Awesome graphics. Loving the colors. Fluid gameplay, although the camera moves a bit too harsh when switching direction, makes it a bit difficult to see what's going on.

Awesome graphics. Loving the colors. Fluid gameplay, although the camera moves a bit too harsh when switching direction, makes it a bit difficult to see what's going on.
Biggest standout to me was the graphics, it was pretty cool. Camera was way too harsh and I couldn't understand what was going on at all. (Combined with all the movements and jetpacking, I was blindly shooting most of the time). I think just centering it would be better. Also I think your audio only comes out from the right side...
I managed to kill 152 pirates before getting killed with only 4 boxes left!
Fantastic graphics, really digging how the game looks. The gameplay is very fluid and quick, though the camera might be a little too quick at times.
The game feels nice due to the fast movement and responsive controls, but the camera movement when you switch direction is too hard. Anyway, the concept is good and the art is great.
Hey man,
I tried out your game, I really like the controls, and these kind of games are always fun to play. I guess all the other guys was AI? Pretty cool. I didn't get the objective or what I was suppose to do? I just kept killing guys. That would have been nice. I also missed some sounds :)
Cheers
Nice pixel art! The camera's movement makes things fill dazzling though.. It would be better if add more feedback when the enemies get shot (particles / audio). Final enemies killed: 196
The graphics are amazing!
This game is something that could be really good, but is unfortunately held back by a lot of technical issues. Starting off with the positives, the visuals for the game are great. The character is nicely stylized and the projectiles look nice. The music is also good, but the lack of other sound effects leaves the game feeling a bit empty. Also, I appreciate that you're trying to do something with the camera other than just having it centered, but this camera doesn't work well for this kind of game. The camera only really shows what's in front of me, but this is an open arena where I need to watch out for people behind me as well. Also, the camera movement is very jarring and would need to be a lot smoother for the effect to work properly. Onto the gameplay, the controls are really good and the hover boots in particular work well. Unfortunately, the game is pretty hard to keep up with. I see that you can do some fancy moves based on the gif on the game's page, but, in practice, those moves were pretty hard to pull off while actually hitting enemies. It wound up being more effective to just sorta stand still and fire my weapon at the enemies as they did the same to me, at least given my skill level. The difficulty aiming is partially due to the camera, but also because everything moves too quickly. If everything was just a little bit slower then I feel like the game would be easier to keep up with. I don't mean to sound too negative about the game; it certainly has a lot of positive qualities going for it, like the presentation and the controls, but it's held back by all of these largely technical difficulties. Despite these issues, the game is pretty good.
The graphics and music are perfectly matched. Reminded me of one of some of my favourite 8-bit games! Gameplay is a little bit jerky, not sure whether that's camera, controls or a mixture, but it's pretty good for 48 hours of work!
A solid platformer this is. I liked the pixel graphics style and the smooth character animations, the music is a rather short loop but fits well here. The panning is a bit hard to follow so I lost track often of exactly where I am, but fun nevertheless. Good 48hrs work!
Great pixel art, nice game play. The camera was a little to fast for me.
The camera moves waaaaaaaay too fast for me to process anything. I noticed only, that there were multiples of me, and bullets were flying everywhere, but I suppose, It's nice
Great LD entry! The game is so fast I would want the action zoomed out a little. I would also suggest improve hitting/killing and getting hit feedback to give the game a less floaty feel. Also, some of the AI mob you and are hard to avoid.
The art is nice. I wish it had sound effects and the music is a bit repetitive. The camera is my biggest complaint though. It's very jarring to face a different direction. It feels like it needs zoomed out a bit and fixed, not attached to the position of the cursor.
The game is fun with some really nice graphics. However, as others have mentioned the camera movement is a bit jarring, and the controls can be a bit difficult to master. I also found that the background music only played in my right headphone(web version). Otherwise, very well done game.
Really cool and fast-paced gameplay. I can imagine a killer 1v1 or team deathmatch/ctf game with this setup. The jetpack was great! I also really appreciated the wraparound if you fall off the level. The difficulty felt just right too, I destroyed all the boxes just seconds before dying. Although maybe there's a way to win and I just wasn't good enough to find it. Nice job!
Loved the graphics! The orange platforms were pretty contrasting :)
I would appreciate:
* Specified goal - what should I do. * Slower camera when rotating! It was just crazy :) * Some progressive difficulty increase. * Tutorial would be great :) * Restart and Quit buttons. * Some feedback telling me that I'm playing it right.
Thanks for submitting, sir! Good luck next time as well :)
You can watch me playing the game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5x4fRX8yrw
Quite polished for a compo game! Nice graphics and sound design, however the camera movement is so harsh that it made me very nauseous in matter of seconds (but I'm prone to that in games, VR is not for me haha) Also I don't have a QWERTY keyboard, so WASD movement without remapping/detecting kb mapping is a bit harsh.
When I saw the screenshots it reminded me of the classic "Rolling Thunder"! What you've created here is solid and it's just missing a few finishing touches to make it complete (easy to say when you no longer have a 48 hours deadline). What I would like to see...
* Don't let the camera move so quickly when the mouse goes from one side of the player to the other * Have on-screen indicators telling you where the enemies are (or maybe show more of the level) * Enemies not requiring quite so many hits to kill * Goal condition(s) * Longer music loop
You've created a very playable and fun game. Nice work!
Nice graphics but the camera movement when turning was unnecessary, just the mouse offset would have been fine. Also for some reason the music only came out of my right speaker.
I also think that the camera "look ahead" when going left/right is too intense, especially when I just want to get a bit further away from an enemy. The sound only worked in the HTML5 version, not the Windows version.
Other than that I like that you give player multiple objectives (keeping health, protecting boxes and killing enemies), all of which are visible. NPC AI is also nice. It's great you managed to do that in just 48 hours!
Nice graphics! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8tza0thP_g
