LD42 — Running out of space

Pusher by notime4games 2018-08-25T20:24:09Z

While the mechanic and style is nice, I feel like some intentional level design would help immensely. I think starting random is nice, but make sure they're all actually possible by tuning or checking from there.

Platform (LD42) by bentglasstube 2018-08-14T02:02:19Z

I enjoyed the style of the game. The flickering stars were a nice touch.

The Consumer by foolmoron 2018-08-14T02:12:32Z

This was a really cool take on the theme.

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-25T20:38:16Z

This is one of my favorite LD42 games. I really like the growth mechanic that controls what groups will be destroyed. This was fun!

Closing In: Barney's Daring Escape by potatolain 2018-08-25T20:30:51Z

It's so cool that this runs on a NES. I played the web version with that in mind, and really enjoyed the style. I got caught on (world 3?) another character. I was under them, trying to move down and it was preventing me. I had to slide to the side to resume movement. The fonts, and coloring really sends you back. It feels like a game built for a different time period!

I addition to the speed mechanic, it would be useful to communicate where the speed drops to a safe level. I would make the game easier, so I'm not sure how to balance that, but right now it's an imaginary line that you have to just risk.

An Ode to Space by Omni 2018-08-14T02:19:26Z

I liked the style. The graphics (especially the lighting changes) were really cool.

WebGL is still down.

M3 (working title) by Jyrms 2018-08-25T20:41:53Z

This is a creative match 3 game, but unfortunately it was difficult for me to play. The left and right keys were scrolling the window as well as the on screen controls.

You Shoot Walls by Kodiqi 2018-08-15T04:50:50Z

I like the take on the theme and second @ian-kettlewell's idea that walls block enemies. That's what I expected and was surprised when they kept going through. Pathfinding is way more to build quickly though!

@jackyjjc Currently you have to download the source on a mac and run it. For someone to be able to download and run it on a 3rd party iOS device, Apple will have to review the app. They don't allow any unreviewed code to run on people's phones.

SpaceIO by Tornquist 2018-08-14T02:39:13Z

@predominant It's a native iOS application. Unfortunately I'd have to rewrite it from the ground up to run on the web.

SpaceIO by Tornquist 2018-08-14T02:42:20Z

@predominant You need a mac. Xcode ships with it. You open the game and can run it on an iPhone. Submitting it to Apple gets around that, but their review process is about a week before it's downloadable from the App Store.

Should Apple approve the app, I’ll update with a link to install it straight from the App Store.

It's now available on the App Store @popdaddygames @predominant @jackyjjc @luca1152

Shrunkeon Dungeon by DleanJeans 2018-08-25T15:05:57Z

I enjoyed the concept, but found it a bit difficult to know how and when enemies were taking damage. Hurting some of them was clear but others I would attack and graphically it was hard to tell if I was succeeding or failing.

Carter's Crates by Diego Escalante 2018-08-17T02:54:21Z

I had a lot of fun playing this! Nice game!

Get Off My Boat, You! by Eric Kulbiej 2018-08-25T20:18:30Z

I enjoyed the style! I feel like centered controls with more of a slider-like mechanism may be easier, but I enjoyed the creativity

BOX IT! by Laminariy 2018-08-25T20:21:11Z

As others have said, the AI is hard. Especially on a laptop with a trackpad. Even with a mouse, it's still really fast. The graphics were nice though.

GRIDLOCKED by bradleypollard 2018-08-25T15:02:05Z

I enjoyed the concept! I found the controls a bit difficult, but I'm playing with a trackpad so that's really on me.

Delusional Thoughts by aCuriosity 2018-08-15T04:47:36Z

That was fun! I enjoyed the difficulty and it felt polished. I didn't find any issues, and it all worked as I'd expect. It felt clean.
