Love you guys. This game, graphics everything is amazing. Good luck for the great team.

pashok 2017-04-29 21:57

Was it really made for the ludum dare?

jk5000 2017-04-30 07:52

The graphics and music is really good. The game mechanic is okay, but it is not super fantastic.

neurohacker 2017-04-30 11:40

The art of the game is insane!

mmason 2017-04-30 20:17

I thought your game looked cool so I thought I'd google what looks like your studios username.

What I found was that you submitted this in the last jam and just added improvements to it, if you're going to do that you should at least mention it. Work on your game whenever you want, even submit it, I don't really care just don't try to pass it off as something it isn't.

buteratosgames 2017-04-30 22:01

@mmason Yes, our team was working on other projects, so we could not devote time to this game. Now is the time to tell the story Buteratos, because we love this game! Moreover, of those people who did this on the past Ludum Dare, only me remained. Everyone do in a new way with new team, so everything is honest, i think.

buteratosgames 2017-04-30 22:03

@pashok yes. art, animation and code!

mmason 2017-05-01 02:05

@buteratosgames, not really, even if you didn't reuse any code you still started with a fully fleshed out concept, art assets and music. However given the video I saw, your LD37 submission looked like it played pretty much the same as this one, so I'd say that you probably reused code too.

The idea of of the jam is to build a game from scratch (at least mostly) in a weekend, I personally don't care if you worked on something you started before, but you should at least point that out otherwise people will think you made everything for the game in a weekend, and you didn't.

If you want to be honest you should at least tell people that you worked on this prior to this jam in your game description.

jk5000 2017-05-01 09:02

I have now also rated your game.

mathijsvissers 2017-05-01 12:59

Insane graphics, love the crazy over the top stuff. Gameplay isn't as great and could have used more attention. Feels a bit wonky, a bit slow. You're going for a run and gun on steroids basically, it would fit a lot better if the game also played fast.

Also, reading the previous comments and seeing the 'older' version leaves me with a mixed feeling. It looks like a recycled and upgraded version of something you already had going on. A lot of the same characters, just with better details. It doesn't look like you started from scratch, it looks like you used whatever you had as a base and worked from there, and I don't think that's what this competition is about.

But whether or not it was completely made during de LD, I love the crazy insane vibe!

hadik 2017-05-01 18:11

Graphics is supreme great, but gameplay is not too good. Sounds and some effects missing. But great concept.

listonos 2017-05-02 00:27

The above comments about re-using are indeed pretty serious and bad stuff so I will leave this unrated. Artwork is amazing, cut-scenes in jam entry?!

buteratosgames 2017-05-10 14:45

@listonos yes, man! Thank you for comment!

buteratosgames 2017-05-10 14:46

pandakipu 2017-05-10 18:49

Wow ! Those graphics are awesome... and the music ! Great job!

richard-michael-smith 2017-05-11 10:14

The graphics are great and the music is very good. It's a shame there are no sound effects when the player fires and the collision between the player's ammo and the enemies seems off. In its current form it seems to be lacking the "fun" element. it's certainly got the style but it's lacking the substance. Maybe you'll add that in LD39?

buteratosgames 2017-05-11 12:21

@Richard Michael Smith Thank you for your feedback! Yes, we added sounds to later build. We want to release a full game, so the LD39 will be something else from us!

louspirit 2017-05-16 11:19

The art is clearly your strongest point. The intro is staggering. The characters are high-detailed and funny. Same for the scenery. I really loughed with the Trump head too . A possible way of improvment may be several weapons. Also it was a little laggy on my computer.

nikkilak 2017-05-16 11:24

Ohh man, this is positively absolutely awesome!!

mar3k 2017-05-16 11:41

This game is all about the aesthetics I would say, the art is amazing (love the comic at the start) and the music as well, but the gameplay is the weaker side of the game. It is the usual shooter game with nothing too unique (you should add something more unique to it if you want to make it a full game I think) and also there were some bugs, like enemies shooting after being dead or animations not being executed properly. But otherwise it is a really nice game and as I said the art and music are so well done, same as the world design. Good job guys

asturk 2017-05-16 11:50

Well, its the best game visual i found so far here on this ludum dare! Also gameplay seems very fun to play, only sad that you could do just 1 short level. But this is a very good idea for a game, hope you all continue onto this, it can become a really fun and diferent game! Anyway, its was a very good entry here, Great job!

for-science 2017-05-16 15:43

This was certainly interesting.

The art is really cool, very detailed and very polished. Some insane fun I would say.

slueta 2017-05-16 19:36

Amazing and Crazy visuals! Congrats! And thanks for your review on mine!

joemid 2017-05-16 21:39

@buteratosgames Love the art! Is that Spriter? Fun and arcade-y! Great death scenes! @mmason @mathijsvissers @listonos Hey you guys, check out the rules, no?! ;D

"You’re free to use any tools or libraries to create your game. You’re free to start with any base-code you may have.

You’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created, but we ask that you OPT-OUT of the respected voting categories (Graphics, Audio). You can opt-out of a voting category when you submit your game.

We strongly recommend you only use assets that you have the legal right to use (Public Domain, things you licensed/created, etc). If you don’t have the right to use something, it is your responsibility."

buteratosgames 2017-05-18 11:26

@joemid big thanks for your support! If you asked about animation - this is Spine!

mrsmith33 2017-05-18 14:41

Looks !FUN!

mmason 2017-05-18 19:38

@joemid, I'm familiar with the rules, tools and libraries are one thing, starting with a base game is not the same as base code.

*"You’re free to use any tools or libraries to create your game. You’re free to start with any base-code you may have."*

Unless you stretch the definition of base code, usually it would mean code that initializes your libraries, gets graphical and audio stuff set up and in general, gets the core things ready to work. Base code is generally not most of a game that you add to.

*"You’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created, but we ask that you OPT-OUT of the respected voting categories (Graphics, Audio). You can opt-out of a voting category when you submit your game."*

This would mean opting out of all categories, unless they added new stuff in which case they should mention what existed already so that people can fairly judge what they created during the event. This part gets a pass because they claim they redid everything, I have my personal reservations here but I'll leave them out, they don't belong here.

My real issue was that they worked on a game made in a previous event and tried to pass it off as work done in this event alone, they have since added a notice stating that this is what they did. This allows people rating this time a better chance to judge what has changed between the versions.

I'm sometimes bad with words, so I want to make sure I haven't given the wrong impression or that I'm trying to bash their game. I think they have done a good job on their game, and it's clear that they are quite passionate about it. The only issue I took was initially this didn't fall into the spirit of the event (build a game in 48/72 hours) and they have since clarified the grey areas so that anyone rating can give them an accurate rating on the work done during the event.

cerno-b 2017-05-20 17:14

I'm with @mmason. I played Buteratos back in LD37. This looks too similar to the LD37 game to be in the spirit of Ludum Dare, unless you opt out of the categories in which you used existing assets. If you really drew all the art (background and characters), made the animation, the intro, and everything else in 3 days, hats off to your team!

joemid 2017-05-20 17:34

@mmason I'm more artist than programmer, and I use a middleware engine with actions and events to construct my game. (Visionaire Studio) And I have used the same assets and/or concepts; for the last few LD. I build from scratch each time, rebuild, and redo assets; I opt out of graphics and sound. I hear what you are saying about being forthright and clear, this is something that I am working on as well.

I feel like the ratings in the jam are more of a gift from the community to the developer, in response to the gift of the game. And I do believe that discourse is imperative in order for all of us to grow! I felt you were clear and articulate in your response! Your feedback is necessary! ;D Also, side note, love your game!

@buteratosgames Yes, that was it! Thanks! Keep it up!
