Really love the look and atmosphere but bloody hell that gasp gets annoying
Charming, loved it.
Tiny Tony Small.png
Loved every single part of this game! But I have to agree with @spinaljack ... that gasp starts to get annoying .. specially on the last part where you keep dying not crossing the wooden bridge. Great game all around :P
The game is freaking beautiful. It is really difficult to tell where you are at first so that was a trial but I really loved the game!
Excellent game! As others have mentioned the gasp is a little over the top (not in keeping with the rest of the atmosphere) and the difficulty can be quite brutal (I must admit to not getting past the bridge section). However, you've certainly fulfilled the theme very well! Great stuff.
"Get inside their house" I tried getting up the stairs, oversteered and promptly fell into the ocean.... Needless to say I didn't try again.
The graphics and music are great. The steering is a bit....you know, a bit. It probably doesn't help that I never liked them wooden labyrinth puzzles as a kid.
Anyways, good work, but not for me! Have a :corn: (there are no emoji for mazes, labyrinths or puzzles it seems).
The idea for the game is super great, and both the music and graphics is super amazing. But I have two small problems: - The ball is very small and therefore it is a bit difficult to see where it is. I often loosen track of the ball. - Getting pas the snakes in the maze was much too difficult for me.
But overall a gret LD game.
Very impressive stuff. As other said, the dying sound is a bit annoying, and the game gets too hard too quickly i think. Maybe the first quarter should have more challenging coins to get to, so the player gets accustomed with the nuances of the controls, because the second level felt too hard right away and discouraged me to keep going. I think the third and the last levels are fine difficulty wise. One last complain, It's hard to see the ball when you first start the game, it matches the color of the snow, either change the ball color or change the theme of that one. All that said, since I got through the second level it got really engaging, fun and a bit frustrating(in a good away if that makes sense) and when I completed it felt like an accomplishment. The ending sequence is really nice, makes me want to see the whole game from first person :)
Awesome game!
This game is... beautiful. Make me wish I have such thing on my desk.
When the game started it took me quite some time to notice the ball, since I was playing on web (non-fullscreen). Maybe something to highlight the ball at the beginning would be nice.
Although I enjoyed the game the control was not to my liking though. Having to deal with both balance and the box itself moving around is quite frustrating. Especially because my laptop is not too great, the slight lag is very noticeable.
Overall it was an immersive experience and I trully enjoyed it.
Very beautiful game ! I always loved those kind of tiny sets, there're so pleasant to watch and to evolve in. In your case it's very nicely done and the whole idea perfectly fits in the theme.
I agree to the other comments that it is a bit harsh at first to see where tiny Tony is, even in full screen, and I'd also say that you could adjust the difficulty a little bit, especially for the beginning (the snakes are already very hard to pass, it's kind of intimidating...)
Loved it anyway, very enjoyable, hope you'll have the opportunity to polish it ! Bravo !
Well, this will definitely get a good rating on the visuals :)
I agree with everyone who said that the ball is hard to see at first. Other than that, lovely game. I won't comment on the difficulty, since I'm bloody awful at this type of game anyway :D
The viewport was a bit small in the webGL version and I had some trouble finding the snowball. I love the idea, it is simple but it is effective and cute. The sound design was perfect! I loved the "Oh!" when you get eaten by a snake, it was really unusual for a game to hear this kind of sounds. A really enjoyable game, great job on it, it is really clean and polished. Good job!
Nice! great idea, fun game. I hope you will take this game further.
The ball is a bit small and it it hard to see it some times..
Great game. Good job!
This is a tough mechanic to pull off, cause it can so easily become too frustrating. You did a good job, the first two levels were well balanced in difficulty, it did get a little frustrating in the last couple lvls though. I think it would be a good idea to freeze the ball physics for a second or so after it resets, on the last level it kept instantly rolling into danger. Some visual indicator of where the ball is at the start of the game would also save a bit of time trying to figure out what you are controlling.
Great job on the visuals, and the music fits the mood well.
I actually feel a bit sad that I could not reunite Tony with his girlfried. But I feel like you really nailed the fairytale-like atomsphere in this game! I just love the mood this game puts you into!
Although there are a few things I want to notice, even when playing it in fullscreen it was quite hard to look at the tiny ball which represent the play, when I started the game it actually took me a while to even figure out what the player is. And I don't know about the last level because I did not get that far, but the third one might be a bit too frustrating, although the music does a good job at calming me down again.
Poor Tony died a lot! Hope that kiss at the end was worth it. The game looks really stunning, but is really hard! Another checkpoint on the last island after the bridge would have been nice. The gasp made me jump a little the first time, when I wasn't expecting it. The music creates a very nice atmosphere.
The cutscene in the end was very nice, since it made it feel like my work got paid off. Great work!
Nice game! Nice atomsphere! Loved the idea to play with gravity. But the ball is way too small even on a big tv screen.
+100 points for quaintness -10 for rough audio -10 for no anti-aliasing -20 points for Gillie Suit Tony +30 points for satisfying ending. (life hack: don't spend all your internet points at one place)
The music was quite relaxing, however as pointed out by others, finding the player and the control scheme were both a bit off. Still, good job pulling something together, especially with such a large group.
Cleared the first two quadrants, couldn't beat the third.
"Bugs"/remarks/experiences: - I got stuck behind the first tree in the second quadrant (labyrinth) and had to restart the game. It would be nice if there was a way to respawn without restarting. - The ball could be bigger, but I couldn't switch to fullscreen (caused by Unity WebGL + Safari). - My mouse cursor got to the edge of the screen after some time of playing and I had to re-center it (moving the mouse past center so the small world is level when the cursor is in the middle of the screen). Again, I think it's caused by WebGL (not being able to change mouse position?), native build is probably OK (untested). As a workaround (or a different design decision) you could solve it by just using the absolute mouse position instead of computing changes of cursor positions between frames. - There is visible aliasing/blurriness - apparently also a Unity thing.
Nice choice of music, great looking visuals, perfect adherence to theme!
The idea is very nice and fits the theme quite well. In the beginning i could not figure out the player character. After some time i recognized a tiny ball :) Steering of said ball is difficult but manageable. It was difficult to see the current angle of the tabletop. Perhaps another representation of the angles (like a windrose or sth.) would help! The end was brutal. I managed to get him into the lighthouse, after 100x trying the bridge passage :D
Overall very nice game. Gameplay and Leveldesign got to be polished to not frustrate players.
Best game I played during the jam. It is so relaxing, the music and the gameplay fits. Web build worked perfectly for me. I didn't get any error. Controls are easy but I have to admit it controlling up and down wasn't so obvious to me. Maybe because of the perspective, I expect to opposite reactions from up and down. But as a result, I bookmarked your game. It was very nice. Good luck with the entry.
Very creative game. I enjoyed the game and found it got fairly challenging. Very reminiscent of those little movement puzzle games that I'm sure was part of the inspiration of. I had to give up on the wooden bridge section, I tried probably 50 times and the controls were just too difficult for that fine precision, at least for me.
Still, lovely game and beautiful piano in the background. My only recommendations would be to make the control over the rotation a little more precise and maybe widen the bridge section. Maybe make the ball have a bit of a glow so it's easy to spot too.
Simple concept, great execution and music!
I like almost everything about this game, the music was great, the art was great, the overall aesthetic was great. The tiny ball was hard to find at first but after finding it I had no more trouble seeing where I was. I couldn't make it past the bridge but all in all a fun experience.
Nice mood, good idea and good execution. The view and its small worlds is lovely. I really like the color scheme. Goes very well with the melancholic music.
Hard to find the ball and therefore to understand why those gasp and cling sounds are happening. Hard also the autorespawn which leads to serial deaths in the bridge part even before the realization that I respawned.
I didn't manage to beat the bridge part even after many tries. Too hard for me. Did I miss a nice ending ?
I have now also rated your game.
Just stopped by to give my ratings.
Beautiful game. It was very hard to control though, especially with a touchpad.
Just rated it! Good luck!
Rated <3
I left you a rating in addition to the earlier feedback. Good luck!
Really cool game. Such a simple concept, but nicely worked out. Love the graphics.
Very pretty with good atmosphere and polish, but it does seem like all of the useful options for controlling it are crammed into a 16*16 pixel space in the middle of the screen, which is unfortunate, given the finesse required for much of the game.
Really great mood. I agree with others that it's pretty challenging. A great submission for the theme.
Loved the idea! great work on the theme too!
I had to read some of the comments before I understood there was a ball somewhere, and I didn't get past the no-walls part.
The soundtrack is very fitting, and the idea is simple but inticing! Great work!
Nice game with an interesting idea. Very good soundtrack and the game was relaxing but when I first hit the snake and that gasp sound effect played I really jumped, I was not expecting that haha. One thing that could be made more clear is the location of the ball, it was hard to see in the beginning. Perhaps a arrow pointing on the ball or something could be a solution.
The idea of indirect control of the ball was interesting but somewhat hard to control. I wasn't able to get all of the coins but overall a very pleasant experience. Great job!
Sorry for taking so long to get this comment out, I've been distracted for the past few days. Pretty much what I said on stream - I love the graphics and the idea and everything about it. I just wish it weren't so difficult because I still have not gotten past the wooden bridges :p. Well, if I ever manage it, I'll comment here again. Again, love the game! Hope you do well in the ratings!
I could not get past the water section. Lovely graphics. It took me a bit to see what I was controlling too I feel like some sort of indicator of where the ball starts would be nice. Good concept well executed.
The art of this game catched my attention, but I think the game is too difficult for me. First, I spent a long time to figure out how to play and where was the ball (maybe you should make it more noticeable or add the possibility to zoom in). Then the control was not really smooth (but maybe my computer doesn't support the game very well). Otherwise, this was a cute and polished small world and I really like the atmosphere you created!
Nice graphics, but it's too dang annoying to play. Sorry, but I couldn't finish it. I'd suggest less sensitive controls, (please not mouse controls) and I'd also suggest that the main character is more noticeable. I spent the first minute just trying to find out what and where I was . . .
Woof, that water stage is not for the faint of heart. You hit the theme right on its head though, it was a good idea not moving the camera at all to convey that feeling. Good job making the game look fantastic too.
Super lovely game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTDci7P3_cI
Lovely game. The graphics and the mood are great and on top of that it's also very innovative. I love this kind of puzzles in real life.
But as it would seems in video game I'm really terrible at this, I can't get past the second snake :(
Anyway, it's a great entry!
It is a very beautiful game but a little too frustrating. I did not understand at first where we are and what to do. I think the world is too small (but it's a small world !! ;)) Perhaps it would have been necessary to make several small levels rather than one.
Great job anyway !!
Neat level design, and very aesthetically pleasing. The controls are difficult, but it's a good emulation of what this sort of tilting puzzle is like. Nice interpretation of the theme, and well executed into a nicely polished little game.
Wow, I'm amazed by what you managed to achieve in this short time. Extremely beautiful graphics and soothing music complete the general set up for this game. Too bad that my poor laptop is not coping to good with web based version which I played so sadly I was not able to complete the game. But I can only imagine how great this would look on some large monitor in dark room with headphones on. Certainly looking forward to more games from you!
Keep up the good work!
