@fury - First things first - GREAT name: "Ctrl+S the World!" - I can imagine that on a T-shirt!
However, I must admit to having absolutely no idea how to play this. I can move around using the arrow keys or WASD and I can turn my shield on by pressing the Space bar - but I don't seem to be able to get any "Saves". Perhaps I am just being a bit dim but could you provide some more instructions please?
So, congrats on winning "Best Title Pandering to a Bunch of Nerd Programmers"!
I love your game! Its tough, but not so demanding you can't get that hang of it quickly. The 'keypad-swipe' controls is innovative and satisfying to pull off. Color-coding the enemies based on the direction of swipe needed to take 'em out is brilliant and the swipe sound effect is adorable. I especially loved your 'hand-drawn' UI! Only real nit to pick would be that I'd like to either toggle the shield off/on or just have shield work while the spacebar is held down. Might make it a bit too easy, but it was the only control that bugged me.
First LD, huh? You sure have set the bar high for yourself!
Cool concept and well executed for a first time LD! I liked the art style and the music, but the gameplay was a little too much for me. Love the title, too. Good job!
First game jam for me as well. The controls are really weird and hard to get used to, but really creative as well. I could see you adding an almost DDR thing in the background in later levels to step up the difficulty. The main problem is just lack of content. It is pretty fun as is. Also, I love the name, but I'm kind of disappointed that ctrl+s doesn't actually do anything in-game
I'm shocked there are so few comments on this - this game's unique and really fun. Very well done for a first game jam. It did take a little while to get used to the controls - it didn't help that I accidentally hit numlock a few times while playing. I found it quite playable though. The graphics are nice and the controls felt pretty solid, even if unconventional.
The collisions on the waves (swipes, I guess) were really loose, but it actually made the game a little easier/more playable so I didn't mind. The shield would've been nice as a toggle, or hold to keep it, but also just a nice to have.
Overall this is a great first game, and honestly a great game overall. Well done!

So, this game is definitely up there on innovation for me. The mechanic is a -little- flawed (the numpad isn't the easiest thing to "swipe" across and it was a bit of a challenge to memorise which colours came from which directions) but is overall a breath of fresh air.
The music was nice and upbeat and the art was simple but complimentary to the game's mood. Overall, really good job! I'd like to see another game that uses this one's basic mechanic and refines it into something more intuitive.
Keep it up!

Very innovative! The tutorial didn't really make sense at first... or second... but I checked the page for rules and gave it a third try, and everything clicked! Swiping around to collect the dots was fun. This is one of the most creative puzzle style entries I've seen. Thanks for your hard work and keep it up!
Interesting little concept! It took me a while before I managed to get a swipe that took out the blue planets but even so I was able to survive a while! It would be cool to see this mechanic in other things.

Swiping takes a lot of getting used to, especially while being chased in such a small area. Very claustrophobic. Anyhow, the graphics were simple, but cute, as were the sound effects. Very interesting concept!
Why not allow other keys to be used instead of numpad? Plenty of unused keys left even on a numpadless keyboard.

Well, if nothing else, that is an input method I've not used before! However, was pretty awkward, my fingers would not let me swipe vertically in any kind of efficient manner.
It seemed like the enemies mostly just sat there, occasionally flying after me, but often just spawning and not moving, not sure if that was intentional or not. I made it to 45 saves before I got bored ^_^.
First time I played, it was full screen, or at least maximized, and graphics were a bit messed up (weird bar on the right, couldn't see all the text, and really hard to tell which cooldown counters were for which rows. Just now I launched it in 800x600 windowed mode and it's *way* better looking and easier to play, might be good for that to be the default =).
I really like the mechanics and compliments for your first entry! it's really a challenging game for me but maybe because keyboard controls are a bit odd, also i find the background doesn't fit well with the game style! Good job for the entry tho! Please see my entry https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/escape-from-the-bygone
The game was a lot of fun after the confusing tutorial.
The sound effects were pleasant and the music was great.
Good game :)

Really cool concept! Took me a bit to learn the colors but once I did it was really fun. Luring enemies into different columns to get around the cooldown was pretty effective :) It was kinda frustrating to die unexpectedly when something spawned basically on top of you, so having a health bar & some warning when enemies spawn might help. My high score was 58. Nice work!
BTW, small technical note - you shouldn't need to include the PDBs in the download, as those are just debug info.

Very clever! I found myself only using horizontal swipes, probably because they're much easier to pull off. Enjoyable music, too. I could see this going further with more animations, more varied enemy types, interesting attack variations, and maybe a waves or level system (oh! and boss levels where you have to use a sequence of patterns to take down a tough guy).
I really liked the unique controls!
