Minimal Leapings by ben657 2013-05-14T20:57:00
Simple little game, but nice. Quite hard with the flipping mechanic, but its a neat idea.

wow very nice. Very hard though, but it needs to be I think.
I like it, really solid entry here. The music is cool and the sounds all work really well together.
Nice little game, though I'm not sure about the long-term captivation. Reminds me of story-puzzle books and pen 'n paper games. I like that it stands out due to its' unique gameplay.
Nice effort put into this game, even though its not a genre I play much. I did note it ran very slowly in my firefox when things started to get going. Still good effort.
The visuals are nice. I found the game really hard however, as I was trying to get my bearings everything would collapse.
Still, nice concept.
Very cool game mechanic you have here.
Pretty cool actually. Simple fun. Good work.
Nice polished game. Really addictive.
Nice idea of using your deaths to your advantage.
I agree that it can be a little buggy in places, for instance climbing using just your chin feels like cheating.
Crashes on Window7x64 :( Just an instant crash message.
I like it, but it takes till about the 3rd level to get really interesting. Seems cool.
Nice, simple and very addictive.
Nice game. Lots to keep me interested. I also thought it was interesting that you only adjust the camera location when the char touches the floor. Its really a hard game I found. Good work however.
Very nice, and the physics are very nice for the character. Great work.
I love the graphics, and it is really minimalistic indeed.
Nice stuff here, and I really like the mechanic of reflection. It really inspires me to think about ways of taking this mechanic farther. Solid stuff here.
This is very nice. My only gripe is that I don't like that the player can collide with the top of the screen, it makes it much harder. But its really nice overall.
Gorgeous game, instantly very captivating.
Easily the best game I have seen so far.
Its also freakishly hard, or perhaps that is just me.
It would be nice to see a video of how it should be played.
Great game though.
This is really great. The aesthetic is really nice. The crisp vector graphics are perfect for the concept. Very well done. Truly minimal.
Nice game, I found this one really addictive.
This is awesome. Determinately the best game I have seen this LD. I love the horsey. Very very great.
This game looks great, however it would be nice if it could be made more intuitive.
Nice theme and style. Could use a little variation however.
I really like this mechanic of moving the light source instead of the player itself. Its easy however to shake the light over the map quickly to discover the exits and find the monsters.
Ah its nice to see a local multiplayer game, they seem to be somewhat rare these days. The aesthetics of this are really nice. Also it made me really happy to hear that you had taken the time to port my game to Linux. Nice work.
Very nice, very lofi, totally awesome. Needs more levels however.!!
I like it, nice and dark. Funny too.
That is so awesome. The music is just great and I love how you drop in and out music elements between the menu and the game. Superb work. You should be very proud.
simple but solidly produced. Really looks like something from the DOS era I think.
Nice game. Some of the graphics are really nice too. I like the depth you get when teleporting around.
The game is a little unforgiving and could use some changes to make it more playable. I used to speed run all the Mario games and it is essential that you can see where you will land. Perhaps some kind of zooming camera would have helped, so it could zoom out.
Nice solid game. Funny and cute at the same time, I really like the snails and their draw style. The physics could use a little work however, as it feels like I am on the moon.
@Markusfisch
Thats awesome that you made a port of the game. Thanks for doing that.
@GranaDa
Hmm, I might guess that you are running winxp? I did read about support for that being dropped in the latest MSVC++ 2012.I will have a go at building one for winxp.
Also yes I plan to extend this game at some point and really improve the controls vastly after everyone's great feedback.
@CloudiestNights that is such a cool idea :)
Claymation is always a cool style to use for a game, but I agree the story left me confused, sorry.
This is great, really great. I found the jump brutally quick but that's such a minor crit. Great work.
I kept eating.
Nice visuals. Me like.
haha ^^ crazy concept
I really like it. I always wanted to make a rogue-like myself. It seems nice and solid what you have created. Very inspiring. Good stuff.
The concept is great and the progression you give through the levels is really nice. Very good concept you have here.
This is nice, and the concept of having parts of the grid destroyable is really a great idea. I can imagine this game would translate perfectly into a lo-res pixel shooter.
This game looks realy nice. I found the controls pretty hard, and the plane turns a little too slowly i think.
This seems really bugged, which is unfortunate. There was a huge amount of errors when I tried to play it.
Nice game but I agree that there needs to be more of a difficulty progression since it gets a little harder then tails off. Also it would be nice if the thing you control is a little more responsive. Still nice concept and executed well.
Damn it, this didnt seem to run in my browser :(
It also said webaudio wasnt supported too.
But I just got a white screen. The screen shots look great though.
The art is great, however I wish there was more feedback in the game play to let you know when it is your turn and when you should be paying attention.
Astounding. Very very nice.
Nice stuff. I like the graphics, and the little details such as the shooting stars.
Simple game, but its not too intuitive what elements will kill you. That took a little time to figure out how to play the game. The graphics a really cool though.
Lots of strong elements here and it makes me want to speed run each level. Good stuff, but it can suffer from being very hard at times.
I like this a lot. Very simple, but executed very well. Good work.
Nice game, but the controls are extremely unintuitive.
Nice game and solid mechanics.
"Notes: You're probably going to need MSVC2012 Redist because Microsoft is silly and I use dumb compilers."
I agree it is annoying, but you know there is an option in the solution properties to use a non DLL version of the run time library. Using that will avoid anyone having to download the Redist.
Fairly minimal, and nice to see a webGL entry, which i'm not familiar with. I guess the lighting is done per vertex or something since it can look a little strange at times, but on the whole very nice.
Nice, I like the concept.
While the game is a realy high quality, I found the controls pretty hard to grasp as there is just so much to control.
I agree that is not so minimal also, but still very well made.
What a nice start, its just a shame that the development couldn't have progressed a little farther. Still, there are lots of nice things in this to explore and see.
It just crashes on start-up for me :(
Windows 7 X64
Very creative and brilliantly executed. The mood is great, and there are loads of interesting features. Well done.
Interesting idea, really reminds me of some of the very old school adventure games.
Looks nice and runs fine for me on my ATI card. I somehow got regularly confused and couldn't figure out if the controls were inverted. My brain isn't designed for these kind of space games I think. Nice job.
Nice concept, but some of the core mechanics seem to be quite rough. The art is nice.
I do like games with rope. nice.
Nice game, however I found it pretty hard. Good stuff however.
This is truly a classic type of game, nicely executed and the graphics are great. I love the depth of field.
Very unique. Well done :)
I really like the journey and the commentary as you progress through the game. Pretty solid work here.
Nice little game, however it feels too slow to me.
Very strong game, really sets your mind into puzzle mode. Very fun to play and keeps you wanting to beat every level. Good work gone on here.
This concept is awesome, and the graphics are great. The controls really took me by surprise and I needed a while to get my head around them. I could see something awesome come out of this idea. Great aesthetic.
Damn this game crashes for me on startup :(
The screenshots are great, I love the style. Also that double layer technique for the player sprite so you have front and back is a great idea !
Very nice atmosphere and the idea is really cool. Great job!
It was nice to see UnrealE4 being used, I didn't expect that. The mix of high end graphics with large pixel sprites looks good too. AI seemed very minimal and often got stuck. Also game seems to hang on death. Overall very nice! Good job!
The graphics are great! Super LORES. The atmosphere is nice. Gameplay seems very hard, but overall very nice. Good job!
The drawings are lovely! Not sure i like the star-field as the background.
Your land is being invaded by goblins, from beneath.
You need their skulls.
Hack and slash their heads off to satisfy your needs.
controls:
WSAD moves
Space slashes
p start playing/respawn

Yes I have been working on liteGame as a small 2d game engine for use in game jams. Its still in its early stages, but forcing myself to use it for this LD was a great way to find its weak points.
More info on my blog if you are interested.

Nice graphics. Subtle movements or animations would have been very lifting for this game. Good job!
The graphics are lovely and the feel of the game is great. Very solid for 48hours. Couldn't work out what to do when I reached the treasure chest however.
I love the idea, being a vintage synth fan myself! Its sometimes a little hard to match the waveforms, when the amplitude is quite low however.
