Very interesting game, nice mechanics, fluid gameplay, well done.
The level design was really good! I could definitely see the exact same game being much worse if the enemies/walls were just placed randomly, but I could see a lot of care went into making you have to think out your path.
Very fun!
Really cool mechanic
Very original. I found it a bit counterintuitive that to look to the left I had to move my mouse to the right. I get that it's because the camera is counter-scrolling for some cool-effect. I didn't quite understand the mechanics with the blue objects which at first I thought were powerups but they didn't see to help me out. Overall an interesting and original puzzle game.
Great work! I couldn't always quite tell what was killing me when I ran into a wall, but this is a good idea and execution. 👏
I like the mechanics and I like the design very much, the gameplay was fun and the levels were very creative!
That is one satisfying crunch sound.
I like this, the sounds are great and the effect over the screen make it look awesome, great original concept too.
Cool! I didn't understand why I died sometimes when I smashed into the walls, I think it's in need of clearer feedback there.
@paulstraw @pomb Yes I agree. There are two main problems with the gameplay in this version: - it isn't clearly communicated that it's dependant on speed if you die when hitting a wall - Unity physics (for the enemies) are not perfectly deterministic
Wow this was fun! It's very well made, and an incredibly thought out puzzle game!
Good puzzle, only gripe I had was that it was hard to tell when I'd get smashed from hitting a wall too hard. Consistent visual and audio style +1
Would have loved to give your game a try but it says "Failed to load mono" upon launching it... :(
@linky439 did you save the game data in some weirdly named directory path? Also, have you tried the web version?
@psychead I have to say I'm running on an old Windows Vista, which might explain some troubles. Anyway, never had any problem of that kind before, and even moving the game folder in C:/Users/Linky439 didn't fix the problem.
As for the web version, as I said, I'm on Vista which means old browsers that aren't updated anymore and it seems the web version doesn't want to launch on neither Firefox nor Chrome. Here's the error displayed at launch: "uncaught exception: WebAssembly support is not detected in this browser."
@linky439 I compiled a WebGL Version that does not rely on WebAssembly and should therefor be compatible with slightly older browsers as well, maybe that works for you:

@psychead Wow, thanks! It does work now, sorry for bothering you that much over an outdated OS ^^'
That being said, great game! Simple yet very effective idea, with our space to move around being reduced over time (like in Tron for instance). I like the atmosphere as well! The only issue I have with it is, as others have said, it is hard to tell when you'll crash into a wall and when you'll be fine. Other than that, great great game! Congrats! :)
Definitely one of the better submissions on LD42. I like the pixel-ish graphical design, and the mechanics are pretty interesting. Well done!
I didn't understand how to control the ship, aside from selecting the direction with the mouse and clicking to move. It only gave me like 3 chances to hit the wall before the ship exploded, which makes the second level seem impossible.
I love the polish and a e s t h e t i c. Very satisfying sounds and gameplay. My favourite moments came from ending up in bad spots and managing to work my way out of danger with careful aim. Great game, and works with the theme very well. Nice job.
cool game! 5/5
Nicely done and amazingly polished in terms of graphics! At first I thought it was simply a putt putt golf game but with a space theme. However, having to make sure you don't crash into walls too hard gives it a whole new dimension! And pausing the game while aiming was nicely done, even the explosions froze :D
The second level was too steep of a learning curve in my opinion, but eventually I managed!
I noticed one small glitch which you might want to fix at some point to make the game feel even more polished. After crashing (and dying) the enemy can hit my dead ships hit box and dies as well. This looked a bit strange :)
Anyway, great game, really something to be proud about ^^!
Very nice ! One of the best games I have tested out there !
The music is very catchy and effective.
I had a bit of trouble understanding the concept (silly me) but it feels natural after some death, haha !
Loved the implementation of the theme, get quite challenging as you need to plan to not trap yourself.
The only downside is there is no sorts of way to know in advance if this particular move is far enough from a wall to survive or not.
You could add a clue as part of an "easy mode" to be able to get a feeling of the distance you need to travel to land safely.
Anyway, awesome entry, well done !
Hey u commented on my game so I came check yours out ;)
Your game is pretty cool, the mechanics are interesting and the levels cool.
I hope you continue developing it in the future!
Solid. well done
Very good game, a little frustrating at times but its a cool puzzle mechanic with well designed levels. The main feedback I'm missing is that I wish I knew before left clicking if I will survive hitting the wall, currently I have to guess based on the distance and thats not easy, it takes a lot of trial and error to learn that. You could for example change the color of the arrow depending on an estimate of whether you will survive whatever you're colliding with next. It'd make the game a fair bit easier, but the fun part of this game is planning several moves ahead and guessing the movement of the enemies, dying from crashing into the wall is just frustrating.
The game looks good even though the graphics are simple, the music is catchy, overall this feels very polished, great job!
@Avon thanks for your feedback! You are right, that is the main issue with the compo version.
I am currently working on a post jam version that will eventually be turned into a full game and a color changing arrow was indeed the solution I took. :v:
Excellent entry! Really want to play more later and beat it. It controls simply but there's a lot of depth here. The simple stylized graphics look great too. Glad to see you're gonna work on this more.
Awesome! You definitely put a good amount of polish on it. The mechanics are solid, I like the art, and I really like the camera effects/mechanics. I don't really have much criticism actually. I could go either way with telling the player if they will crash or not. Well done!
I addition to the speed mechanic, it would be useful to communicate where the speed drops to a safe level. I would make the game easier, so I'm not sure how to balance that, but right now it's an imaginary line that you have to just risk.
I like the idea.
Maybe, the arrow length should correspond to the destruction distance to feel more comfortable with controls.
I feel like this concept can go a long way! I did find a few things irritating though:
It's hard to judge when you're traveling "too fast" to hit a wall. IMO it would be more fun if there was no speed limit and instead there was some other obstacle or challenge (Moving enemies that instakill you so you have to plan your trajectory? Gravity? Could be anything really), but that's totally up to you.
There is a bug (hard to replicate) where you die mid air after killing an enemy and moving in the same direction, also the ship appears to stop mid way and I don't know why.
If those things got ironed out, you got a solid game candidate right here! Maybe in its current stage it could be one of those hit mobile titles?
Great work man, good luck turning this into a bigger game!!
Very well-designed! At first I didn't get why I was exploding but eventually figured it out. Had a bunch of fun with it.
Great game! Very cool and interesting! :D
Incredible game for an LD entry! Very polished and uses the theme very well. I was very surpised by the amount of content this game offers already. Great job!
Nice game, I hope to see more updates and improvments sooner. If you don't bother take a look at our game when we focused on Graphics and visuals and see the results that we got: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42
Reminds me of games I used to play in my youth using ballpoint pens and paper.
We'd draw some racing track on a paper, then we'd take turns moving around, movement was done by placing the tip of the pen on the latest spot your "car" was in, holding the pen down with only your index finger pressed against the pen's back and then tilting it, attempting to steer in the general direction you intended to go, mostly creating straight lines.
If you hit the wall that's where the car would be on your next round.

Great entry. Cool graphics. Could use some clarification on some of the deaths (I was assuming those happened only from hitting the wall too hard, but I died a few times despite travelling a long distance). Excellent gameplay design.
Very hard to judge the power that we put on the ship, but the mechanic is very interesting ! The satisfaction of succeed a level is really big ! And need to exploring the map and analyse the movements of ennemys before thinking about where we should go to is cool ! Good job !
