-05-02 12:48

Incredible, straight 5's, amazing how much quality stuff you managed to put in.

ooku 2017-05-03 13:54

Wow, you guys are crazy :) Nice job and thanks for the experience!

axoona 2017-05-03 14:47

I liked the idea and the cynism. I enjoyed the mood and the sound design (which contributes to the mood greatly). Graphics aren't great but are just enough ;)

on the bad side, I found the the mission mechanics of "do this do that don't contest" not very fun (although I admit it goes very well with the game idea and oppresive mood) but fortunately it doesn't last last too long

awesomealliterationalliance 2017-05-03 19:27

you guys deserve a cookie ( a fancy cookie with sprinkels!) very innovative, atmospheric and complex. You made perfect use of the art style and sound design. The way you introduced all the mechanics was very effective and well paced. Not gonna lie, that is impressive! ;)

sean-s-leblanc 2017-05-04 00:41

This was a really neat entry! The humour sprinkled throughout the instructions was definitely the best part, and the audio did a particularly good job of reinforcing the atmosphere. Unfortunately, I found the actual gameplay got tedious pretty quickly. It's a bit hard to count that as a negative given that the tasks being kinda boring plays into the idea of being forced to do this job day in and day out, but it did make it harder to get into; a number of times while playing I thought to myself "OK, have I seen all it has to offer now, or is there going to be new stuff after I do this next thing?"

Few minor gripes: - first mission required docking + unloading cargo, but the mechanics for that were only explained in the second mission - map feels a bit too straightforward, especially since there's a depth control - character's climb animation plays at top/bottom of ladder

fylipp 2017-05-04 10:10

Loved the game. This will certainly be one of the best entries.

palemachine 2017-05-05 08:36

Awe-struck by the amount of polish and the wealth of content put into this. The mix of Papers, Please style interaction with the sort of limited information controls from Duskers works perfectly, the visuals are simple, clean and atmospheric. I want to particularly praise the sound designer, every sound is gorgeous and I loved the weird noises coming when **someone** unloads your cargo and how the sonar activation sound and various sounds given off by different objects found by the sonar are all different notes in the same scale, so they play next each other nicely, slightly reminding of the masterful sound design of Mini Metro. Awesome entry all around, I seriously hope you win this LD!

lozzadawg 2017-05-07 05:50

What a game, firstly, the look and feel of the game is insane, the ominous sounds of the submarine fit so well with the gloomy look and small somewhat depressing living space (I mean 7 years, poor guy). The 'free' birthday meal was hilarious, i loved it. The way the way the messages were received with the printer like generation of text is so well done, the squeaking sound when the wheels are turned is such a nice touch. Defiantly the best game I've seen for any Ludum Dare, and it's in with a massive chance to win this one.

emile 2017-05-07 09:07

Really enjoyed TheDeep, happily lost at least an hour of work to this

takusan 2017-05-09 13:31

First of all, that company really need to get their shit together, starting with free meals and oxygen readings.

But the game... This is a great game! Right form the start to the "7 years isn't really that long, you know?" (btw, again, screw the company)

Very polished, sound really makes the atmosphere stand out. And the mechanics, oh boy. I really love how well it works together, and how enjoyable it turns out, not to mention that you managed to be consistent with it even in the game description.

You create affordance really well, all interfaces are very intuitive to use and *really* help to make the game immersive as a whole. Navigating blindly trhough leviathans, eating gods know what, getting strange telex every now and then... brilliant.

This really reminds me of the vibe the updated version of MotherLoad had (the game itself is vaguely similar when it comes to base concept, but that's it, so no other point of comparison aside from atmosphere) - something creepy beneath, and almost surreal on the surface. Who's the company, who lives in the habitats, what does it all loo like, what's happening?

So far I couldn't find anything wrong with it, so I assume a hellish amount of work went into developing it. The only 'issue' I'd have is that when I loaded up on minerals and went to sleep, cargo was empty in the morning - but that's actually also understandable and I refuse to believe that it's a bug. It's the company who treats its contractors like crap, they stole my cargo.

Impressive work. Really impressive.

Leaving my rating for you, you five-star bastards. Well deserved. Cheers!

P.S but please, pretty please develop it further, we need more story :D

bemmu 2017-05-09 14:25

This honestly doesn't even feel like a Ludum Dare game, more like something I would have expected buying from Steam!

BEST LD38 GAME SO FAR!!! really nailed it! the animation, simplistic graphics, audio, story, gameplay, everything is great! except one minor detail, I see no reason for food or toilet I have no food indicator. you probably ran out of time I'm guessing. but still, this is THE BEST GODDAMN GAME SO FAR!!!

recursor 2017-05-09 15:16

This is such a great use of the theme. There is nowhere that you world could feel smaller than in a submarine for 7 years. The sound effects and graphics are excellent. I love all how the sub's controls and various systems are controlled by physical cranks and levers and the do matrix printer is gold. This is the best JAM game I've played so far. Excellent work!

thendash 2017-05-09 16:43

Fantastic! Graphics and audio are superb, simple but very atmospheric. I really enjoyed interacting with the machines, it felt sort of like The Oil Blue.

kroute 2017-05-09 16:48

I have nothing to add to what the others said : this is truly an amazing game and this is impressive that you could do that in 72h. Hats off.

zaibakk 2017-05-09 19:34

WOW! Simply amazing! This is the best game I've tried so far from this Ludum! What a great game! It's complete of everything, really a finished game, I think I would buy it from Steam if it was on it.. please continue this game and release it! Amazing job guys! :)

pyokoanarogue 2017-05-09 20:29

... , you guys ... really... made it. this is an extremely nicely realized idea. just , wow. this has heart and fine work mixed into it. kudos times a million.

kirenio 2017-05-11 08:21

This is so great and well polished! I've absolutely loved the atmosphere. Simply one of the best games this LD and for sure the most polished one!

themadstrauss 2017-05-11 18:32

Great game. The game looks like a finished game. Everything is smooth, the idea is great. I share the opinion of all the others. Congrats! Completely amazing

steve 2017-05-13 13:30

Awesome work! I stopped playing after 15 minutes as I felt like the game was starting to repeat itself and I wasn't sure it had any more to offer (if it did I'm sad I stopped as I would have liked to have seen some closure to the little story you created here), but what I did play of it I thought was all round wonderful, well done!

dunin 2017-05-16 15:57

What an incredible game! I love everything, the immersive sounds, the "another world" like graphics, and the way all the things are do (from narration with printer until smart screen shake...). It's an incredible work! My only complain would be that the restart-end was a bit disappointing, but because all the rest was perfect I waited something perfect too for the end...

(and I don't speak about the title screen, I love the title screen...)

2017-05-17 23:01

One of the best games I've played for this Ludum Dare. Really liked the atmosphere and mood you guys have created. All the game mechanics work well with the theme, a very polished entry.

atmospherium 2017-05-17 23:09

Wow, this was insanely impressive. Incredibly immersive, incredibly polished - everything from the gameplay to the art to the audio really meshed. It unfolded a bit too slowly for my taste, but I can't fault you for that when you did everything else so right. This is about as good of an LD as I've ever seen.

You guys nailed the sense of isolation and claustrophobia (having to hit the sonar to have any idea what's around you is a brilliant way to handle the navigation system). Great work!

drtizzle 2017-05-18 20:17

Well...where should I start? This is great! The audio is on point, everything squeaks and creaks, and fits the overall style very well. Visuals are perfect. A lot of detail, but not too much so you can fill a lot of stuff in for yourself. It seems overwhelming in the beginning, but after 2 minutes I knew where I could find everything. Controls are fluid and playful. I really felt like I was locked up in this vessel. There was only one thing that annoyed me...the events that made me lose money. I get that the company is crappy, but it feels unfair to lose money when you are following orders.

Best LD game I played...ever!!!

seconddimension 2017-05-20 12:25

This is close to perfect really, everything was so well executed. I'm a huge fan of the audio design especially, the sonar pings were lovely, the ladders and creaks and machinery all sounded great. I liked how tactile all the various control systems were too, whilst staying very responsive. Amazing work

joemid 2017-05-20 20:11

Amazing game. At about 800 credits I got docked real bad. Started working toward -credits, wondering if it might all end. No such luck. Finally did it. Regret it. ;D Thank you and congrats!

takusan 2017-05-22 19:41

Hey, straight at the top overall - well deserved! Cheers, I had so much fun with this!

joshykc 2017-05-23 10:25

Really clean and awesome looking art, intriguing and atmospheric world and gameplay. I was able to understand how things works pretty quickly without any tutorial, that was pretty damn good.

2017-05-23 12:48

awesome work for the audio. How to create stress with no indications but sound. The leviathan behavior is amazing great job.

Amazing game! Played it all the way to opening the door in one sitting.

I was a little disappointed by a lack of an ending. Even if it was something simple, like the water rushes in and you drown... Or something more complex like you were never really underwater in the first place, in some social experiment. But just restarting felt like a bit of a cop-out.

Still--amazing work, people!
