So good game! It has everything: nice graphics, animations, fantastic music and so much fun to play. That game is so addictive that I played half an hour to unlock everything. It would be nice if there would be other mechanic than just scaling cost of eggs. It would be more challenging if player will control what Pixlets do. Saving link for voting time :ballot_box:

"Food, Sleep... That's it."

^ I can relate to these simple, cute creatures. Awesome game, simple core mechanic that works really well. Most importantly a lot of fun. When I was playing (I just clicked the link without reading) one of the notes I made was 'Mention it'd be cool to play on my phone' as I read through your ld entry page I noticed it said Android! :D This is a game I'll actually keep around and play on my mobile. Please add to this. It's like tamagotchi but better.

simonhutchinson 2017-04-29 01:09

Cool. Nice graphics, audio, and overall balance.

I have to admit that this kind of game isn't really my bag. I found myself turning on MST3K on Netflix to kill the time as I was waiting for the pixlets to do their work. For players like me, maybe a "speed up time" option?

maggardjosh 2017-04-29 02:11

@fedor Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, I had so many other mechanics planned. 48 hours went by too fast! :)

@binaryferret Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! I'd love to do a post-jam version of this and release on Google Play.

@simonhutchinson Hey, I appreciate you playing anyway. These types of games aren't for everyone. I had honestly thought about putting in a "speed up time" button, but I felt like that would go against the spirit of the game.

jk5000 2017-04-29 08:37

The is very cute and fun little game. This reminded me of the good old tamagotchis games. Well done.

lars-dk 2017-04-29 11:13

I played the web version.

Interesting game. I liked how casual it was, the interpretation of the theme, and the cuteness of the characters.

The music was cool for like the first 10 minutes of game-time. After that, it became boring fast. There were a few simple sound effects. Graphically there's not a lot to complain about at all, especially considering this is essentially a casual simulation. It's retro and it's awesome. The UI was good too. I couldn't work out how to un-plant a tree for the longest time.

Mechanically I felt like I couldn't tell exactly who my pixlets were. They all fairly identical. No preferences I could see. I liked the trees as a means to avoid constant feeding. Giving me more ways to care for or bond with my pixlets would certainly have complicated the simulation but also added to the fun factor. The gameplay could also use a much more exciting beginning. The first 15 minutes or so I just spent watching my first pixlet. If the pixlets interacted somehow that'd be cool!

Addicting game with some really solid potential. I really like it!

elzach 2017-04-29 12:44

I've got to the green slimes, while making sure no other color get's wiped out. Pretty satisfied with my diverse little planet in the end. The graphics are cute and the tiny screen was a neat idea and really made it a visual package.

Even though there's little interaction, without any information about the slimes I almost felt a little stressed out by constantly looking for my populace. "Is purple ok?" "Yes purple is ok, purple is always ok, those seem to not be able to die" "Is orange ok?" "Holy! Orange is down to 2, start the breeding machines!"

richard-michael-smith 2017-04-29 15:25

This definitely has a lot of potential. I played until I unlocked the green eggs so I don't know how much further you can go after that. You've definitely got the mechanics of a solid game here - it just needs a little more of a challenge. I can imagine it plays very well on Android too (I tested the Web version).

Nice work!

avavt 2017-04-29 16:00

HOLY SH I JUST CLICKED THE TRASH CAN AND THEN... and then... every thing's gone...

That's so bad UX friend, when you reset or delete something be sure to get confirmation from the player instead of just go ahead and delete everything. How am I supposed to know the trash can icon mean "delete everything and go back to the beginning?"

The game is great though. From what I've seen: catchy theme song, addictive gameplay, adorable visual. I don't think I have the patience to replay again to see it through to the end though ._.

stoemason 2017-04-29 23:33

I could see me playing a "full" version of this on my phone. Tamagotchi crossed with resource management, great idea and very well executed with cute art and fitting sound design. I like that you have to experiment to find out about the different needs and abilities of your pixlets. All in all, one of the best executed games I've seen on here, though the gameplay itself is probably not for everyone.

camilo 2017-04-30 18:35

Pixlets are too cute!

I liked a lot your game, you managed to execute a simple idea very well. I'm playing it right now and it has that "something" that forces you to play until you unlock everything.

Congrats!

maggardjosh 2017-05-01 05:18

@jk5000 Thank you!

@lars-dk Appreciate that feedback! The original idea included the Pixlets being more unique and also interacting with each other. Maybe post-jam I can add some of that! Thanks for playing!

@elzach Hey! That'd be a cool game mode, making sure at least 1 of every species is alive. Would definitely change up the strategies! Thanks for playing!

@richard-michael-smith Thanks for playing! Green eggs are the last thing you can unlock, so you basically beat it! :)

@avavt :( I know! I'm so sorry, the trash can was a very last minute addition so it wasn't entirely thought out. I'll fix that in the post jam version for sure! Appreciate your feedback!

@stoemason Wow, thank you much! Thanks for playing!

@camilo :) That's great to hear! Thank you!

avavt 2017-05-01 09:15

I have now voted for the game. Great entry! :)

fedor 2017-05-01 13:38

Since the voting is up, I’ve added rating to my earlier feedback.

breno-m 2017-05-01 16:03

It's a very addictive game. The art style and music fit perfectly. It'd be nice if we could evolve them.

gris 2017-05-01 20:47

Cool little managing game. So much fun to play! Congrats!

drmargarido 2017-05-02 02:15

I want my red pixels to evolve into charmander, can you do that please?

gamepopper 2017-05-02 08:14

Very cute and easy to pick up.

brainy-beard 2017-05-02 08:49

Longest I think I've ever played a LD game, really loved it, cute art, bouncy music, wanted to unlock everything!!

maggardjosh 2017-05-04 05:09

@breno-m @gris @gamepopper Thank you! ^_^

@drmargarido You just have to get to 300K coins then you can unlock charmander :P

@brainy-beard That's the best LD compliment I've had I think :D Thanks!

skullpixel 2017-05-04 13:58

This game could do very well on mobile. You definitely should give it a go. Well done on your game! The art and feel behind it were fantastic, even though they were minimalistic.

gamerjenn 2017-05-04 22:52

This game is so much fun! Great job!

impbox 2017-05-05 04:35

This surprised me with how fun it was! I think the music really helped, it was so bouncy along with the bouncing sprites! I unlocked all the things =) Definitely could see some room for improvement though: - Show counts of each type - Show the reason why they died, whether it was old age, starvation, sleeplessness, currently I don't really know what to fix because I don't really know why they're dying. - Sleep you can't really control in any way so it seems a bit pointless, maybe add "beds" or something. - Make the scrolling of the shop panel more obvious.

Great work!

wheerd 2017-05-05 07:23

A nice solid game. I like the music, even though it gets a bit repetetive after a while. The graphics are cute and functional. The gameplay is simple but fun. The unlock system works very well to keep you playing. Ist is actually surprisingly difficult to balance the trees and pixlets so that they all got something to eat and you don't run out of money. Overall, a fun game that is very addicting  Well done!

fiery-squirrel 2017-05-05 11:36

I have a lot of money in your game! xD, very nice work. The graphics and animations are simple but cute and interesting, the whole idea and its simplicity makes it addictive. I'm glad you made a mobile version. Some ideas for expanding would be, give more meaning to the coins, after saving a lot of money I didn't know what to do and I didn't want to keep doing the same thing all the time. You could add improvements for the trees or maybe new elements that keep players engaged or at least curious. I think curiosity is the best point here. Nice game!

loveapplegames 2017-05-05 14:37

A very appealing game. I found myself playing it for almost an hour. A time speedup could be nice, as well as a goal/challenge (like, how much money can you make in 30 min). It seems the blue pixlets are the most efficient, as they need the least food.

maggardjosh 2017-05-06 03:40

@skullpixel @gamerjenn Thanks!

@impbox Really appreciate that feedback! I'll add those to my notes :D

@wheerd Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)

@fiery-squirrel :D Awesome feedback thank you!

@loveapplegames Haha yeah the blue pixlets are definitely OP, shh don't tell anyone! ;)

mhaton 2017-05-07 17:01

Help I can't stop.

It'd be nice to get a little more feedback on the return on the different pixlets, but I guess working that out is part of the game :) The audio is what going insane sounds like, but they're such adorable little guys that I welcome the madness. Great work, super addictive and an impressive amount of polish for a compo entry!

juicybrucey 2017-05-07 21:55

This was better than i expected, honestly; the gameplay was simple, yet addicting, the pixlets look cute, and the concept it easy to grasp. Good job!

aeveis 2017-05-07 22:00

Pretty fun! I had it going for a while. It feels like a nice mix between idling and managing what trees and pixlets were in the game until the next thing was unlocked. I was sort of expecting a thing where maybe a pixlet needed to eat another pixlet for food, though that didn't happen haha. The progression was pretty good - though I wished there was more of a reward with unlocking - could really just be more varied content (different trees, or a bigger ask would be more some pixlet interaction). The scaling animations were pretty funny just to watch things bounce around. Overall nice job!

richard-michael-smith 2017-05-09 12:24

Just had to give my ratings again - for some reason they had cleared???

dgspitzer 2017-05-10 07:50

I had a great 20 min to play this~ So much fun with nice art and music!

yami-no-tenshi-8 2017-05-10 16:20

Nice and really satisfying game when you have dozens of Pixlets giving you a lot of coins. I just didn't understand first that I had to click on an object to unlock it by paying the written amount.

But a really nice entry, good job !

sgstair 2017-05-14 00:06

Damn you, I couldn't stop without unlocking and trying out all the eggs :) Really cute, the variety of expressions, sizes and animations made it far too easy to watch for far too long. Music and sound effects work really well with it too.

I played this on stream at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/141022066 - time 2:40:35

siegfriedcroes 2017-05-18 22:26

This is the game I played the longest so far :) It's really fun and I always wanted to know what the next type of egg would be :) Really liked the visuals and music. Awesome work!

2017-05-26 18:47

Cute little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iJfrvw7wWA
